I pulled out the DVD's to come up with this. It is Deluxe as I believe that's what's needed most The most needed variant from figures that we already have: Deluxe "Surprise" Angel
1. Deluxe "Destiny angel body" with shirt painted solid blue 2. Deluxe Hawaiian shirt Angel Head 3. Deluxe "Destiny" Spike trenchcoat
And there it is, a deluxe "Buffy" Angel

I think a buffy form the harvest would be cool.
the end scene of her on the stage...use a deluxe body with the top painted white and legs black with an EOD buffy head with a newly sculpt high ponytail on her head.
Also the buffy from welcome to the hellmouth...when she goes to the bronze. EOD buffy head with a bun on her head instead of ponytail...black paint on the legs white top with removeable blue jacket.

Hmm I dunno. Kevin is saying they talked about options and everything that has been tooled has been released. Otherwise they'd have lost money in not releasing the Willows despite the tooling. So this means that the Deluxe Willow variants were never tooled? This is so confusing and disappointing.

Our only chance at a new figure using existing parts would be getting DST to use the head of the final battle mal figure from serenity and then just paint the bangs down on the forehead. It wouldn't look bad at all. They would have to use a deluxe Spike body and paint the collar on but it could work and we would get a new character in Caleb. Begin Rant. That comic book is selling out in TN so it has to be selling everywhere else if even a bunch of rednecks would buy it yet DST needs more interest in Buffy? DST is just looking for excuses to hide the fact that with their recent license purchase of Star Wars that they can't afford to take any chances or tool a figure that won't bring 110% profit. Star Wars? Hasbro has been making Star Wars figures for 30 years now, i'm pretty sure that they don't need help from a company that can't even handle the licenses that they already have. Star Wars is one of if not the most expensive toy licenses to acquire and it's hilarious that DST thinks that they are big enough to handle it. Poor decisions on DST's part have brought us to this point. Things like "Hey let's release Deluxe series 2 and ignore basic versions of both Spike and Angel and put them in Hawaiian shirts instead." Or "let's sculpt deluxe vampire Angel with his mouth closed cause who really associates a vampire with his teeth anyway" and "let's make 20 Willow figures and ignore Buffy herself" and the latest "companies are begging us for exclusives that we can't provide because we can't afford the tooling since we think that there just aren't enough Star Wars figures in the world so we sunk all of our money into them." Now we're stuck hoping for a figure consisting of already used parts while DST tries to run alongside Hasbro and make a bigger name for themselves, i've got a bigger name for you DST it's just not appropriate for this forum. End rant. I feel better.

Damn that sucks! However, I won't let the line go out quite like that. Here are some ideas I currently have, buy do expect me to update this post as the day goes on. BTW, I have yet to fully read Adam's post, so I'm sorry if there's any over lap Deluxe OMWF PJ Xander (50's torso, S7 Xander shirt and head, and just about any arms and legs) Deluxe OMWF Finale Xander (Destiney Angel figure, primarily, with Xander head) Generic High School Xander (e.g. Witch) (Vestless Miitary Xander) Deuxe Vamp Xander (somewhat unnecesary, but easy to do) (50's Angel torso and legs, Vamp Xan head and jacket, Destiny Angel arms) Deluxe Halloween Xander (50's torso, SH Spike jacket and arms, Angel legs, Xander head) Harvest Buffy (Cheer torso and head, Chosen Buff arms, and legs [anything would probably do]) Orpheus Willow (Chosen Faith body, Deluxe Willow head) Like I said, those are just some ideas, but I will spend th whole day finding more . If the Willows were tooled, though, I'd have a billion more ideas. EDIT: I've got more ideas already Becoming II Buffy (Cheer V-neck and arms, legs, and Prom head) Grave Buffy (EOD head, Cheer V-neck and arms, legs)

Are the parts available for kit bashing limited to the Buffy line or could they use peices from other DST licenses? Do DST have access to MAC parts?
What about a Grave Buffy using the body form Transformation/Together Forevor Willow with human Darla arms and EOD Buffy head. There would be no belt but it would still be pretty episode acurate.

