I like the variant. I hope the whole issue will have this kind of art. And not. I have no idea what I want. George's art has so much life in it, but I want something different.
Does anyone know who will pencil it? Perhaps it said beneath the pic...

40 pages? Isn't that double the normal page limit? Is this a longer issue? If so then AWESOME. Even more Buffy flashbacky goodness.

Great variant cover! Looks like we can expect to see Angel, Cordy and Dawn in this one. But no Anya, apparently. Guess there is a delay, as most of us thought there would be. Almost a two month wait. Just to clarify this point, the delay is only like 3 weeks. Issue 18 is due September 3 and Issue 19 should be released the first week of October. So instead of waiting 1 month for issue 20 we're waiting an extra three weeks since it will be released November 26 instead of the first week in November.

Does anyone know who will pencil it? Perhaps it said beneath the pic... Eric Wight. What really annoys me about this cover is that it ruins the continuity of Jeanty doing all the variants thus far. I'd been hoping that Moline would do the ToYL variants, but when he didn't, I reconciled my disappointment with the fact that, "Oh, well, at least having Jeanty do all of them gives them a nice, consistent look all the way thru the entire run" (which the painted covers don't have anymore, thanks to the 5 issues where Foster replaced Chen)... 40 pages? Isn't that double the normal page limit? Is this a longer issue? If so then AWESOME. Even more Buffy flashbacky goodness. No, that includes the ads--look back thru some of the previous solicitations, and they all say "40 pages". This one should be the standard 22, or if not, just 2-4 pages extra.

Well there goes my bubble a bursting. I had never noticed that the solicitations included the ad pages into the count as well.

Eric Wight isn't the only penciller, though. Georges is also doing some of the interiors. It seems Georges will do the scenes in the present and Wight will do the flashback scenes.

I'm very excited for this issue. Normally the idea of flashbacks would upset me a tad, but in this case I'm very optimistic. Plus, the art looks like it will be brilliant.

I dont think that there's a few days delay if you consider the fact that issu 18 is scheduled to be released in sept 3 ,then issu 19 smewhere round the 4 of oct and then in normal circumstances one should expect the issue to be released somewhere between the 3 till the 7th or 8th day of the month , instead its gonna hit the stands on the 26th, it could be worse like the 26th of december-now thats what i would call a major delay ;D . Then there;s the factor of living outside the US, especially in the east of europe when one will have to wait for about 15 days after the US release till he/she gets it in their hands ...

It says Jeanty does the varient...isnt that his sig? Georges does the variant... and yes, that's his sig at the bottom. I think the confusion stems from the fact that Georges drew it in the same style as the animated series. Which bodes very well for his copying skills.

Awesome variant cover, great work by Georges there. I wouldn't have realised it was his until butters pointed out that was his sig! I love the fact that the 'Alpert' mausoleum is in the background. ETA: Hires covers now up at CBR, pretty. comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=17671

Wow, that really is by Jeanty! Doesn't change my criticism, tho, that it's so different than his first 19 covers that it completely spoils the nice, consistent look I was hoping the variants would have all the way thru. Apparently I'm the only one who can't stand this style of art...

Apparently I'm the only one who can't stand this style of art... I'm not a big fan, but it is a standalone, and since it's supposed to revisit the high school years, I find it rather apt, as the animated series would have taken place back in the high school days (at least that's what I thought, after viewing the short clip on one of the other boards).

I suppose the delay was to be expected. Thankfully it seems like we'll still get issue 21 before the year's end though.
And I have to say, I absolutely love this variant, and I can't wait for this. Will definitely buy both covers.

I'm looking forward to the story--a HS flashback issue sounds cool, and I'm sure it'll have some relevance to the main S8 story--but this style of art just isn't for me...

It would have been awesome if they kept that style of cartoonish Buffy characters and had every single character that was significant to the story on the cover.

I like the variant cover, although it is a tiny bit disapointing that we have seen those drawings of most of those characters.

Yeah, I'm not really digging the varient. And usually I prefer the varients to the main covers.
