I'm just reading Fray for the first time ( I don't know what took me so long) and its pretty awesome.
It talks about a slayer who hundreds of years before banished all demons and magic from Earth. Is that supposed to be Buffy? Perhaps that will tie in to the current Season Eight? I could be terribly mistaken. Who knows. Thoughts? Comments?

Yeah that would be great if they could work in some more fray references into season 8. There is also talk that ther could be more fray stories to come...its a great comic for sure.

FYI, the first online Buffy group I ever participated in Kitten PlanC were all big Melaka Fray fans. A point that astounds me is that so few BtVS fans even know about Fray. When I read the series as a tpbk compilation I thought it was great, and that was the first time I'd read a comic book in about 33 yrs. In 2004 at WizardWorld Chicago I talked to one of the Dark Horse guys at their booth, ATT he told me they're very excited about making more Fray comics. Addtionally, ATT the same fellow told me they would only do more BtVS comics if Joss was 'in charge of all story aspects' and if the comics were canon to what happens after Chosen.

That is really cool! Fray was really good. I agree. I figured all Buffy fans would have read it by now, I'm just a dawdler. I think that the new Season 8 comic will probably help more Buffy fans discover Fray who maybe never read comics before, hopefully.
I think it would make an awesome movie! I imagined it as one while I read it. I think they'd do best to market as not having to do with Buffy so non-watchers of the show wouldn't be put off. There seems to be a market for futuristic (or historical-300) type movies these days.

I would love more Fray. I remember when watching season seven originally....when they started talking about a weapon....I thought, "it would be awesome if it was fray's axe"....and then BAM it was. That was so great. I hope they would get Karl Moline to draw again. I loved his style. he also drew for a great comic called Route 666 by the now defunct crossgen.

I get told I have a very similiar look.

I always thought that Fray lent itself to a animated movie! The effects (especially at the end) would be so hard to pull of in live action. I think something along the lines of the CLone Wars cartoon or Superman:Doomsday would be awesome. I am not saying that those styles of animation, ratehr that jsut becuase it is a cartoon does not mitigate it to the family section of the video store!

Ok, big confession: I just read Fray today. And can I say WOW. I love the storytelling (who wouldn't? Joss--hello...) but I caught myself thinking that I like Karl Moline way better than Georges Jeanty. Although, perhaps Karl had more time and less deadlines to finish his comics?
What do you guys think? Would Karl's product be less quality if he were to step in Georges' shoes?

It would without a doubt be worse quality. When the single issues for Fray were coming out there SO MANY mega-delays. I think there was about a year gap between issue 7 and 8.

Yep, the release schedule for Fray looked like this- #1- June 2001 #2- July 2001 #3- August 2001 #4- October 2001 #5- November 2001 #6- March 2002 #7- April 2003 #8- July 2003 I followed it the whole way, believe me it was a looooooooooong wait to see what would happen after #6 It was worth it though in the end. And yes, I say Karl Moline kicks serious ass. No offence to Jeanty, but Moline's art is 10 times better. Look at some of the panels in #6, beautiful. I'd love to see Karl Moline do some Season 8, him doing the final arc would be awesome

I bought the Fray TPB last summer after Buffy Season 8 started, and I absolutely loved it. Great dialogue, plot, everything. I just wish it was longer.

Well, I'm in for some Fray discussion, if anyone will join me.
Reading through the TPB, I keep stopping at those two gross demons (the fat one and the spider-looking one). I can't help but think Twilight Connection? It's probably too early to tell, and hopefully some will be *alluded* to in the next arc.

Okay now I have just finished reading Fray for the first time and my firts thoughts were "WOW" I bought the TPB so was able to read it one after the other. It was fantastic Mel is a brilliant character and Joss has done very well making you care for her story. Really like the whole Fray/Harth relationship with the slayer. How he has the slayer visions/dreams and she has the dreams. Also Erin crushing the lurk with the car and then saying "That was for my brother dic*head" Absolutley brilliant. Oh and poor Loo. Whilst reading it I was wondering how the lurks got into the house I just assumed Loo done it buy accident of the lurks didn't need an invite for some reason but then at the end you get hit with it that it was Urkgorn (can't remember how it's spelt). Excellant twist. Anyway I really hope Joss gets the chance to do more Fray and reading this has made me even more excited about Issues 16-20-Time of Your Life. Makes me wish it was on TV so we could see what Mel would really look like. There was apparently talk about making Fray on TV or a movie but there was a problem with a budget, floating cars every episode would probably cost alot either that or Joss didn't feel it was right. I honestly can't remember where I read it but it sounded cool. Anyway I've rambled on long enough..... Oh and what was with Harth kissing Mel at the end, and then obviously then running away. Thats her brother....well sort of. Hes a vamp/lurk now but still. Oh and the vamp that killed Harth is soooo not dead. Never assume Mel come one, they never even checked to see if he was dead or not they just assumed. Oh and why did they keep saying "Jesu" through out the book that was my one and only thing I was'nt too keen on but apart from that fantastic!!

I finished the TPB this weekend, and I agree with those that say Fray was an exellent story.
I had heard of Fray before, but never checked it out due to the fact that I wasn't intrested in BTVS comics at the time.In fact, the only reason I started season 8 was due to continuity of the show. The reason I bought Fray was because of issue 16.

I was in the exact same position as you. I only read season 8 because it was the continuation and only bought the Fray TPB because of 'Time Of Your Life' and I'm SO glad I bought it. It's such an amazing story and I really got emotionally attached to her character, which will be great in 'Time Of Your Life'. I felt for Fray when she found Loo dead and couldn't believe it when Urkonn was revealed as the killer at the end! I had NO idea and I didn't even think that the lurks couldn't get in to Fray's place. I hope we see some of the other characters like Erin, Harth and Gunther in 'Time Of Your Life' and I also am doubtful whether Icarus is really dead. Anyway, absolutely fantastic read (stating the obvious because...hello, it's Joss). SO glad that I bought it. I'd recommend it to any Buffy fan.
