This is inspired by something in the S8 forum, where mikey said he believes not a lot of "Buffy" fans like "Angel". I think that the majority watch and enjoy both shows.
Please note that this isn't a "Which Show Do You Like Better?" poll. Whichever one you happen to prefer, this is simply asking if you also like the other one, as well.

I like both but rate Angel waaay above Buffy. Interesting thread. I too wondered how many people are actually fans of both.

Two greatest television series I've ever seen, and probably will see. I don't prefer one to the other.

Yeah I love both shows. Like hitnrun017 said, they are the two greatest television shows I've ever seen. I think it's obvious by now which one I prefer more, but that's not really the issue here.

I can't really vote on this one because, while I never really got interested in Angel, I can't really say I disliked it, either. It just never grabbed me the way Buffy did, not the characters nor the stories.

I haven't seen all of Angel but from what I've seen when characters come from buffy then go to angel the characters seem to get better.

The only one that I liked better on AtS was Faith.

I thought Angel, Cordelia, Wesley, Faith, and Spike were all better once they moved over to AtS. Cordelia was most certainly funnier on BtVS than on AtS, but I liked the arc that she went through on AtS.

Except for the SaintCordy development that just annoyed me.

Except for the SaintCordy development that just annoyed me. Well the deal with Spike has always been a half and half kind of deal with me. I really enjoyed Spike on BtVS before he started sleeping with Buffy. After that he monopolized way too much of the show and I just wasn't too big of a fan of that whole situation in Season 6 and especially in Season 7 after he got his soul. Once he moved over to AtS though he became an interesting character again and really fun to watch. Any scene between Spike and Angel was just fantastic and it was really refreshing to see him acting like his old self + a soul. He actually got along with Angel's team, whereas on Buffy, he really just got along with Buffy, and even that relationship was volatile most of the time. So I guess what I am saying is that I'll take the Spike from Season 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Buffy and Season 5 of Angel over Season 6 and 7 Spike any day.

Except for the SaintCordy development that just annoyed me. I agree with your point, Emmie (I think), but I've always thought the "Saint Cordy" label fans hang on that phase wasn't quite the most accurate description of the problem. It was more like the writers just forgot how old the character actually was supposed to be. She's the same age as Buffy, Willow, and Xander, so she should be 21 in S3, yet the writers began to write her much more maturely, more in line with Charisma's actual age and appearance. In "Awakening" in S4, Connor has the line, "She's too old for me, anyway." She's 22, and he's 18. That's too old for him? I know it was part of Angel's candy-ass perfect-day fantasy, but even so, his subconscious couldn't come up with a better excuse than a 4-year age difference? Unless it had just slipped the writers' minds that she was, in fact, only 22. Spike, well, I don't know if he was any better on "Angel" than "Buffy", but he was certainly no worse. He and Angel bring out a level of childishness in each other that's a joy to behold. ;D And Darla is another character who was about 10000% more interesting on "Angel" than she ever was on "Buffy". So, um, where are all those "Buffy" fans mikey mentioned who don't like "Angel"? Did they get tied up in traffic or something...?

By the way, I never said anything about anyone not liking Angel. I said that people are more interested in Buffy. Sorry. A lot of us just don't care that much about Angel or Angel related activities. It's called the Buffyverse for a reason. If I was in the minority then the Angel boards would be as popular as the Buffy boards, but they just aren't. I think Angel is slowly losing it's fanbase (as far as the general population). I mean, people are dying for a Buffy movie or a Buffy mini-series. I don't hear anybody asking for an Angel movie or mini-series. Right now I think Buffy is where the majority of the interest is. Well, aren't you Mr. Dicey Semantics? Either way, I think you're wrong, and I believe the evidence backs that up. The voting is near-unanimous so far of people saying they like both series. The number of posts in the "Buffyverse: Television & Film" (and "Polls of the Verses" subforum) is fairly evenly split between both shows. The amount of activity in the "After the Fall" forum is pretty comparable to the amount in the S8 forum, thru the first 6 issues of both. And personally, speaking anecdotally (because after all, that's all your observations were, as well), I haven't seen any noticeable drop in interest in "Angel" over the last 5 years, or shrinking of the fanbase. At least, not in comparison to "Buffy", because obviously both shows have had a dip in popularity during that time, only because they're not on TV with new episodes each week anymore, and the more 'casual' fans have moved on to something new. I don't doubt that there are more "Buffy" fans than "Angel" fans, but I don't think it's by a huge amount. I also don't think, among the fans that like both shows, that most of them like "Buffy" way more than "Angel". Think there's even just the tiniest chance you're projecting your own personal dislike of (or at least, disinterest in) "Angel" over a much broader spectrum of people than those that actually feel that way?

Unless it had just slipped the writers' minds that she was, in fact, only 22. All of the characters seemed different on Angel. Part of that was intentional, of course, because of the natural changes characters go through as they experience life, but even with one-offs, like Willow's guest shot in "Orpheus" - she was totally different from Willow on Buffy. It was like the writer and/or director of that episode didn't really know what the character was like. There were a few episodes that I saw that I really liked, but in general, I just couldn't get interested.

I love the dynamic of Spike and Angel together. The problem is they're both so similar in so many ways and they HATE it. Best couple of them all I think lol Well, aren't you Mr. Dicey Semantics? I repeat, I never said people don't like Angel. The person in the other topic asked people to be more active in that part of the Angel forum, and I explained that right now people tend to be more interested in Buffy. Which is true. There isn't that much hype about Angel or the comics. Nobody's really going crazy over the events that happened in the new ones. Angel fans seem to be more casual and mellow about their series, while Buffy fans still have that excited energy from when the TV show was on. Not to mention Buffy is a worldwide icon. And I think she'll be a lasting one. But I think Angel, like the many spinoffs that came before it, while it may have a core fanbase that watches reruns every once in a while...will eventually fade away, or at least never step out of the cult status it has. That's not about liking it or not. It's about interest. I still love Rainbow Brite. But it doesn't mean I'm going to sit down and watch it every day, LOL. Joss Whedon himself seems to have lost a LITTLE interest in Angel. Good job removing the quote that incriminates you, where you clearly state that many of [you and your fellow Buffy fans] don't care about Angel.... ....but I agree Buffy has icon status that Angel will never achieve.
