Great pages! I am officially excited for this issue now. DeKnight's writing is tight, witty, and perfect for a comic. I can't wait to read the entire issue. Love the first page as well. Awesome art by Jeanty and the "Swell" text is awesome.
Satsu was always pretty "meh" for me, but this issue should give her some much needed development. Kennedy as well. I have started to like Kennedy's character more and more ever since Season 8 started, so I expect that trend to continue with this issue (and with Satsu as well).

I love that Satsu's snarky comment about ducking whoops her in the butt, quite literally. But I definitely agree that the writing is way tight in this issue, and I think a big part of that comes from Jeanty's fantastic art too. The panels convey so much information, that you get a character's personality, what they're saying, and how it's being received, all rolled into one. It's just as good as watching it on TV, IMO. |

Wow, I love the way this issue opened. Echo that on the writing being tight. I'm so excited for this one and that panel of Satsu grinning as she says, "Screaming. Blood. The usual." Yikes! Girl is hardcore and really enjoying her job.
The reflected image of the slayer in Satsu's blade on the second page - it looks like Renee to me. Anyone else see the resemblance?
Finally, we get to see Satsu on her own and developed independent of Buffy. Xi, I agree it really does feel like I'm watching the show almost. Everything is so clear, the language flows with the right tone and rhythm and the action is just so Buffy. I think this is going to be one of the best issues we've seen in a long time. ;D

I thought of Renee too, but in the wideshot, the girl has longer hair, no dangly feather earring, and well, Renee's been cremated (apparently). But in that mirrored shot in the katana, absolutely... Methinks the fandom should send Jeanty polaroids of themselves, so that he can have some variety to pick from for faces.  |

Lol, Xi! I didn't think it was Renee. Just that the girl looked like her. Considering how hilarious and action-filled this issue already is, I think its a good idea to keep in mind that DeKnight's episodes normally have a darker edge. He lulls you into the story with the trademark BUFFY humor and action, then guts you with character death and/or imminent disaster. His episodes on BtVS and AtS in the end left the characters (who survived) questioning themselves or emotionally traumatized. Blood ties (Dawn cuts herself with a huge ass butcher knife and questions her existence), Spiral (Glory takes Dawn and Buffy goes catatonic, Giles nearly dies), All the Way (Dawn kills the first boy...vampire she kisses), Dead Things (Buffy beats Spike to a bloody pulp then later falls into Tara's lap begging to not be forgiven) and Seeing Red (Tara dies, Buffy is shot, Willow goes dark). Episodes so ultimately dark you forget how they started out on a light and happy tone. I could do the same for the Angel episodes he wrote, but I think the Buffy examples are more relevant. |

All ethnicities accepted, and minorities are encouraged to apply (SERIOUSLY!). All body shapes welcome, but we warn you, your body will be modified to be more Slayer-esque. Complaints should be directed at the in-house yoga/pilates/taebo/bouncy ball coach... Oh... and this isn't a real ad. Just throwing it out there. |

I too am very excited for this issue but I also think its going to get very dark in tone. Something we have all been waiting for.
That did look like Renee and that's the first thing I thought.

I agree 100% about the reflection looking like Renee! It was my first thought!
I love Satsu...but she was a little too snappy for my taste in this preview. I'm about to reread it. Hopefully, I change my mind. :heartsatsu:

LOL! Great preview! Was the "Oh crap. Oh crap!" the demon thinking? If so, very funny! I think so. I thought that was the best part of the preview. Its a shame that Slayers slay first and ask questions later. He could have been a "Clem". Feeling threatened, he probably just acted out. I wonder what he was stealing. As for the reflection thingy looking like Renee, I have to agree. I miss my Brown Sugar. |

Wow, just read the 7 page preview and I love this issue already! I like the interaction between Satsu and Kennedy, I hope they can keep their hands off each other, I'd much prefer them to be Kick-Ass-Lesbian-Tag-Team-Friends than lovers  |

I love the preview, and the issue will be great. But I hate how long these previews are getting. I'm ok with more of a 3 page preview instead of double that.
