First the mag, now this. After reading my post at her site about Dark COngress and the Joyce-based novel coming, Nancy posted:
"Hi, I’m so sorry to say that I won’t be writing any more Buffy unless someone else picks up the license. There are no more books planned via Simon and Schuster. I can’t begin to tell you how sad I am." Posted by Nancy Holder at her site in APRIL

Damn. Kept hearing rumors but I was hoping they weren't true. What will I read now?! Buffy books are the only books I can read and enjoy. I'll pray someone else will pick up the license. It's a shame so many Buffy related things are ending, especially with how well Season 8 is doing. You'd think it would make the demand for more Buffy merchandise go up.

Well I am sure another publisher will pick it up.
There's definitely a market for them.

Bummer. S&S clearly pay no attention to the media. Buffy is getting so much press these days. The time is ripe for all of the Buffy licenses to make a big comeback.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think with the way the Buffy comics are doing and the fact Joss hasn't done anything big that involved a camera in a while (outside of working on Goners) I wouldn't be surprised if someone approached Joss about another spinnoff show or film. I'm not getting overly hopeful here, but I think the Spike made for TV movie has a stronger chance of getting picked up now.
So, forget the books, many of which are hopelessly fanficesque, and do a little rain dance for somebody in the industry to think of us more than in passing.

Since you mentioned it, SaveAngel.org is finishing up a campaign to Joss about an ANGEL movie. Now they've also started a campaign for a Buffy/Angel movie. And let me tell you something, ok? The second campaign is going to be BIG! Like mucho mucho higante BIG!

I've only just read this thread and I can't believe there will be no more books. Like everyone has already said, the season 8 comics are doing well. You'd have thought they would strike while the iron is hot and get some more books published... but obviously not. I adored the buffy books when I was younger I still have them on my shelf. It's so sad that they won't be publishing anymore. Lets just hope the season 8 comics go from strength to strength Love ilovewillow <33

You didn't believe me, did you? From Whedonesque: Ripper is in effect! Ripper is the long-discussed story of Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) pre-Buffy. Who knows whether or not this plot will stay the same, but Head is on board as is the BBC, which is planning to film the story as one 90 minute TV movie. And I'm curious to see where this will lead us. *Meanwhile* I need to get BBC.

So there are no more buffy books... what about angel books? I love reading books set in s1 during doyles' tenure on the show.

Does anyone know what the last book will be called? because I found a new one on Amazon.com and it hasn't come out yet. I'll try to find the link and post it here.

That will sadly be the last book, unless another publisher picks it up (PLEASE!). And from an interview with the arther it's about Drusilla wanting a child so she sires a little girl or something like that.

Darn, I kinda got my hopes up because it's coming out next year. I do agree though we NEED another publisher to pick up the line.

Pesk wrote For an answer, and FYI to everyone else, the Simon&Schuster contract for AtS ran out towards the end of 2005, IIRC, around the time the IDW comics started up.
