Think about it. Buffy has never been the same after she died. And even though some cool stuff happened in season six and seven, both of seasons were not as good as 1-5. Should Joss have just kept it at five seasons? Tara would have never died, and Anya would have been around too. Im going to say... No. Even though I love the last two seasons, I just dont think Joss should have done them. I dont know why, but I just feel that way. What do you think?

I'm not a huge fan of Season 7 and Season 8, but I find them both better than Season 1 and possibly Season 4. As for Season 6, it's one of my top favourites, right up there with Season 5 and Season 2. So no, I wouldn't drop them for anything.
Besides, there's something very wrong about ending a series dealing with female empowerment with the heroine's death.

Of course. I can understand why people don't like the last two seasons, I've read that some don't even count them in official canon, but I think the more Buffy, the better. Their was a change in feeling and the episodes weren't as consistenly good as previous seasons, but there was some great character development and some amazing episodes. The only thing that really disappoints me about these two seasons is that the Scooby Gang barely exists, but I hope that changes soon in Season 8.

Absolutely-with the exception of Tara's death,I enjoyed Seasons 6 and 7 immensely and am enjoying Season 8 immensely as well. And I agree that it would have been wrong to end the series with Buffy's death.
Best wishes,
Scott

You're not mean. You just have different taste. And I can't say that I get the people who doesn't count season 6 & 7 as canon, but hey, to each his own(or how you americans say it).
I myself can't see it as right or wrong. I just now that I'm happy that I got two more seasons.
Perhaps thinking of Buffy would have felt better if we didn't have the last two depressing seasons, because now when I think of Buffy I think of Willow's addiction to magic and Buffy's addiction to Spike, and if they show ended with season 5, I wouldn't have that sickening feeling in my gut.
But I also wouldn't now the characters as well and have as many laughs.
So right or wrong, I know that Joss decision to make two more seasons made me happy. But I don't favor those seasons.

Like said above, with the exception of Anya's death and the Buffy/Spike thing, I enjoyed Seasons 6 and 7...

I voted yes...I actually thought season 6 had some of the absolute best episodes, though it did have a lot that were just all right. I do agree with some others that i hope that the scoobies spend more time together like old times, though, it definitely feels a lot different when they are so far apart.

I agree with needing more than season 1-5. Of the two, 6 and 7, I think I might have enjoyed season 6 more. Season 7 started off wonderful and kinda fizzled out until the very end. End was stellar though, so...

Enough good stuff exists in 6 & 7 for me to justify their presence. They were a step down in quality though so I get the argument.
Season 8... pfft it'll never be the same level as the show. I know "it's cannon", and I'm enjoying it fine myself, but i'll never be a continuation of the story - just an extension. It's here for the enjoyment of the die hard fans that still exist, and it's doing fine.

I voted Yes... I really did enjoy seasons six and seven. Season Six is prob my second favorite season, I really liked how they got it to be very gritty and real. It was great. I would have not liked Anya and Tara to have died, but it unfortunately has moved the story along. I always welcome more Buffy, so to have 40ish more episodes is definitely great. I agree about Season 8...it is a nice little extension of the show but it won't ever be the same. I'm not even sure that a movie would be the same--it would be too short! At least we have some little bit of Buffy left for us.

Season six might have been rocky and maybe even disturbing to some, but what went wrong was almost reversed in Season seven, and Season eight is a welcome bonus. Some people say that Season seven was "the Buffy and Spike show," but all I saw in Seasons two and three was "the Buffy and Angel show."

With all you guys's due respect, you have got to be insane to wish season 6 and 7 had never existed. It's just sick. What about OMWF??? What about Storyteller? What about Selfless? What about about Normal Again, and Chosen? And I beg your pardon but Tara's death made for one of the greatest Buffy finales. I never been as moved as I was moved during the devastating ending of season 6. And I never laughed a loud as I laughed during season 7 with Andrew's hilarious lines. BTVS without Seasons 6 and 7 is like a chocolate cake without the icing. It's delicious but there's something missing.

Yes because it gave us wonderful eps like Him, OMWF, Tubula Rusa and Selfless. And because I want Buffy to live a long and happy life and die an old lady in her bed and not at 21. And I don't want poor Dawn to lose the sister and mother she loves within six weeks of each other

Seasons six and seven are flawed but crucial parts of the Buffy story IMO. All the darkness and depression that everybody moans about in season six actually adds a lot of layers to the characters and makes them far more human and three-dimensional to me. It might be tough to watch at times, but the characters emerge much stronger for it. I'm so glad Joss had the balls to take his characters to such dark places and really deal with the consequences, which most other shows would never dare. Season seven matters because it reinforces the female empowerment theme that the series began on. While season five is a better story, season seven is more positive and hopeful note to go out on, as it shows Buffy sharing her power with women around the world, instead of giving up on life because it's too painful and leaving the world without an active Slayer like "The Gift". The montage of the Potentials being activated and Buffy's "are you ready to be strong" speech is my favourite all-time Buffy moment. It's just so inspirational and moving, and as silly as it sounds, it makes me feel strong when I'm watching it. (Plus, Kennedy's hair swish... come on. ) Also, are these people who complain about Tara and Anya's deaths forgetting that seasons six and seven are the years those characters receive the most development? Up through season five, they were basically just the "girlfriend" characters with little to no depth of their own. It wasn't until their respective relationships were broken up and they were treated as individuals did they become full-fledged characters in their own right. So yes, they died, but they died much better characters.
