Hey everyone. Not sure where this belongs, so I'll post it here and if a mod sees fit to move it, fine by me I just wanted to share my feelings for Season 8 and how they've set my life into motion. Sad I know, that I get motivation from a comic, but hey. I've always imagined myself helping Buffy out, saving the world, being a force of good. Being a Scooby, having cool friends, the works. It's only recently that I've started to put this into context in real life; as much as I hate to admit this, there are no real vampires. But there is injustice and other equally bad things in the world. So this is where I make my choice. People always complain about the Police and hey, I'm normally one of then. So what better way to change this, the world, even in the smallest possible way, than to actually be in the police? This way, I'm protecting those I love and at least in my own way, making the world a better place. So in conclusion, Buffy has led me to grow up and make serious decisions in my life. The gay roles have given me confidence to experiment and be more comfortable with myself, and the empowerment themes have kept my motivated. So there you go guys, how Buffy changed my life.

Buffy's a great bridging show for young teens into critical analysers. I loved the stories as a kid, and as I grew up I found the material rich for literal study. It's largely responsible for my development into someone with a passion for looking more deeply into telly and films. My girlfriend is convinced Whedon shows breed people who are great at english in general lol. Me and my friend used to be the only contributors in discussions in English back in the day, and we were both avid Buffy fans. She also has a friend who used to be heavily dyslexic and had massive problems with literacy, who's now excelling in english at degree level.... Buffy fans ftw. It also made me a comic buyer lol.

Ahah, that's funny you brought that up. As some people may know around here I am originally from France and I think my passion for English grew along with my passion for the show, really. It kind of drew me to the American culture and really changed my life forever. I've already spent quite some time both in the US and Canada and many of my best friends are American. I currently live in Boston, MA and most of the time I don't think in French anymore but in English. I know all this is really random but I truly believe it all started with Buffy and due to the show, in some kind of way, I've ended up doing what I'm doing now, learning languages, studying International Relations, living overseas, having my life in the US...

Buffy is the most influencial thing in my entire life.
I think that more people should read into Buffy and try to look past the ass kicking of it all and try to understand what it truly means. Ever since I first began watching Buffy, my day to day actions have been influenced by the show, as it has formed my thought processes and the way I present and feel about myself.
Growing up in school, I always was picked on (Im just like Andrew), but I was able to turn to Buffy and see characters like Willow and Xander who were picked on but ultimately saved all these peoples asses in the long run everyday, just trying to do what was right. This was able to get me through the really tough times when I was at a loss and had I not been able to turn to Buffy for answers, I fear I wouldnt have been able to cope. I know it sounds corny to outsiders, but Buffy, to me anyways, is essentially a life changing experience. Watching the way that the characters speak and react to all these situations and their emotions, has shaped not only the way I speak but also the way I, too react to different situations. I feel that the show has essentially made me mature much faster and on a much deeper level, as it makes me actually judge me morals. This is something that led me to me later years in high school, as feeling out of place. I felt that I was able to deal with adult situations, much like Buffy was forced to do since she was at a very young age.
Buffy also helped me in a very tough sexuality phase I was going through and continue to go through day by day as my feelings toward the world and people develop. It made me feel that even superheroes question their sexualities and have same sex relationships and feel on an emotional level. It made me feel like an actual part of the world.
And in a funny sort of way, Buffy made me buy comics...LOTS of comics.

Mostly, watching BtVS has influenced my language, as I am sure most of what I say is stolen from the show, such as "wonky" "kerfloofy" "a world of no" "you have but face" and many more choice phrases. Thank you Joss for creating such imaginative, witty language!

Everything I believe it has shaped specific parts of me. My view on certain things, that others may be wary of has put me at ease through watching Buffy. It has definatley shaped my sense of humour and enjoyment for television, because of Buffy I watched Angel and because of that I watched Bones. I watched Tru Calling becuase of Eliza's role as Faith etc.... I'd be lost without this show. At the very most I can go a few days, maybe even weeks without watching any but I always go back to it. Eith Buffy, Angel or Firefly...now Dollhouse.

Buffy has influenced my mannerism, the way I talk, the way I think. Virtually everything has been influenced by Buffy. Honestly, It's the only thing I think about. It's funny that Buffy is everything to me seeing as how the reason I started watching it was to mock how cheesy season 1 looked.

Buffy is life, lackbrain. Why do you think we watch it? It's what keeps you going. Makes you warm. Makes you hard. Makes you other than dead. Sorry, but when I read the question thats the first thing that came to mind...Buffy is life! Every problem that I have, I turn to Buffy...she has the answers! Oh and I too have also picked up the lingo...i'm forever using sayings from the show...one of my personal favourites - "you look like you just got diagnosed with cancer of the puppy"...that one always gets me a funny look or a "what are you talking about"!

Its very deep what you had to go through and I dont know about everyone else but I want to thank you for opening up. You had a rough time and I also had a rough time, one which I dont exactly feel like sharing with the public but regardless.
This only cements my idea that Buffy can mature you. It is because of this show that I matured at such a young age.

Buffy has ALWAYS been there when Ive needed a pick me up and it still touches me, makes me laugh and inspires me to this day, and will until the day I die. <3

Well, I got into Buffy really late (late 2007), but it's one of my favourite shows alongside Angel and for one, it's definitely shaped my sense of humour, most of which I picked up from Spike, as well as his phrase 'Bloody hell'. I use that one quite a lot. It's just one of those shows you just have gotta watch and it's a show that sticks with you all the way

two years ago, my best friend totally ditched me for some new friends, and a lot of other bad stuff was happening. my life had really started to suck when my sister's friend came over with season one of Buffy, and they were watching it while i was in the room. I started to watch with them, adn then she lent us each of the seasons one by one.
I couldn't help it. i was addicted. not only has Buffy taught me a lot about life, but it's offered me an escape from my own life. The world of Buffy became my sanctuary, and whenever i felt down i could just lose myself in another world.
It's also changed the way i talk and think. I've taken up the habit of using British swears, and perfecting my fake British accent. Not to brag, but i've convinced several substitute teachers that i am indeed, from England (which i'm not).

When i first watched Buffy I remember I thought it was called Buffy the Vampire, but then I quickly learned about the slayer part This show had everything; amazing dramatic scenes, awesome action, brilliant music, and some of the coolest characters around. When I watched it the first time it was just a show i enjoyed but going back and watching episodes I realized how much of an influential show this was for many people watching around the world. It spoke to all those lonely, outsiders who probablt felt the same way that Buffy, Xander and Willow were feeling on the first episode, before they came together as friends. I use to be able to relate to Willow, and the thing is, I've turned out to be gay just like she did. There's so many ways i can relate to her character. I hope to find my Tara one day but that relationship was one of the best portrayals of a gay relationship, it put a focus on the most important part of any relationship:friendship. I can relate to Buffy's feelings of isolation and confusion about what she wanted to be when she grows up. I can relate to how Xander had a tough time making friends with other guys. I can relate to Willow being shy and realizing she's gay, going through ups and downs but still mananging to be herself. I could relate to Tara's feelings of isolation and how she got used to it because it was just that hard for her to connect with anyone. This was brilliant and has a lot of inspiring things to say to those lonely parts that was each of us have.
