Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus Volume 1
Writer: Joss Whedon, Fabian Nicieza, Christopher Golden, Dan Brereton, Scott Lobdell, Paul Lee Artist: Paul Lee, Eric Powell, Joe Bennett, Cliff Richards, Hector Gomez, Will Conrad Genre: Horror, Action/AdventureThe definitive comics collection of all things Buffy starts here. This first massive volume begins at the beginning-The Origin, a faithful adaptation of creator Joss Whedon's original screenplay for the film that started it all. The newly chosen Slayer's road to Sunnydale continues in Viva Las Buffy and Slayer, Interrupted. Next, Sunnydale, the Scoobies, and an English librarian lead the way into Season One continuity. Plus, The Goon creator Eric Powell provides pencils to "All's Fair," featuring Spike and Drusilla at the 1933 World's Fair.
The smash TV hit Buffy the Vampire Slayer led to nearly a decade of comics at Dark Horse-including multiple specials, one-shots, and guest miniseries. This omnibus series is the ultimate compilation of the Buffy comics Dark Horse has published, and runs along the TV series' timeline. A fitting companion to Whedon's comics-based relaunch of the show.Anybody get the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus Volume 1. I got it on Friday and loved it, was the first time I've read these. Thought the Spike and Dru story was a bit lame tho' Thought the Dawn story about Hoopy the Bear was hilarious, very well characterised little annoying Dawn! If you got it, what do you think?

I got it yesterday. I hadn't read any of them except for The Origin, which I still hate. I really like the way the whole thing is set up. I also found the Spike and Dru story kinda lame, Dru seemed WAY out of character. I loved Viva Las Buffy and Slayer Interrupted. Can't wait for the next volume!

Yeah, like you I really enjoyed viva las buffy, a great story and loved the way angel was a major character in that story, but had never met buffy yet by then. enjoyed origin tho, first time I'd read it and liked how they are arranging all these stories chronologically

I'll be getting mine delivered in the next few days. I don't have the comics separately so I thought it would be a good investment. I'm looking forward to getting Omnibus vol.2.

I've read Viva Las Buffy separately but it is phenomenal. I didn't like the Spike/Dru at the World's Fair that much. Its really hard for me to read the words that Drusilla says and hear them in my head as the character in the show said them. I'm not sure that made sense.
I still have to read the rest of the stories but the omnibus idea is great.

I just bought this and WOW! I loved it. The Spike and Dru story was not that great but I LOVED The Orgin. I was first a fan of the movie before the show... so.... but I love the comic.
The whole book was so neat. I've never really started reading the buffy comics untill Season 8. This whole book is awesome!

Twas a good idea to put the comics in a collection from when they where set. I think its also helps the fans who never got the the chance to read the comics when they first came out. but the spike and dru story was really crap.

but the spike and dru story was really crap. It was better than this other one I read, "Paint the Town Red," oh my gosh, was that ever awful! I thought "All's Fair" was miles better, but still not good. :vampirebite: I love the omnibus idea and how it turned out! It's very nice looking and it's great to have chronological collection. Volume 2 came out this week, according to TFAW so I should have that soon. Whoo!

I also have volume one I didn't like The Origin, first time I've read it, found it way too long. I really like Slayer Interrupted and Dawn's Hoopy Bear. Really looking forward to volume two and three I'm still contemplating on getting all season 8 issues separately or waiting till October/November for issues 1-5 in one book and then getting the other separately? So how does Buffy burn down the gym in The Origin exactly? Does she get everyone to safety or uses petrol or what? And is there a scene at the end where she goes off with Pike like the movie, or is there any mention of the two fo them going to Las Vegas?

If I remember correctly, after Buffy kills Lothos, she runs back into the gym where the dance is taking place, it's filled with vampires but most of the students have managed to escape through an underground passage that Pike found. Pike is fighting against one of Lothos' head minions (the one whose arms gets torn off in the movie) Buffy uses the cross and blowtorch method again to set him on fire and she throws him at a group of vampires which set them on fire. Then Buffy and Pike lock the front door to the gym with a chain and the place is in flames. Cue firetrucks and paramedics. The final page is Buffy & Pike in Las Vegas looking for vampires.

Although, it's weird that the WHOLE gym got burnt down from Buffy burning one vamp and throwing him into a group of them. Unless it was a smalll gym.

There were decorations all over the place so they would have caught on fire I guess...
