Probably in my top 5 favorite list of Buffy/Angel books.. Very good read. It's an interesting story with lots of twists and turns and all the characters are extremely well written. Buffy and Faith's chemistry was great and many old characters and villians returned. It doesn't really fall into continuity between Seasons 7 and 8, but it's good to pass time, I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it.

Wow, funny that you'd mention it--I just finished it 2 days ago, and had been planning to start a thread about it.
The main reason I picked it up was that it's set in Rhode Island, and I've lived almost my whole life in RI so it was cool to have the Buffyverse come to town, and mention places I've actually been (the State House, TF Green Airport) and can picture in my head.
As far as the book itself, I really enjoyed it. It had some things I didn't like, such as the way Kennedy was written out of the story (not that it was done, but how it was done), and how long it took for things to really begin happening--I mean, when the book is only 270 pages, and the action doesn't really get going until page 190 or so, that's not so good. But overall, yeah, it was a good read.
I'd recommend it, but the $10 cover price is a little high, considering how short it is, and that it feels like it's printed on recycled paper, not brand-new, high-quality stuff. If you can get a deal on it, or find it at your local library, those are probably your best options...

Ok, I have one question: Does Tara stay throughout the whole book, and does she stay in the end?

Yeah, the Kennedy thing was just bad! Yes, a lot of fans hate her so it'd make sense not have her in much of the book, but what happened made less sense than just giving her a main part in the story or just not including her at all. I wasn't a huge fan of Queen of the Slayers, but I liked that Nancy Holder made Kennedy a more likable character. OH! And the fact that there was NO Dawn made me mad too. Those were probably the two downfalls of the book. Ok, I have one question: Does Tara stay throughout the whole book, and does she stay in the end? Don't want to give anything away, but Tara is a main part of the book. She's given the same amount of story as every other character, maybe even more. If you love Willow and Tara, you will love this... most likely.

CG: The publisher was thrilled with the idea. Fox, from what I can tell, was also thrilled. The only note I received from them on the subject was simple and to the point--the genie must be put back in the bottle at the end. (Don't take that literally. There's no genie. It's a figure of speech.) As for other efforts along these lines, that's the first I've heard of it.
Does Tara have to leave at the end?!

Yeah, she does. They always have to do that with the novels. But her time in the book is really great, and she had to leave.

I read this around the time of Chicago Printer's Row Book Fair, and if you know my fannish preferences (Willow fan, Tara fan, HUGE W/T shipper) one might imagine I'd be a big fan of this book and it had been recommended to me by a few. A parenthetical note to my reading this book, I wanted to read since I gotten the fan recs, so I looked for a used copy or a remainder and no luck. Then I went to local library's fiction librarian and she was like 'OH! We'll order that.' and then that was like the begining of April, and library did not get it till like begining of May and the begining of May I was heading out to visit my Dad in California for a few weeks. So it was not till the first of June I was able to read it.
AND my expectations were realized almost fully; BTW, I so GET the Chris Golden has to put all the all the toys back the way he found them before he started playing with them and it doesn't bother me (maybe just a little). A few touches I liked: the witches reaction to Tara/cat and Tara/cat's response, "I'm a cat, too", the ending scene which I copied and keep in a bag I take almost every where.

I thought that this was a very mediocre read.
I bought it so that I wouldn't be bored on the train, and I guess it gave me something to do.
It was okay for a tie-in novel I suppose but at the end of the day it's pretty much fanfiction. I didn't like how it destroyed Kennedy's character and it would have been nice to go more in depth with the various monsters and demons and such. It was okay I guess.

I think one of the best qualities in this book is that Chris Golden GETS Tara's character. Sometimes I think some of the writers on the BTVS didn't really know what to do with Tara during late season four and all of five, but she's definitely an important figure in this book. I'm really not surprised though seeing as how Chris and Amber Benson had already worked together on other Willow&Tara projects before.

Because I've never had any before to read and none of the libraries I got to stock them. And my family is fairly poor and lives in a rural area so I couldn't have any until I was on on my own working for money.
what does "uni is a choir not an excuse. haha" I've never encountered that expression before! Lol
