This is something semi-random I caught. I wouldn't have noticed it if not for the fact that my tattoo artist is epic. Anyway: For the ToYL arc covers (actually all the Jo covers with the scythe) and Karl Moline's work on the interiors the scythe is drawn in the style it was for Fray. Jeanty however's drawn it like it appeared on the show. The difference is that the Fray style the scythe is a solid, smooth curve basically. The show/Jeanty version has a sort of spike at the bottom of it.
Just something random I thought might be nifty for people to notice. [/geek]

This is already discussed here. I had also previously included a bunch of pictures to show the differences between all the different incarnations of the Scythe. You're right about the shape though.

This bugs the hell of out me, tbh. It's so unnecessary. We basically had two versions of the Scythe, the shiny present day one from Buffy and the worn-out one from Fray. I just assumed that it had been subject to wear-and-tear across two centuries, and had perhaps been repainted or re-shaped as well. If they wanted to be really specific, they could have tied the change in appearance to the end of magic or something; the Scythe gets more damaged as the Slayer army gets depleted. "Time of Your Life" totally f*cked up those theories by simply retconning both Buffy and Fray. All of a sudden, Buffy's scythe has lost the wee jaggy bit at the bottom and Fray's is partially silver. Both Scythes morphed together into some weird compromise that didn't mesh with previous depictions. Would it have been so hard to just look at a bloody design reference? Bad Karl Moline!
