I got this last week and I've nearly finished reading it all, I just have the Oz story left.
But what the frak was going on in "The Heart of a Slayer"? Why the hell did Buffy have this massive magnum handgun? wtf?!

Why the hell did Buffy have this massive magnum handgun? wtf?! LMAO! That was TERRIBLE! My god, that entire two-issue arc just made me cringe. The writing was awful, isn't there a part where Buffy says she's a lesbian so a guy will stop hitting on her? I think the gun is the weapon Hellboy uses, and Hellboy is a Dark Horse license so....what were they thinking?

Wow, anyone care to re-cap "Heart of a Slayer"? I'm very curious after the seriously negative WTF reactions.

Wow, anyone care to re-cap "Heart of a Slayer"? I'm very curious after the seriously negative WTF reactions. The story actually isn't bad. If I remember correctly, it's about a demon who keeps following a Slayer through time trying to steal her heart or something. What made it so terrible was the writing. Every character didn't act right, Buffy was MEGA bitch. And also how the weapon Buffy uses the entire time is a gun. Like a MASSIVE gun.

And Buffy *never* used guns. And where did she even get it from? Just stupid

I got Volume 5 awhile ago and I really enjoyed it. So far Volumes 4 & 5 are my favorites with 1 coming in third.
I didn't really mind "Heart of a Slayer". The story wasn't the best of the bunch, but it was still pretty good. And I didn't really mind Buffy's weapon...yes it was a gun but it shot stakes not bullets. That would have been pretty lame on the show, but it's not a deal breaker in the comics.

Got volume 5 a few days ago and I really liked it. Much better than the crappier comics set in season 3. I'm really enjoying the old run of the comics.
One thing that confused me though... what was with that blue demon "Terry" who was inexplicidly hanging out with the scoobies? Was that his first appearence? His last? What was Dark Horse trying to do with him? Were they promoting a new character or something? His presence wierded me out a little, but overall it was an awesome story.

He was pretty weird and just didn't fit at all. I think he is a character created by Christopher Golden because Buffy and Giles meet Terry in the Buffy book Immortal, which is co-written by Golden.

And Golden also shoehorned in the Lucy Hanover charatcer in as well (a previous Slayer, mentioned in opening onscreen captions for the original airing of Welcome to the Hellmouth) who features in a few of his Buffy books too

Wow, that's really confusing for people who havn't read his books. I find the older comics bearable, but the novels... not so much.

nothing has topped vol. 1 for me yet, although the beginning of vol. 2 was very good
