I liked this issue simply because I was wondering when we were going to see Harmony come back but this only adds more questions to the time frame in which we are on.
Soledad was an interesting little Slayer and reminded me very much of Faith. However, Im not too keen on the fact that a girl was murdered on live television and the world enjoys that. That doesnt seem like something that people would go form even if they were already pro-vampire. Im assuming that they just figure its all staged.

The art is from previous issues. The Buffy one is from TLWH (I think), Faith's is from the frame in which she's holding the dagger (in the flashback in NFFY), and Kennedy is from ToYL (I think the one where she says "Hey Red. Didn't miss you.") I bought a copy of Kull #3 last night, but couldn't find the other books to see if it's the same across the board. The text in truncated though (it says "continued on page 20")... so maybe it's different in all the books, or perhaps it's an ongoing thing with the other books, at least for this arc. Okay, so it's not new art. Then I'm not all that interested.

The more 'comic book' looking one and that looks like a magazine cover . I think it was good ... I still havn't read the #3 TPB tho(even tho I have it ) I got the other cover today and the cover callery for A/S:FTF vol.1 I really hope we see Cordy (a lot of her) in Vol. 3 The third TPB, Wolves at the Gate, is excellent in my opinion.

Thanks for posting! That was a great interview you guys did! I think the buzz surrounding Harmony has a lot to do with Mercedes, her comedic timing was brilliant and unpredictable, it's one of the reasons why I don't think Harmony translated so well in comic form.

Thanks! Yeah, we figured we'd post it over here so you guys would have the scoop. She was really such a pleasure to talk to!
I totally agree about MM's comedic timing. She's definitely humble in thinking it's not about her as an actress that kept Harm popular...but we really talked a lot about it and decided it's very possible that if someone else had portrayed her differently, Harmony may not still be around.
Scratch that, she probably wouldn't still be around...right?

Fantastic interview! She's seems like such a nice person and I love the idea of her keeping the cover for memories sake. Someone should send her a poster version. Great job, Buffyfest!

Really cool interview. Always nice to read followups with actors all these years after the shows ended.

I just received and read the 21th issue... And I think it's quite an amazing one ! But everybody has already talk about it so...
I would just like to, well, talk about one of my small concern... Somehow, the end of this issue is SO American way. I mean... Harmony is on MTV but, so far, MTV is not broadcast on every country ! So OK, after being attacked by a slayer on television, slayers became unpopular... Still OK, but then Willow says : "Buffy, it seems like the world doesn't like know...".. The world ? I mean, not every body in the world look at American real TV show !! (I'm not even sure that it's possible to look at it in every country). And even if Harmony is on CNN, it does not mean that everybody in the world get to have slayers (anyway, I didn't knew who was Anderson Cooper, I had to check through Google... ^^;; ). So somehow, I think this development of the story (which I think is really great and amazing !!) happen a little bit to quickly... OK with the Internet and everything, the news are going very fast. But the reaction of Willow : "the world" ?! It's especially meaningless from Willow, because she is supposed to feel the world. So, that's a little mistake, I think. Not a big one anyway, but still.
Now, with this "slayers getting public" things, they are going to show us a lot of stuff, in Japan, in Italy... But I think it's really tricky : even considering that the whole world knows about vampires and slayers, the whole world won't necessary hate slayers. I mean, people in every country are so different, the way they think is so different... We can see it every day ! Anyway, since they are going in Japan next issue, and then in Italia, they have to be really careful. Japanese people are not American (I know about it, I've been leaving here two years of my life), and they would not react the same way... First, when the announced "Wolfs at the gate", I was worried about the way the will show Tokyo. It was kind of OK, because the whole slayers army, for strange reason, didn't really met the Japanese people. Now, I suppose they are going to show us reaction of people ? So it's a little bit tricky... A lot of "clichés" could come out (same thing with the issue in Rome).
Well... Beside that, I really loved this issue. I just wanna say that, because everything is now about "Buffy against the world", the subject is really international. So they have to be deeply international in the way they are doing it...

American TV is pretty far-reaching though. I think MTV Asia covers quite a fair bit of jurisdiction (growing up in Malaysia didn't deprive me of MTV once satellite TV became available). Most developed nations have MTV, even if the programming isn't exactly the same as the American version. Most of the shows do make it over, though. So I'd argue that it's quite believable that quite a fair bit of the world would've seen Harmony chomping Soledad. And as you said, the internet has kinda sped things up even more.

