I'm curious to see who all likes Connor here, and why they do or don't.
I'm a Connor fan myself. I really love the character. Sure he has his annoying points in the show, but what character doesn't?
After going through what he went through, who wouldn't be traumatized and angry? He made a fantastic arc through the series, and I just love him in season 5, especially after he finds out the truth about Angel. And I do enjoy that he is trying to deal with his different lives in After the Fall. He's still going to need some time to go through that and figure it out, but he's still in a better place than he was in season 4.

(polls scare me) The kid has definitely been through a lot. And I can sympathize with that to an extent. He's never really seemed to be a single character. Kill-my-family Connor, love-a-demon Connor, normal-kid Connor, who-the-Hell-am-I Connor. He in a way seems to be used by the writers who write him. I voted "Kinda" because I just don't know. But I do accept him as a good character and always had before now. "I'm surprised you haven't met one of my fathers." Such a great quote from ATF.

I thought he was OK towards the end of season 4 and when he was on season 5.

I'm gonna say "kinda". I liked him a lot at the end of S3, even when he hated Angel (and Lorne, and pretty much everybody), because I felt like he had a lot of potential to be an interesting, conflicted character who'd bring a new dynamic to the group. And of course, I like him in S5, when he's a really normal, likable kid. It's just S4 where I CAN'T... STAND... HIM!! All that potential he showed for being a great character at the end of S3 was wasted, as he was turned into nothing but Evil Cordy's lapdog/mama's boy. I really end up feeling bad for Vincent when I watch S4, because he's a great actor who seemed forced to take the bullet for Charisma's unexpected pregnancy, and deserved better than what he got. I'm glad they were able to bring him back and redeem him the following year.

I know there are a lot of people who dislike him, and I respect that, I can see how and why they see that. I get annoyed by him too at times, but I do like the character he developed into a lot.
Grossest Connor moment ever? Cordy/Connor sex in Apocalypse Nowish. Yick....

Not for me. I couldn't stand that he knew the entire time that Jasmine looked like that!

That's also gross, but Cordy/Connor sex was worse for me.

Season 3: Mislead and confused. Season 4: Mislead, confused and semi-evil, with the letting people be eaten and trying to blow Cordy up.
Season 5&6: Who the hell knows.
I don't know who Conner is today, mostly because I have so many questions about the memoryspells. Did the family volonter to have another family-member or were they forced by Angel & W&H? Did the youngest members agree to have an older son?
I know that I can't ask Connor to give the family's memory back, that could hurt them if he doesn't do it right, but I have no idea if he feels guilty about that. He's probably split about a lot of things and he seems to be nice now, but GOD THAT MEMORYSPELL ANNOYS ME! because I don't knowm what to think about Angel, Connor (or Wesley, because he didin't tell the others about the spell when he got his memory back).

THe whole sex scene between Conner and Cordelia make's me sick. It's not just because of the age and or fact that Angel and Cordelia were in love and Conner sleeping with Cordelia was like him sleeping with his mom. It was also the way they had sex it just was not a very good sex scene.

I said 'Yes' because I like him a lot now. For most of Season 4, I didn't care for him. Then Origin came around and made me like him. My friends and I were like "What?! Connor has a sense of humor and a coolish personality?"
So I like him now. It took a while.

I love the Connor character. He's the best thing about season 4.
I don't hate him for the Connor/Cordy storyline but I do hate that story. Cordy should have never returned from heaven. The evil manipulative character could have easily been a new female character who Connor protects and falls for. Cordy would then return from heaven instead of waking up from a coma in "You're Welcome". Imagine how much better the Cordy character would be without the awful season 4 stuff?

Kinda.
At first, I thought he was a douchebag. When he was always complaining "Your not my Daddy, I already have a Daddy" bullshit. And when he was Jasmine's bitch. I was like "GROW A PAIR ALREADY!" But in season 5 he developed more and I stated to like his character. And I have been liking him even more in season 6.

I've always liked Connor.
In Season 3 I wasn't exactly interested in him, but I do like his entrance onto the show.
I loved his character progression in Season 4, the place that his head is at by the end of the season is just heartbreaking.
Season 5, of course he became an even better character.
I absolutely love what has been happening with his so far in After the Fall, making him remember every single detail that has ever happened to him (even all the way back to Darla's womb) was a brilliant development.

I voted that he was annoying.
I felt that, story wise,he was an intresting character. With everything that he went through,I felt that the development of Connor was well done. Character wise,to me,came off as real annoying(perhaps it was the actor,or the teen angst overload)In S5,he was more balanced

I liked Connor. He was a very tragic character. I loved watching his character progression, it's a very sad and touching story.

I voted kinda. Conner I like in retrospect, but whenever I rewatch S4 episodes it becomes clear that he should have been more of a recurring character than a regular one. His scenes are just so repetitive and annoying after a while(especially the ones with Evil!Cordy). VK even admitted that he felt he was playing the same scene over and over again and wasn't surprised fans wanted him gone. Still, the stuff in "Peace Out" and "Home" is brilliant. Too bad it took so much crap to get there. Imagine how much better the Cordy character would be without the awful season 4 stuff? Its more like imagine how much better season 4 would be without the awful Cordelia stuff. S4 didn't effect my opinion of the Cordy character at all, but that might be because I marathon ran the whole season on DVD in two days. If I had to live with the ConCord deal for the 3 months or whatever it took for the Evil!Cordy reveal to happen, my opinion might be different. Still, the terrible writing and acting for the character is a huge sorespot, and makes S4 the most frustrating season in the entire buffyverse IMO.

Awesome post Wyndam. I was going to post my thoughts about the thread than I read your post. You summed up my thoughts about Conner pretty much to a T. I'm enjoying reading everyones opinion on the subject.

I didn't like Connor at all until season 5, only then did he start to grow on me.
