I've always meant to read Fray, but either I can't find it or I'm low on cash. Totally plan on getting it before July though.
As for the whole "time travel" thing, I know that Joss has played with it (see Time Bomb, Get it Done), but we've never had a full out "this is the future and you are in it" setting and all that goes with it. This should be very interesting; I'm comfortable saying that Joss will keep it from being yet another trite time travel story. The kind that one sees on nearly everything sci-fi.

I also recommend those who have not read Fray must do so. I'm liking Season 8, but I enjoyed Fray more then Season 8 so far.

Well, now I feel the need to buy Fray.
Are all of the issues collected in a TPB?

Yeah I impulse bought Fray a while back (before Season 8) and I really really dug it. It's a complete and very cohesive story (unlike Whedon's sort of... all over the place writing in Season 8...not that that's bad, just different) and it's now pretty easy to get ahold of in TPB format.

The sales of Fray are going to sky-rocket. I find myself more and more alienated by season 8. Probably doesn't help that as a TPB buyer I've still only read issues 1-5 I'll look forward to this arc in 2050, lol

The cover is gorgeous. Its like a mix of the covers from #8 and #10. I wonder why Buffy is so dressed up, she's wearing heels! This should be good. I wonder how and why Buffy goes to the future? I guess to stop the whole end of magic end of the slayers thing.
Can't wait till summer!

well, I don't know if I prefer Fray coming onto Buffy Season 8. I guess it will be an ok idea but I hope she doesn't stick around longer than issues #16-20. She better not stay, that's all i'm sayin.

That's a brilliant cover. I'm happy to have Jo Chen back too. It's great that Karl Moline is doing the art for this arc, I really enjoyed his art. I can't wait for this arc now! I wonder what it will be called...?

But why is frays axe red?? Remember this is two hundred years in the future. The axe could have hid its fair share of wear and tare. The silver may not be so silverish as it was in Buffy. When she found it, it was protected in stone. Who knows where it was left after magic was gone.

I think that Karl Moline's Fray art was way too cartoon like whereas Georges' is more true to real life. Oh I dont know whether I like it! georges' art true to life? ? i dunno bout that.....

Oh wow. I have soooooo much to say. Hope no one minds if this post comes out schizophrenic, hehe. Ok, first off, yes, I wholeheartedly recommend everyone use this as an impetus to finally read Fray. Oddly enough, I actually just got it myself a little over a month ago. What perfect timing, huh? I'd been intrigued by it for a long time, but somewhere between growing accustomed to the Buffyverse in comics, learning that it's considered canon, and yearning for more Buffy/Angel in the insanity-inducing month-long interims between releases, I finally broke down and bought it. First off, I would suggest to those of you in search of it to buy it from Things From Another World. I had some difficulty finding a new copy for sale at first (I even work at a Barnes & Noble, and they can't order it anymore), and I won't settle for a used copy cause... ick. Eventually I found they were selling it, and so I got one from them. They sent it to me packaged like it was some kind of holy artifact. It was pristine, and so snugly packed there was no way it could get marred in shipping. So for those of you neurotic like me, they're the way to go. ANYWAY, (back to topic; told you this was gonna be schizo with excitement), Fray was something extraordinary. Not just the comic itself, but the quality of the TPB itself. It was designed so well someone deserved a medal. Fray herself is something wholly unique to me in Joss' creations. Most Joss characters, I love from the start and just keep on loving them. Fray, I have to say, I didn't like at all from the start. She annoyed me. But she evolved. And well, very well. By the end I was shocked to realize how invested I was in her and her world. It was one of the greatest character arcs I've seen Joss pull off, and that's saying something. Now, onto this comic itself. I'm a little afraid of it. Not because of the issues of time travel people have been bringing up, or peoples' "I don't know" attitude about Fray. I'm afraid of it because they're fighting. And I know, right now, with 100% certainty, that I'm not gonna know who to root for. That's going to make this arc SO hard to read. I still remember Angel Season 5's battle royale between Angel and Spike. It was one of the hardest hours of TV I've ever had to watch, simply because I was so torn by it. This is easily gonna be just as bad, if not worse. Interestingly enough, I think I'm in the opposite camp of most fans, in that I'm more intrigued by how this is gonna affect Fray than how it'll affect Buffy. Yeah, it'll probably change things a bit if Buffy learns about the banishment of magic, and that it's quite possibly her that does it. But I'm really intrigued by what this'll all mean to any future works of Fray. As the only Slayer in history to ever be disconnected from the Chain, what effect is meeting a past Slayer and learning some of that history going to have on her? Especially given how intrigued she seemed by past Slayers in her comics? EDIT: And, as if I weren't already taking enough of a stand against popular opinion here, I'm gonna have to say that while I generally love Chen's covers, I'm a little iffy about this one. Buffy looks great, yeah, and the dueling scythes? Beautiful. But Fray looks a little freaky. For one, I always got the impression she was of Asian descent. Here... well whatever she's supposed to be here, it's definitely not Asian. Now, I realize that my impression was quite possibly wrong, so I'll look past that. But still, despite ethnicity, she just looks... freaky. (Related side note: In the sketches, Karl's likenesses of Buffy are wonderful, so no worries there) Last but not least, I wanna know. Who is everyone else rooting for, Buffy or Fray? I'd start a poll, but I think that'd be unwise this soon in respect to those trying to avoid spoilers. So I'll just ask here. I think I'm gonna have to lean more toward Fray, just because Buffy can be a really self-righteous bitch a lot of the time. To quote a certain red-headed (though not at the time) wicca: "Oh, Buffy. You really do need to have every square inch of your ass kicked." (Another related side note: Who else would love to see a little Giles vs. Urkonn? I know it's not gonna happen, but something about Watcher vs kinda-pseudo-Watcher sounds awesome to me. Hmmm, how about a little Giles vs Psycho Happy Fire Time Guy while we're at it? )

who said they were fighting? i doubt theyre going to be against eachother for the whole arc, maybe when they first meet theyll initially not get along because theyre both very confrontational girls but i doubt its gonna be another buffy vs faith because fray isnt evil. neither of them are. theyre on the same side. and im sure they will realize that. im so excited for this and about they scythe they look the same to me, and its the same weapon just a few hundred years older... but i would rather see them fight together and help understand eachothers roles in all of this rather than fight for four issues, although it would be cool to see who would win in an initial fight. my moneys on buffy

I think this will end up being another Issue that will make Buffy grow more away from the world or help her get back into it. With the help of Fray. To show her what the worlds come to because of Buffy and the gang maybe. well if its there fault and all.