It's kind of OK, but still...
Well, I won't talk about every country, but for example in France : MTV is just on cable... You have to pay to look at it. And it's quite expansive. In fact, if I check around me, I know nobody who pay for it. And anyway, not everybody in the world care if Britney is sick or not (just an exemple)... Well, I just checked on "MTV.com" the list of ongoing shows in the States : except MADE, I know no one of them. Yeah, that's true : a lot of American shows are going to other television, but it does take time. Few years, some times. The most of times, they have to change the concept, to adapt it... Because the way people are looking at TV is really different in every country. Just check the MTV.jp website, you'll see : it's very different (http://www.mtvjapan.com/tv/program/). And you know, in Japan, I never saw a "real TV show". It never went through the cultural difference, really !
Anyway, even if it's acceptable that the whole world get to learn about the slayers army, it's not OK to think that every body in every country react the same way... (and that's why I'm concerned about following issues).
Of course, I'm not angry about it, but I have the feeling that Whedon and all the staff always want to do the things the best way they can, and that's perhaps not. Now, it's tricky, and they have to be careful. That's what I mean.

(and that's why I'm concerned about following issues). I agree with your points, but I'd like to point out that just because the downloads etc were off the charts doesn't mean that everyone's reacting the same way. Some people need to see exactly what the big deal is. I watched "My Super Sweet 16" in morbid fascination. lol But I see your point... if the arc is concerned with the world reacting against Slayers, then one would have to assume that a great majority of the civilized world is reacting in a certain way. I think a big part of it may have to do with painting the Slayers as the new "Nazis". I can only think of one person I know personally that thinks that the Nazis "weren't that bad". College room-mates can be a very interesting bunch.

I just got this issue today. So the Latina slayer is dead? Serves her right if she is, nobody messed with Harmony like that. Clem! I was thrilled to see him again. I don't know what to think about demons being out in the open like that. That might be a little too much if you ask me. You would think the public would start freaking out. I'm guessing they're saving that for later issues. Centaur Dawn looks so funny when she's laying down. I wonder how the slayers will pull themselves out of this situation.

I can only think of one person I know personally that thinks that the Nazis "weren't that bad". College room-mates can be a very interesting bunch. Oh man...and I thought my current roommate was bad! Now I can tell myself "at least he doesn't have fuzzy feelings towards the Nazis." As for the issue, though. I think it was a good premise and had a pretty good story. I just think it was't put together in the best way it could have been. I laughed frequently (between Harmony and Andrew--who didn't?!?) and I really liked certain moments of it. I just didn't think it fully succeeded in getting its intended message across. Hopefully the other four issues will fill in the blanks, though.

Oh man...and I thought my current roommate was bad! Now I can tell myself "at least he doesn't have fuzzy feelings towards the Nazis." Said room-mate also believed in white supremacy, that the "real Jews" were blond-haired and blue-eyed, and that Palestinian Jews are "fakes who are manipulating public sympathy to get ahead". And that the brains of black people were... well, black (or at least blacker than white people's). Have no idea where he stood on Asians... but I think he did condemn me to hell.

Wow, and here I'd always thought that whole story in "Higher Learning" was pretty far-fetched. Apparently I went to a much different college (or didn't, but just didn't see the bad parts of it)...

Just a quick question: I just got my issue today and I love it! Only thing is, I notice people in the boards referring to the Latina slayer as Soledad. Where does that say it's her name? Did I miss that panel?

The slayer's name was revealed by Dark Horse editor, Scott Allie, in the Slayalive Q&A's we hold on the day of each new issue's release. We asked if the slayer's name would be revealed and found out it was Soledad.

Overall though, I did enjoy this issue. My hype meter was never very high for this arc (except for the last 3 issues), as I am really excited about Oz returning...in 5 months, but the overall message of this issue was really nice. No way I didn't know Oz was coming back Where and when did you find out? I thought the issue was ok. Hyped up a little too much. Can't really say more than that really. Looking forward to #21 as I hope it moves the story along. Plus I adore Satsu and Kennedy x

Jane Espensen is writing issues #26-30, and all we know about the arc so far is that Oz is returning and is central to the arc's story.