"Who Are You" Faith in Buffy's Body/Buffy in Faith's Body 2-pack Faith in Buffy: Primeval Buffy head (hair sculpt not quite accurate) and arms, Gift Glory torso, Dawn's legs. (Blue shirt, black pants) * Buffy in Faith: Chosen Faith repaint. (Black shirt, jacket, and pants)
*Dawns legs would fit Glory's torso and Give Buffy extra height to match Faith's height.
EDIT: To make Buffy even simpler they could just use a Primeval Buffy and paint the shirt blue. The shirt would be too long...but we're looking at close enough for a lot of these anyways.
Or they could make a Sanctuary Faith using the Sanctuary Faith figure!
EDIT again: OMWF "Going Through the Motions" Deluxe Buffy: Deluxe Buffy, EoD head, black jacket, white shirt, blue jeans, and a cross necklace either painted on or actual like Anyanka's amulet. She actually has a bun in this scene, but EoD's head is the closest.
OMWF "If We're Together" Xander: Military Xander with out the vest. Green shirt, Blue Jeans.
OMWF "If We're Together" Deluxe Giles: Desiny Angel Body and jacket with Checkpoint Giles Head. Blue shirt, Black Jacket, Or no jacket with Watcher Box Set Wesley body and arms.

Excerpt from Kevin's email to me: "Hi Phil- I will try now to elaborate on this figure business. I had a couple of plans to implement after toy fair, but they now all have snags. Mainly I wanted to pick one figure and go with a slightly lower run (say 2000) and promote it as the final figure. Sort of a farewell to the line, go out with a bang sort of thing. Problems here are, that DST does not want to imply the line is cancelled and does not allow for a figure to be announced as the final figure. They still have the license for some time and do wish to find a way to extend the production of figures. (so that is good news I suppose). It should be made very clear that no one is the "bad guy" here, DST has done a lot for the line and have tried lots of things that never had a chance to even make a profit for them (Library playset, accessory packs, etc). DST wants to continue the line as much as we all do, they just have to find a way to proceed that does not lose money. Retailers have done their best to take pre-orders and sell the offered figures, but without much result. The fans at the forums have particated in pre-orders and BAF days, so not their fault either. We just need more fresh customers to come on board. Since nothing is tooled, we are left with only the option to make 3000 of a figure. Problem here is we only sold about 1000 Buffybots, Vampire Xanders and even less 50's Angels. Basically we lost a lot of money on the last 3 or 4 exclusives we did on Buffy product. So there is no room here to lose more money. I'm even willing to go forward at a "break-even" scenario as a good-will gesture to the fans that have supported the line this long. The BAF days were good to us but even factoring in those sales we still have lost a lot of money on the last 4 exclusives and last 2 waves of figures. We have lots of DLX Willows to sell through and lots of Xander wave figures. (mostly Xanders) plus all of the exclusives. Of course NONE of this lag in sales is due to any of the forum members at both BTVS and SA, as they are the devoted few who do purchase the product. There just needs to be more fresh customers and collecters from other genres interested. I thought that the comics would bring new figure customers on board. I was wrong, as we have gained new customers who are buying the comics, it seems that almost all of them only buy comics with virtually no crossover into figures. There are more figure buyers who have started to buy the comics, but few the other way around. The plan DST has for now is to stir up ideas for a wave of kit-bash figures, maybe 3 or more figures that could be made entirely out of tooled parts. Must be complelty tooled parts and must also have enough appeal to solicit to other stores and get a response. So a way that we can help at the forum is to collect ideas for figures made from tooled parts. The only tools parts we have to choose from are actual parts from already released figures. Also, some parts are not cut or engineered to fit together, so if a joint does not line up properly form figure to figure, then that combo cannot be done without new tooling. There still is the option to pick a figure that has been sculpted but not tooled) and go with 3000 pieces for a TST exclusive and pre-sell it with the condition that it will not be made unless pre-sells were to rest a certain threshold. But we cannot bill it as a final figure, just another exclusive for now. However, I doubt DST would like this idea as it is most likely to result in disappointment and yet another cancelled announced figure. I wanted to implement this concept along with a more limited figure (like 2000) and in conjunction with one more BAF Day to get the job done. However, I do not believe we would have success with a 3000 piece run, even if DST allowed us to try. So, to summarize, the Buffy/Angel figure line is NOT cancelled. DST wants to continue the line. More figures are being worked on and if a financial way can be found to make a kit-bash low-cost wave that does not need to sell as many as normal, then we may get something near end of year. But, for now, nothing is on the schedule for 2008. If a event such as a movie or the Ripper TV show would happen, then there would likely be enough interest to amke new tooling for fresh figures. At TST, we will continue to brainstorm for ways to squeeze out a figure(s). Brainstorm no. 1: Do you think many would buy a limited edition boxset of 12 fan cover comics packaged with a Gunn figure for say $120.00. What if Gunn came with two heads (vamped and reg)? Current subscribers could add the Gunn figure for just say $20 more. (just ideas here...) Brainstorm no. 2: What if it was a three figure boxset with: Gunn, Angel and Ghost Wesley, or possibly Conner instead of Angel... they would all have to be tooled off same body, possible DLX body to even consider this... maybe package them with just the First Night stories to reduce the cost of the set.... or maybe throw Illyria in the set somehwere since that figure is sold out everywhere... ? We welcome more ideas, so maybe start some threads for ideas for figures from tooled parts, and possible ways to package them to get more profit for the retailer and DST so a fewer number could be produced and sold to make back the cost. Feel free to share this... Thanks for your help, Kevin" Let's get on this ideas things for sure. Okay I am all for a Gunn and would pay extra for him. I would pay 20 dollars for the rest of the deluxe Willows too!

