So, I just watched this today. And I friggin' loved it. Here's why: IMAGINATION: So many movies out there today fall into a formulaic blandness. They play out the same story over and over with the same beautiful-rich people speaking the same words. They don't even try to make new ideas, words, visuals, feelings at all anymore. In this movie I really felt the imagination shine through the sometimes overdone operatic storytelling. TRAGEDY: The story of Nathan Wallace is Shakespeare-style tragedy, with love and loss all over the place. Of course Anthony Head played the sh*t out of this character, and his singing was intensely focused, both in his "daddy" voice and his "repo-man" growl. He really dove into this role and it makes the movie. Along with his performance is Sarah Brightman's Blind Mag, whose story really could've been paid more attention than the annoying Luigi, Pavi, and Amber Sweet. INFLUENCES: This movie made really respectful nods at Sweeney Todd, in Shilo's confinement a-la Johanna, Nathan's reference to his repo weapons as his friends a-la Sweeney, and Rotti's scheming a-la Judge Turpin. I thought that these were great references to a beloved and successful musical, but were not straight-up copies of these scenes. Overall, I loved it and can't wait to watch it again and learn the lyrics! -Jen

I recently watched this movie for the first time, too! Really loved it, most of the songs were catchy and the direction was really awesome. LOVED Tony Head's character, he was so awesome. But I was really pissed off that he died Loved seeing Sarah Brightman, I've loved her since I was six and became obsessed with The Phantom of The Opera. Paris Hilton pisses me off beyond belief, but I am grudgingly forced to admit that she wasn't terrible. I have to say, though, absolutely loved the scene where her face falls off. All up a really great, very unique and very disturbing movie. 9/10.

Really?! I own it, but that's good to know for when I have friends making excuses not to watch it. Now they can't escape! Muahaha!

Yeah, that's actually why I watched it. Netflix recommended it to me based on my 5-star ratings of Buffy, Sweeney Todd, and Velvet Goldmine!

Maybe I'll give it another shot then on Netflix. I mean, I REALLY didn't like this movie, but so many of you are so in love with it that it is making me think that maybe I am missing something.

jellymoff, it definitely isn't the best movie, but I have to say go ahead and give it a second watch to see if you have a different response to it. Movies are like art, sometimes when I look at a painting I've made and hated initially, I really like it a week later (or vice versa!). Who knows!?!? -Jen

So I watched it last night. Wow, musical + blood and gore + Anthony H. = awesome! Truthfully though, I did not like most of the songs. They were just 'alright' for me. Out of all of them, I only liked a few that I found catchy. (liked the song the grave robber sings about the zydrate drug..."it comes in a little glass vial". )
I'm surprised to say this, but I did not mind (and truthfully liked) Paris Hilton in it. She played her character dysfunctionaly perfect....or should I say the dysfunctional character was perfect for her? Lol
Also LOVED the appearance of Joan Jett!...that was really cool. ;D

Personaly I loved the movie. The first 3 times I watched it I cryed at the end... Though I am close to my father so that might be why. I love the story, and the songs get stuck in my head often.

^ Just Anthony's parts for me... Shilo's is kind of "what rymes with this?" or as Willow would say, mostly filler...
