Im pretty sure that the V.O. is Buffys. It just sounds like something she would say and at the point it is said, Andrew hadnt yet been considered family.

It seems like there's a lot of different opinions on this. I'm pretty sure it's Andrew and he's taking for granted that he's in the family at first, only to realize later in the issue that he's endangered his position. So then we see him at the end of the issue being reassured by Buffy that he's part of the family and that making mistakes means he's one of them. So what he took for granted, what he thought he'd done to then jeopardize his position, turns out to cement his role in the family. Should we start a poll about this? Because I'm seeing a lot of people with differing opinions on the V.O.'s identity.

I always believed it was Andrew's V.O. It seems like something he would say/think. I don't think Buffy would be that schmaltzy in her V.O's.

I always thought it was Andrew's, given that we open on him and it just seems like the kinda dramatic thing that he would come out with.
Someone should ask Scott Allie in the next Q&A. Clear it up.

I thought it was pretty obvious it was Andrew, but I'm wondering now how many people out there think it's Buffy. It was Andrew. There's no way it was Buffy. This issue was interesting and funny, although not extraordinary. Which seems to be Drew Z. Greenberg's trend. He never writes essential stories, just good dialogue with some nice character moments. Adequate, not exceptional. The art was mediocre and felt rushed. Only two or three pages were noteworthy. The inking also felt heavy, which ruined some panels, like the panel where Buffy has the gun pointed in her face and is upset. The opera house scene was very well done, the art and writing in that scene was the highlight of the issue. When Simone said "It's a war. No such thing as innocent" did anyone flash back to the Buffy/Faith fight in "This Year's Girl" at the college campus; Buffy: Faith, these are innocent people. Faith: No such animal. There is such a similarity between Simone and Faith, both are misled, but not necessarily evil. I'm glad this issue left the Simone storyline open, because there HAS to be a meeting with Faith/Simone before the seasons end. Overall, I liked the issue, the fight between Buffy and Simone would have been great to see play out on screen, but was still very well done in the comic page. It will be interesting to see the juxtaposition between this issue then "Safe", in terms of the Slayers fighting back (Simone) or hiding away ("Slayer sanctuary"). This will continue the "Predators or Prey?" discussion.

I as well think there should be a poll on this. To me, it just seems very right that its Buffy saying it and not Andrew. I could understand it being Andrew had the V.O. continued throughout the rest of the story but it didnt...so putting it in the opening, only confirms my thoughts.

I think it's obvious that it was Andrew.
And my thoughts on Simone's character changed after this issue. I assumed she was reckless and evil just for the sake of being reckless and evil. Didn't expect her to be calculative and so level headed.

Can we please NOT have a poll on this? It's quite pointless, as this isn't a case where a majority vote wins, so to speak. A poll would still have to be accompanied by people posting why they thought it was Andrew vs. Buffy, which is what we're already doing here. The majority feels that it was Andrew, but, this is something that can be cleared up rather easily by just asking Allie next time around. Funny that it didn't come up during the last Q&A session, though, given that the point of contention was in the 2-page preview that we had for ages.

It would defy the format of how comics are written if it were Buffy's dialogue. It would be the same as the captions in #21 being Buffy's.

Somebody could just ask Georges Jeanty when he comes in to do his Q&A, any day now. I'm sure he'd know.

Didn't expect her to be calculative and so level headed. See personally, I dont feel the same way. I felt that Simone was trying to come off as being more mature and level headed about the situation, but when she began to fight with Buffy, it clearly showed that she was still just a kid.

Ok, now this is too much to take! I mentioned that earlier but nobody picked up on it... I just wanna scream! So nobody thought it was LAME when the little girl showed up and she was speaking in English and Buffy asked her if she knew English and she replied that they taught them is school? It just felt so awkward. I mean I know it's just a comic and even trees know English in the Buffyverse but it just made me feel very uncomfortable because of how they got away with it. Like there's no way this girl would be able to communicate with a bunch of strangers from across the pond but hey she has to so let's say she's a genius in school.

I didn't really notice that much... maybe I was so distracted by my bafflement as to why the island wasn't completely surrounded by warships and helicopters of the Guardia Costiera...

Well, the girl is like 5 years old (at best) and she shows up very casually saying "No one is supposed to go in there"... so they could have gone on with their conversation and we would have forgotten that the girl is Italian and it's fantasy anyway, nobody really cares I guess, but they decided it was better to come up with an explanation so they had Buffy say "You speak English." And the girl says "Yes. They taught us in school". And then continues the conversation as if this was not the most ridiculous answer ever.
She could have said "well I used to live in the US or in the UK but my parents just moved back here" or whatever.
But no, "I've learned English in school". Even in high school they must be nowhere close to her level in English.
I know I'm just going too much into the details but still.
