I just reread this issue, I loved the line from Buffy near the end, "And you were there. And you were there. And you were there." and Willow's "And Toto too?" So cute. I use to love The Wizard of Oz, a great little reference. I also think Jeph Loeb really captured the dialogue of the characters from those early years well, contrary to what others have been saying.

"Why do you keep saying 'again'?"
What does Buffy mean by that? Is she just confused and don't remember that Andrew has been in Madrid?

I'm still waiting on my issue. Was supposed to get it before Christmas, but TFAW requires me to wait a week--not counting the holidays--before I can complain about it being lost in the mail.
Grr, I want my Buffy!

Wow this was brief. Part of me wishes this and TOYL split the time between them more evenly. Season 1 is way more fun than future imo. Was great fun stepping back into those early days, and the drawings are worth the purchase alone.

Speaking of the Wizard of Oz, did that line spark "Oz" in anyone else's mind?

Am I the only one who doesn't get what's the deal with this issue? I mean I just don't know how it fits in the current season? Could someone explain this to me?

There are some pretty good reviews posted thus far. If you go back a few pages (to page 15 or 16, I think), you'll find some interesting thoughts on it.

Okay, I just read the issue last night. This is my first review for a comic, so if you don't wanna read this post, you dont have to. People have been saying it was too short, but I think it was fine. Sure, I would have loved it to be longer, but the length was average, I think. I like that we got to take a break from the big picture, and get inside Buffy's head a little bit... Or A LOT. We pretty much know how she feels now, and it should make all of us feel closer to her. I loved how Buffy was still herself stuck back in High School Years, it made the story more fun. And Buffy suggesting her friends' furtures was pretty humorous. I like that we finally got to see Dawn as a little kid. IMO, she acted like a normal little sister, : Annoying. xD It was nice to see Joyce again, she continues to be in every season. Go Joyce! Even wehen she is dead they can't keep her away. I see that they used a lot of lines from the Animated Series Pilot., but I didn't mind it one bit. Snyder looked very much... like a old Grump. lol I'm not sure, but I think that blonde girl with Cordy was Harmony. Now, my favorite part about the issue... THE ART! The art was amazing. I would have loved to see more of it in the Animated Series. I will totally be buying the art book for issues 16-20. As a side note, I loved 16-19 art too. These last five issues, IMO, have the best art so far. So giving this issue a rating... I'dgive it... 10/10. My favorite issue so far. ***** Cant wait for the next issue. ~VS~

I haven't gotten it yet (crazy house sitting rules are infringing on my Buffy mania) but this last page has me so hyped for it. I want to watch that animated reaction so very bad... but no...

My favourite issue of season 8 so far;
Buffy in chainmail, good look for her
So where's the new Slayer HQ?
So how come an exhausted Buffy just happens to stumble into Xander's bed? Hmmmm
I do like the art style of the dream sequence, kinda reminds me Sabrina the Teenage Witch
How wonderful is it to see Joyce and little Dawnie? It's just great, I hope we see Joyce again
Surely Buffy is way to young to have a Frankie Goes to Hollywood 'Relax' T-shirt?
Don't you think Buff's a little mean about Cordy being dead? Still, we now know that the Scoobies are aware of her passing, did they go to her funeral?
Ah, so that's what happened to Xander's skateboard. Instead of just being too difficult for Joss to film
You have to wonder, is the scene between Joyce and Buffy where she tells her she can always come home really the PTB or whoever is behind the dream reassuring her?
Terrific!

So where's the new Slayer HQ? Here's your answer, by Scott Allie himself: Check out the previous Q&As with the man himself here. The latest one can be found on the S8 board, and will be added to the compilation soon.

This issue is ma favorite so far. It's pretty simple, it's all about nostalgia. It took me right back to the old times when BTVS was only starting and it reminded me of simpler times. Pretty uneventful indeed..... but so worth it.

I was a bit confused with this issue. Buffy knows Cordelia is dead?

I was a bit confused with this issue. Buffy knows Cordelia is dead? Well, I took it like this: Buffy doesn't know Cordy is dead right now, but she was referencing the distant-distant future, where she knows Cordy wouldn't have survived because she is a mortal, whereas she knows Willow will be alive.

I like that much better than Buffy knowing and joking about Cordy death... because I fell sick reading that and seeing Buffy with a nice big smile on her face.

I loved this issue! I felt like it was a breath of fresh air after this whole "Killing Willow" business. I've been buying the volumes so I read it all in one night so having that stand alone at the end was definately appreciated. -shrugs- I dunno, I liked it. It had a lot of old humor that we just don't get now because they are all grown up. Well, I took it like this: Buffy doesn't know Cordy is dead right now, but she was referencing the distant-distant future, where she knows Cordy wouldn't have survived because she is a mortal, whereas she knows Willow will be alive. Wow, that joke completely went over my head. I guess I figured that Buffy made that joke because Cordy was being so cruel at the time. That joke makes alot more sense now...

That line was still kind of weird to me. Not just because Buffy was being so cold, but cause it is very unlike Buffy to be that cold. It's just not true to her character. That's why I hated so much. I hope you're right Smashed.

I hope you're right Smashed. I am bad, I delighted in that joke. It's something you would say in a dream, where your dark side may run free. Even in the soul of the best of us, there's an abyss. It's the human condition. (Whow, I'm not usually one to overgeneralize like that.)
