definitely Fred! Her character had really grown on me. It was so hard to watch her go through that but I love her story!
Also, Joyce's death. I can remember at the end of "I was made to love you," they showed the teaser from "The Body" and I was shocked. That week felt so long before "The Body" aired!
By season 6 I had discovered spoilers which really cheapened Tara's death for me. I wish I never read about it on-line before the actual episode. I never read spoilers again!

Most shocking death? Probably Connor. Not because it was shocking that Angel would save his own son's future but more in the sense that even though Sahjahn wrote a false prophecy, the prophecy still occurred. The Father will kill the son. It just took a while.
Saddest however had to be Fred's. Still makes me blubber like a baby, although the body does that to me as well.

Most shocking for me was Anya, Spike, Wesley and Fred cause I didn't expect them. I think the saddest Buffy death is Buffy's and the saddest Angel death is a tie between Wesley and Fred.

The saddest death for me has to be Joyce, because we see such a full exploration of all of the different characters' reactions. I personally can't watch "The Body" without crying, and I don't cry often when watching television or film.

Yep, Joyce. That ep kills me everytime. Also Jenny and how Giles found her. So awful

Most shocking death for me was Joyce. The reveal of her on the sofa is a ball buster.
Saddest for me would either be Jenny Calendar or Fred. Jenny's was a real sobering moment on Buffy, seeing Willow and Buffy break down into kids on the phone was painful and I felt so bad for Giles. Fred's death was just prolonged and agonising; and seeing the whole group desperate to save her was touching. She was the emotional core.

I still get teary at THE GIFT and even reading THE GIFT Manga. That's so sad that I'm such a cryer. But I find Joyce's death to be saddest, followed by Tara.

I still get teary at THE GIFT and even reading THE GIFT Manga. That's so sad that I'm such a cryer. That's not too bad. Imagine minding your own business until the score from 'The Gift' pops into your random shuffle causing your WHOLE WORLD to crumble down. I've never wanted to swan dive off my bed so much in my entire life lol!

And then the other day I FREAKED when Annie and High School Musical and Mrs. Poppins was added to the mix! I was so mad! It's been like 8 years since I've even had the chance to watch Mrs. Poppins.

The most shocking/sad death for me was Tara in Buffy and Fred in Angel I concur. It doesn't get more shocking and/or sad than those. Some of the other deaths come close, but they don't quite equal.

I've never wanted to swan dive off my bed so much in my entire life lol! One time in school I was suprisingly not paying attention, and I was thinking about Buffy's, "I just wish my mom was here" and I started tearing up and had to put my head down. Look what Joss has done to us! Saddest on Buffy would be Joyce. Buffy trying to wake her up kills me. The most shocking was Anya. I didn't even know what happened at first. Saddest on Angel would Fred. The most shocking was Lilah, but who killed her was even more shocking.

Can't say I was shocked by any of the deaths since I was a late-bloomer to the series and was pretty much told by my sister which characters died when. The first ep I ever saw of Buffy was the one where Tara died so that pretty much killed that shock for me.
As for the saddest death, I'd say Spike's.

Tara, Fred, Joyce. All horrible and sad and such great episodes. I think willow going dark after tara's death adds to it. her hurt, her pain. so much pain. you feel not only for the fact that tara is gone, but for the fact that beloved willow is so hurt. fred- complete shock. Though I heart illyria, i cry every time i watch the episode. and the body....joyce. can't even start with that. amazing episode and an amazing twist. even though you know she is sick....it still comes as such a shock!

The saddest one to me was when Buffy sacrificed herself for Dawn in The Gift. However, that episode The Body is so realistic I feel uncomfortable when I watch it, even though it is one of the top 10 episodes of the series. I saw it recently and literally felt like I had to just "get through it" to get to the next episode because it was uber depressing.
