So What are everyone's thoughts on the 2009 calendar? Comparative to last year, I really like the new pictures. I do however, miss the quotes.
But there's one thing that bothers me a bit:
In January 2009, the main picture is Buffy and then it shows 3 pictures of her with Riley, Spike, and Angel. My problem is the picture that they show her with Spike. It's a picture of him attempting to rape her in Season Six. I hope this is just a production flaw with someone who was unaware. But it still bothers me and I wonder if anyone else noticed this.

Yeah, I also just got this and was about to post the same thing about January. What the hell were they thinking? I also miss the quotes but I agree that the photos are better.

The picture of her and Riley are them sitting down at the picnic in Something Blue, the Angel picture is when they are cuddling in Forever and right in the middle is Spike on top of Buffy ripping her robe off with her crying. EDIT: Here's a picture. Obviously not the best quality, but at least people can see how stupid it is:  |

My sister just got this calendar today and that was the first thing we noticed. The pictures are great...except for January. The pictures do not really go together making it very distracting, and we also happen to dislike that particular picture of Buffy in the purple top.
The January picture bugs my sister so much that she covered it up.
Other than January, the pictures in the calendar are well selected and very nice. Finally, a different picture was used for Anya, and that picture of Buffy and Angel together is my favorite of them.

I hated that picture of the rape from the moment I saw it in the calender.. ugh

Wow. I haven't seem this calendar until I read this, but that really blows my mind that they used that. Sure, I guess that was a pivotal moment in Spike's character development (I guess), but it is the only part of the Buffy series that makes me want to turn it off. I can handle death and tragedy, but that scene just reeks of icky. Did the person who put this calendar together never watch Buffy?

I think the person who put that page together hates Spike and Spuffy, in particular. It's just a really awful piece of fan merchandise. I know of a few fans so outraged they sent back the calendar and wrote angry letters about it.

I don't usually collect the calendars and stuff... a lot of the photos are reused over and over again.
But I agree that the usage of that particular photo was in really bad taste. How that layout even passed edits, I have no idea.

Oh dear God! That's awful. What were they thinking?! This is the first year in six years that I didn't get the Buffy calendar, but I'm pretty happy I didn't now. I wouldn't have wanted to look at that for a whole month. Also, if it's permitted, could somebody who has the calendar post images of all 12 months so I can see them? I'd appreciate it, though I'm not sure what the copyright laws are so feel free to correct me. Thanks.  |

Wow, that throws you off a bit, Buffy sitting with Riley, Spike trying to rape Buffy, and Buffy cuddling with Angel. They should have at least put it on a page where it matches the theme or something. You know? I liked the quotes, well I guess everything eventually comes to an end...except Buffy. Buffy lives!

I too am glad that I didn't find a 2009 Buffy calendar. That would also put me off. Would someone send me the name and address of the publisher - I would like to write to them to complain as well.

Yea, I saw it in a store and was considering buying it, but when I saw that January picture I immediately put it back on the shelf. It made my stomach drop when I saw it. :\ What were they thinking?

I'm going to write a letter now that I've seen this information. It really bothers me so I put a post-it note over it for this month. I just want the publishers to be more careful about the photos...plus it wouldn't hurt if they used different photos once in a while...But I'm glad that you guys are irritated as I am about this!

Yeah, I just covered mine up aswell. It's not just the fact that it's anti-Spike, but I don't want to have a picture of a women being abused on my wall for an entire month, it just feels sick.

Wow, that's quite a reaction for one picture. I'm just glad they are still making merchandise for us at all. I have the calendar and I'll be keeping mine.
