I have become a big fan of Satsu over the course of Season 8...I even have a shiny new banner devoted to her! She's hot, she's a slayer, what more can you ask for?! As Buffy said herself: "“You’re hot, you have great taste, you’re a hell of a slayer, and you smell good.”Gimme more Satsu please! Anyway I'll making a few sig banners, use em if you want! I'm joining. I don't know much about her, but she's asian, hot, a slayer and lesbian, so i like her.
Also, she loves someone who doesn't love her back. That's moving.

when season 8 started, I never thought that I would love a new character, but I did. Honestly, when Issue 12 came out I hated Satsu and blamed her for what happened between her and Buffy. But I have come to accept it, and understand why Joss went there. Now I really like Satsu, she's strong...and I would love to know more of her history as well. I hope we get that someday!  Look at her in this picture...she has a bandaid on her knee, her shirt isn't very tidy, and her hair isn't it's usual 'best ever' here. Is it possible that she was a clumsy, accident-prone young woman before being chosen? That would be cool! |

I think it is foul that they made buffy into a lesbian god i already had to deal with willow being one (with kennedy its okay but i hate tara) ne way buffy doesnt like woman god oss get a clue!!!!!

Buffy isn't a lesbian. Just because she's expirementing with Satsu doesn't make her a lesbian. I don't really see much potential of Buffy staying with Satsu long term, she doesn't want to break Satsu's heart.
I personally didn't like Satsu much at first, but I've grown to like her. Unlike I've never grown to like Kennedy or Rona, I don't think that will ever happen.

Did you not buy Willow turning lesbian and Buffy sleeping with a woman twice (which makes her bi-ish, not gay). Was it out of character or are you just against homosexuality? And what is so hateable about Tara? What could she possibly have done to deserve hate? |

I'll jump on this raft. I'm neutral about the Buffy/Satsu pairing... but I do like her as a character. I love that teddy-bear shoulder shield/guard thing she wore in TLWH #4. Of the Scythe-activated Slayers... she's the one to come closest to Buffy's impractical Slayer wardrobe.  |

Ooh! Ooh! Count me in!  :heartsatsu: I haven't loved a new "Buffy" character this much since Andrew was introduced in S6. Still campaigning for the 'ship to be known as Saffy (which is very sapphic  ) rather than Batsu, tho... |

Sarah Michelle Gellar speaks a little Japanese from when she filmed The Grudge over in Japan. Could her life experience have been a cue to the creation of Satsu's character? Sarah's love of Japan is very well known. Perhaps said love inspired Joss. It's certainly true that Eliza's life experiences are reportedly taken as cues for storylines in Dollhouse. |

Thanks guys, I'm glad you liked it. I had a great time writing it. With all the controversy that comes along with the character, I didn't want it to outshine the positive role she plays in the Buffy story.
I agree, someone should ask Joss about his inspiration for Satsu. I always wondered how the artists got inspiration for the faces of comic characters, as well.

I was randomly sorting through my thoughts a while ago, and this post came to mind (yes, very random memory), and I think that CBG could potentially be on to something here. In #11, Satsu lands on her face in the mud, in what looked to be a fairly basic Slayer maneuver. Sure, she says that she isn't as fast as Buffy, but landing, last time I checked, less to do with speed, more with coordination.  If she really is a klutz... I'm hoping to see some more of that in #22, when she's being evaluated by Kennedy. |