I think the idea has huge potential. There are a lot of figures we have yet to get that can be made from what we have. I think the obvious choices are Fred and Buffy. Buffy because of all the head/hair options and the fact she's the main character; Fred because she was horribly under-represented. Fred would be so easy to do, it's rather ridiculous. The Illyria head has a great sculpt, and Faith hair fits perfectly and has the right wavy style she had at times. A Magic Bullet Fred wouldn't be out of the question, and we could even get something new from Season 3 or 5. Just an idea.

I honestly think that figures from Angel, even Gun, would sell much less than any of the main characters from Buffy aside from maybe Xander. I do think Fred would be a great seller though!

I think the boxset would work. But if they're gonna do that...why not just put the remaining three Willows and call it "Spellbook 2"?? I would rather have that then a Gunn that might look bad. I blame shoddy production, and quality issues for the doom of these figures. Paint apps were hit and miss, as well as sculpts. It sucks. The Willows are amazing and we have seen that. I would rather go safe and get them. I also would love another Buffy...OMG what about a Season 8 Buffy?!

It could be cool to do a season 8/6 2pack with Angel and Buffy. O am wondering if DST could use parts from other figure licenses because a season 8 comando Buffy could be made from some stargate parts if the scale matches up.

A Chosen Dawn isn't out of the question either. She could have Dawn head and hair, Chosen Faith upper arms and torso with jacket glued shut, Sanc Faith lower arms, and FHT Faith legs. Like I said, there are a lot of rehash possibilities that I think could be made.

Haha. I think we are on the same page Phil. We posted that idea at the some time. A season 8 buffy would be my first choice for a new figure. I would prefer a season 8 comando Buffy or something like that but it could even be a cool DLX repaint of GD Buffy with bare arms. She could have the issue one cover look with the same hair sculpt as the regular GD Buffy and the Buffy text on her chest. She could come packaged with the sythe and she could even be packaged holding it like on the cover of issue 1!

I'd rather have a Commando Buffy as well!
I think that if we got the new Willows, SO many options for kit bashing would THEN open up for us. Why can't they just give us those first?! Take a chance! LOL!
Seriously, Commando Buffy is possible! Use:
End of Days Buffy's head Dopplegangland Vamp Willow Legs repainted black (for the slim tights look) Normal deluxe female torso (Buffy's, Faith's, Chosen Willow, Kennedy, Kendra) Bare arms
Maybe give her some rubber attachments like a belt and holster for the scythe. A few guns, etc.

I remember an Ask Diamond over at BTVSfigs where they said they couldn't do any Season 8 figures because they didn't have the license for it. Shame, because it would be wicked cool.

If DST is in fact making Crush Dru, wouldn't it just make sense for them to make the Deluxe Willows? And then using those parts, have a kitbashed wave? If we got the remaining deluxe Willows, we could easily get:
The Gift Willow (panted legs with heeled feet, TL torso with jacket and arms and head) OMWF Willow (Smiley head with Vamp hair, V-neck upper torso and generic lower torso, OMWF Buffy arms, TL legs and skirt) WTTH Willow (Vamp legs and skirt, generic torso, OMWF arms, and Willow head) *might need new hair* Fear, Itself Buffy (Vamp legs and skirt, generic torso, bare arms with painted sleeves, Buffy head) *needs new hair*
and many many more. After that, all we would need is a new head here and a new part there and then almost any female is a possible. Even things like Home Lilah and Gwen could be possibilities.
