Forgot to say, this is available now in some places. I think my local comic store gets a lot of its graphic novels early, as they had this when I went in on Friday (2 May)

I guess others have probably read this, so I'm going to try and start a discussion here. Who liked it? Who hated it? Who didn't really care? And WHY? Guess I'll start the ball rolling... I was less than impressed. Let's start with the art. For the most part, it was horrific. I think my favorite was the "Mall Rats" one since it was so intentionally meant to look like a kid's scrawl. I detested Hector Gomez's pencils the most... it seemed that he was not at all interested in capturing likenesses of the characters, and his style's just horribly dated. The best in terms of the non-cartoony stuff's probably Cliff Richards, and even then, I'm not a huge fan of his work.
Moving on... the stories. I was really excited about "Bad Blood" from what I've been reading here, but it was only so-so for me. There were times when the writing just didn't make sense to me. There were some interesting premises, like the deformed Buffy clone and all, but it just didn't gel for me. Selke was hilarious; I didn't know if she was meant to be a prima donna ex-model vampire, an aging movie star on crack, or just twisted. I thought it started out strong, with that whole wanting to be beautiful again thing, paralleled to Joyce's desire to look "fresher", but that's where the story lost some of its coherence and dove-tailed into many subplots with no strong drive for the main plot. Given that it was a multibook arc, I expected a little more, I guess. I'm not saying it was bad, it just wasn't good to me.
"Cursed" was my least favorite, mainly because Angel/Angelus got used interchangeably, and Angel's friend's named Liam instead. It was too big a distraction to overlook, especially since it's written by Christopher Golden, who's one of the bigger names in terms of Buffyverse fiction.
As a short story goes, "Bad Dog" was pretty good, although I have to say that I thought that Ryan Sook's art fared better in the Spike and Dru story in the third omnibus.
"Hello Moon" made me think of the swim team... the creature was way too similar. Maybe the swim team started colonizing... but it sounded like they are an ancient race, and hell, the Slayer isn't mythic to the swim team, they nearly ate her! Storywise, it was okay. It got to the moral of the story without too many stalls, so I applaud that.
The rest were mostly filler, pretty forgettable stuff. I guess my major beef with the Omnibuses so far have been how inconsistent in quality they have been. There are some good stories in each, but they always seem like the exceptions.

Got my omnibus Vol. 4 from Amazon today. Can't wait to start reading it. I have read all of the old comics before, but it is nice to have them all together in volumes like this, especially when it is a much cheaper option than buying all of the comics individually. This shall make a great edition next to volumes 1-3 om my bookshelf. Can't wait for the other 3 remaining volumes. There is supposed to be 7 total, right? Also, gotta say the covers have been amazing! Though, I think the cover to Vol. 3 has been my fave so far.

Just going back over the cover art for the omnibus series... This is my least favourite cover. I feel every other cover so far captures the characters and likeness fantastically, but this one leaves much to be desired.

The Bad Blood storyline didn't do it for me. It felt way too unorganized and it introduced ideas and plotlines that couldn't even remotely happen on the show. Buffy clones?? I know this isn't meant to be canon but I still would preffer some level of believability.
Regarding Angel's alternate origin story, I'm giving the writers the benifit of the doubt, and assuming it was written before his actuall origin story appeared on TV. Even so, did the writers seriously think that territory wasn't going to be explored on the show? It's like they painted themselves into a corner...
