This issue was great. The vampy cats were a great little villian, the Satsu/Kennedy dynamic was nice. They work well together, like Faith/Giles. I'd like to see more of them.
The only thing that is disconcerting to me is the hyper-criticism of the issue.
I mean, do we REALLY care why the vampy cats are homophobic/misogynists?
*CUT TO SCENE*
Vampy Cat: "You're leaving me?"
Vampy Cat Girlfrield "Yeah, I'm gay now."
*CUT*
Would that make the issue better for some people? Please.
Regarding the submarine drama, if Buffy has helicoptors and planes, is it THAT unreasonable to think she would have people under her command that could operate a submarine? And she has been robbing Swiss banks, is stealing a sub that much worse?
With the explicit language in the comics. They used this technique in the television series multiple times, like when Willow teleported Glory above the city and says "Oh F- " and it cuts away. Is it really upsetting to some people that they beep it out in the comic series?
Or maybe I'm just easily irritated by stupid complaints.

I think that the swell was great and it was very similar to Smile Time but I feel that the outrageous humor worked well that once in the one season of Angel and its been used numerous times in S8. They need to tone it down and make the tone of the story more serious. Have to say, I think you have a bit of a case of selective-memory going on there. "Smile Time" was the only use of outrageous humor in S5 of "Angel"? What about "Life of the Party"? "Harm's Way"? "The Girl in Question"? Really, I don't think the amount of just out-and-out "silly stuff" in S8 has outstripped what you'd find in just about any season of the two TV shows...

I could care less about Satsu and even less about Kennedy (why can't she just die already?) *Sigh* Bashing Kennedy is so over... Well I was just stating MY opinion..which I have a right to...I wasn't saying that everyone should hate Kennedy or that you suck if you like Kennedy...I was just saying that I do not like her and I want her to go away. Why do people sometimes get bent out of shape when you state that you like or dislike a fictional character? Anyway...I do have faith that this is just a slow period...it's like a collection of filler episodes and I think it's going to pick up with the Giles/Faith issue and the upcoming OZ arc...I'm just impatient.

I got bent out of shape cos you were bashing a character I like. Gotta expect me to stick up for her. Save your hate for those more deserving. Like Rona!

Save your hate for those more deserving. Like Rona! OI! I happen to like Rona! Well... not like, but I don't hate her either. She brought a certain degree of believability to S7; not all girls are happy that they have the potential to become a Slayer, and until they're Chosen, they're probably just a bunch of scared little girls that resent being thrown into the heat of battle. There were plenty of girls that probably felt that way, but since Rona was one of the more prominent Potentials, for convenience sake, those lines went to her.

Yeah me too, they never swore on the show. Suddenly they own a castle and they are cursing like a...like a big bad curser. Yeah. It all ties into the theme of "power corrupts". Buffy's robbing banks, sacrificing innocents for the bigger picture... and saying naughty words! To be honest, it doesn't bother me, although I did find "eat their f***ing ovaries" a little OTT.

As OTT as this: Which one of you short-bus bastards turned the C.E.O. of Wolfram & Hart into a puppet? 'Cause I find them to be on the same level. And as shockingly not PC that line was from Smiletime, it worked for me.

I didn't find the ovaries quote particularly offensive. I just found it lame and crude and unfunny. Like something your alcoholic college roommate might scream in the middle of the street at 3 a.m. on a Friday night when his drunken binge is just starting to cross over from "funny" territory into "handcuffed to a police cruiser" territory.
By the standards of possibly the most clever and quotable show of all time... this was not so much.
If the Vampy Cats' personalities were programmed in by Warren Mears (which I suspect is the case), then the line might have been appropriate and fitting for the situation. But a classic quotable?

Little Pokémon cat things trying to eat ovaries? Gross. And weird. The "Smile Time" line was actually funny. Guess it's just a matter of personal taste. As Wexina said above, swearing isn't unprecedented in Buffy and it doesn't bother me at all.

I find the censored cursing in the comics a little annoying, too, because it's not something that happened in the show. The few cases that have been mentioned ("What the f--") were different, because the scene cut away before the entire word could be spoken. Here, the swears are right in the middle of a sentence, and blanked out. We never had a case on the show where a character said something like, "Get the f*%$ out of my library!", and the "f*%$" was muted or bleeped-- that's what's happening in the comics. It's not something that's really hurting my enjoyment of the comics, tho. Wouldn't have even mentioned it on my own, but since the subject came up...

One of my favorite issues so far! I'm glad we got back to Satsu, and I love how she's toughened up abit more; sort of grown up. I also really enjoyed the banter between Satsu and Kennedy, it came across really natural. And I like how Satsu still has the wicked cool sword skills I thought it was funny/uber cool for Satsu to have a submarine - a little odd that the other Slayers can work it, but hey, that's why we read fiction and not real life stories, right? All in all, a real kicker of an episode. I'd love to be on Satsu's wiccan squad :3

I finally got this issue in the mail. I really enjoyed it. I noticed that Kennedy didn't leave Tokyo right away. I hope she spends more time with Satsu.

i just read this one today. it was decent. i didn't care for the over the top sillyness but, looking past that, it was a good story. i liked the bits between kennedy and satsu. it looks like satsu is over buffy and i am def ok with that. not that i minded buffy hooking up with satsu. i rather liked that once it grew on me but i am happy that satsu isnt letting herself stay hung up on buffy.
i think i need to re-read this one before i make my final judgement though.

This issue was great, yeah there was a lot of profanity coming out of those crazy kitty cats' mouths. I really hope Satsu gets over Buffy, I know how hard it is to want to be with someone who's straight and who doesn't seem to give a flying f word what you're going through. I think Kenndy should definetly either become bffs or more with Satsu, that pairing is really working well and Kennedy seems a lot cooler when she's not with Willow and viewed as the replacement.
