Just wondering if Queen of the Slayers is as good as the reviewers say it is. I want some fan feedback. It seems interesting, especially when i heard something about Buffy meeting her future daughter and her being part Angel and part Spike or something like that? :ecstatic:

I'm going to disagree here (a lot) with those reviewers. I'm sure Nancy Holder is a very nice lady, but as far as the book goes:
Personally, I thought this was really pretty bad. In general, her original characters seemed fleshed-out better than the characters with seven years of history behind them; dialogue was off and action worse; the "let's bring every character with a fan following back for an appearance" trope is getting ridiculous by this point; and the ending felt rushed and lame at best (particularly the daughter thing, which is in the running for the title of "lamest thing I've seen so far" in any of the professionally-written stories - most of which feel like barely half a notch above fanfiction, anyway.) I did think that Faith and Kennedy were handled fairly well, better actually than any of the others.
Although, to give credit (and blame) where it's due, it's probably at least as much the publisher's fault for pushing the Buffyverse novels into their "young adult" line. None of the ones I've read have been very good, and a large part of that "not-very-good"-ness can be laid to the dumbing-down of the writing styles - which shouldn't be necessary, anyway. Anyone who's been watching the show surely should be able to read above this level, and it does a disservice to the material and the readers.

Can you tell me a little bit about Buffy's future daughter? did they have pics? No pics. And I believe the "daughter" wasn't really her future child, but a thing of magic created with the love between the three of them. Obviously, just my opinion. I have no clue.

I think future girl was less future and more potential. I think Buffy saw her that way because that was her hope, that one day she'd have a child with the man/vamp she loved. As it is, it's pretty ambiguous which vamp that is.
When I first read Queen of the Slayers I thought it was really good. Now that we have season 8, it's unnecessary, and a little corny by comparison. The ending with the "future" daughter was pretty exciting.
I think it had Angel's eyes and Spike's smile, which sounds adorable to me.

Wasn't the best book i read of the Buffy verse but it was still a good read. It was just the ending was a little rushed. I'm not a fan of coming back from the dead characters but in this book i didn't mind so much having appearances from Tara and Anya. I think you should still check it out and give it a read. Its still fun.

I dunno. I kind of liked it, kind of didn't. Honestly I can't remember much about it anymore since I read it when it first came out. That may also be a bad thing, not being able to remember it, must not have been as good as I'm thinking. I always love reading Buffy novels, I just try not to take them to heart, the same with QotS. Especially now that season 8 is out. I can't really place it, but can season 8 actually take place after QotS? I'm thinking no, but my memory sucks.
Personally it was an entertaining read, though as far as being a Buffy novel, not as much.

I thought it was awful to be honest. Just plain bad Agreed. I have it and have read it. It's disappointing. It's worth a read if your reading the buffy books, you'll enjoy it. But overall it won't leave you feeling 'wow'

Honestly.. i thought this was one of the worst buffy books ever written. In fact i think it inspired Joss to Write Season 8 to null and void it as the next chapter of Buffy. You can see that Nancy used alot of the elements in the Season 8 comic, but her version of events just weren't good; i.e Buffy and Dawn in Italy with the Imortal (The Chain explanatino better) The Hellmouth in Chicago being opened and a Rogue slayer (No future for you), and OZ brief return (Wolves at Gate). It had potential.. but just failed miserable IMO. And the absolute worst was the end... Buffy's 'daughter' created by the PTB as the essence of Buffy, Angel and Spike.. ugh!
ITs not cannon and i wouldnt reccomend reading it unless you have nothing else to do.. The alternative Dark Willow Trillogy was better...
For a GOOD read, try The Lost Slayer, or the Gatekeeper Trilogy.

It was offensively awful. The dialogue couldn't have been more off, the writing was self-indulgent and very condescending towards readers (the "come on, we GET it" kind of writing) and Holder has absolutely no sense of the 'verse she's writing in. If you avoid any Buffy book, let it be this one.

I didnt think it was that bad. I do agree that the ending was rushed. But I would still recommend it to any Buffy fan.

All of the chapters involving the "villians" backstory or even present were just beyond boring. I think I ended up skimming them at 90 miles an hour as they bored me to tears NO ONE CARES
And the whole Sir Nigel thing was also bad. Just a lazy rehash of Quentin Travers, and yet another stupid sterotyping of British folk. Also the timeline didn't sync up with Angel Season 5 AT ALL. In "Queen of the Slayers" there seemed to be about 10 minutes in between Andrews visit to LA in 'Damage' to the end of 'Not Fade Away' And the idea that there is this huge global apocalypse going on with cities literally falling into oceans, and no one at Team-Angel even notices?
Needless to say I gave my copy away to charity
