What do you think is the most touching moment in Buffy history, as well as in Angel history?
This might be a hard choice, so feel free to discuss more than just one!
For me, it would be Dawn's scene in The Body. It's just so sad...and really resonates with me personally. My own father passed away due to a brain aneurysm when I was very young. I can relate to Dawn in her pain, as well as in her wondering where Joyce had gone. It's just so moving. The entire cast did such a great job. One of the best hours of television ever.

I agree with you. My Dad is currently going through Lung Cancer, so i have some idea what you mean about it Phil. The Body has some of the most touching scenes in history The way Dawn breaks down, the way Buffy finds her, and you can actually here the way she reverts to childhood (mom, mom....mommy) so touching. Also, "Forever" when Buffy finally breaks down and the sisters cry into each others arm, another touching scene. The Gift, also is very touching. When i first watched it, it had an effect on me, but not much. But growing up, watching the same episode, it touches me so much more, because i know, if i was in that situation, i would do the same for a member of my family, maybe not in that much style or grace, but i would do the same. The look on her face when she puts it all together and realises that the love of her sister tops everything else- such beautiful writing, directing, acting...everything. Passions has a very strong emotional tie too, the way little Willow breaks down, and is comforted by Joyce. Yet Buffy is left to deal on her own, she doesnt break down, she takes it in and deal with it as rationally as possible, something i know all to well about. Also Becoming Part 2. When she kills Angel. Again, that is growing on me more as i get older. Sacrificing her true love, knowing that it will destroy her, yet she does it. The whole scene is beautiful. Getting ready to destroy Angelus, then stopping as her love is restored to his body. The way he wipes away his tear, the first thing is does is tends to her wounded arm. Emphasising that love can hurt, such beautiful scene. Then the last tender kiss, before telling him to close his eyes, trying to make it as painless as possible Beautiful. Joss is a GOD Ok, so that didnt really narrow it down, but meh, what can you do Wayne

I would say Buffy killing Angel. Xander and Willow at the end of "Grave." Anya's speech in "The Body."

Buffy's last kiss with Angel in 'Becoming part 2'
Giles and Buffy's reunion in 'Flooded'
Willow breaking down at the end of 'Grave'
I'm sure there are dozens more that have gotten to me but those are the first ones that popped into my head.

Easily the whole last 5 minutes of Becoming pt.2 With Buffy saying goodbye and killing Angel, her mother finding the note, the Slayerettes recovering sans Buffy, Buffy watching them and riding the bus out of town... Oh, and of course the Sarah McLachlan song "Full of Grace"

Oh god....
-A Hole in the World. I find that episode SO hard to watch -Anya dieing -Everything about The Body, but Buffy trying to wake Joyce up gets me the most -Wesley and Lilah's final scene in Home -Giles walking up the stairs in Passion -Buffy in The Gift, "I just wish my mom was here." -Spike's speech to Buffy in Touched -Willow visiting Tara's grave in Help -Xander leaving Anya in Hell's Bells -Faith crying and begging Angel to kill her in Five by Five -Cordy's final scene -Kate getting fired then attempting suicide
Ok, I'm done. I could go on and on. No shows have effected me emotionally as much as Buffy and Angel have.

Buffy finding her mother's body.
Fred's death.
Of course, there are many more, but those are perhaps my number one picks.
Buffy and Willow hanging out with Xander in the hospital after he lost his eye was also a good one.

Wanna add Oz and Willow in his van scenes to that list. The one in Innocence and the one in New Moon Rising.

I think Anya's speach in The Body is one of the most honest and heart breaking things I have ever seen on telivision. There are a gazillion more but that one stands out in my mind.

There are only a few moments that have really touched me or made me cry.
They include: Fred's last moments. "Why can't I stay...?" Buffy's sacrifice in "The Gift," especially seeing Willow cry in the end. (everything about that last scene is perfect, the speech, the music!) When Caleb put is thumb through Xander eye Various parts in "The Body"

The Body episode as a whole. I can relate to it since my mother died of a brain tumor when I was very young. I never got to know her, but I can relate to the loss.

The whole episode of "The Body" was really emotional for me. I still cry. Yes there are many many emotional moments but that whole episode touched me. Every character had interaction with each other that reached a whole new level for them. Tara and Buffy sitting together talking was both awkward and yet broke down some kind of barrier that had been between them, really opening Buffy's eyes to Tara being a friend and not just Willows girl friend. Anya's speech always makes me cry. Before that we never really see her as human, but in that on bit she opens up and lets them know how much she wants to be, but just can't because she isn't understanding how. She doesn't understand loosing someone and those emotions are what make us human.
Anyway I'm rambling again. My point, that episode was the most touching. I really think they shouldn't have thrown that vampire in at the end of it.

I agree with all the ones that have been listed so far. There are so many touching moments in the series that it is hard to choose. The one that jumps out in my mind is the scene between Angel and Buffy on Christmas morning in "amends" were B is trying to talk A out of suicide. As soon as the dreamy snow music starts, I get all choked up. Another one is the scene from "family" where Buffy stands up for Tara declaring her part of their family. Also, from "Prophecy Girl" where Buffy explains that she is only 16 years old and doesn't want to die. Heck, there are so many touching moments that I'm sure I will think of more as the day goes on.

wow.... so all these were very touching. Every season there are just those gems that really stand out and grab you. How I love Joss....makes me want to go watch all these.. amends....great ep. anya in the body, willow/xander in grave, tara getting shot, scenes with oz and willow in van, fred's death, spike crying in the gift (at end), when tara leaves the summer's house-moves out-break up, anya and d'hoffryn at the end of hell's bells....her expression at the very end kills me becoming pt. 2...as said, the whole last 5 minutes... spike in touched, and then them talking about it in the kitchen. I am sure there are more.....but too much sadness already.

--The episode of the Body. I mean it was just heart wrenchingly beautiful. You couldn't hate that episode. If you did then you need help... really you need help.
-- Willow breaking down in Xanders arms in the end of Grave, with the music in the back ground then the clips of Buffy and Dawn, Anya and Giles then back to Willow and Xander. Great.
-- The Weight of the World, i mean when i re-watched that episode i was just, it was just so sad. Buffy was completely heart broken lost with out Dawn.
-- The Gift. Its all about that darn Speech.
-- Passions is one of my all time fav touching moments in Buffy when Willow finds out about Jenny she fells to the wall and crys ouch touchingly sad.
-- Xanders speech to Dawn in Potential. I mean come on that was one of Xanders best moments.

Forget Dawn's scene in the Body. Its EVERY scene in The Body. And then that end part of the ep where Dawn tries to bring Joyce back.
But there are so many other moments like this. Buffy killing Angel. Etc.
My favorite is "Family" with buffy saying "We're her family" That gets me everytime.

Having just watched "The Body" I'd have to vote for that entire episode with Anya's speech at the top.

One scene not previously mentioned is Anya's scene in Selfless where she's singing "I will be Mrs" and they abruptly cut back to the shot of her stabbed through the chest... Gets me everytime.
Anybody got a tissue??
