I think the amount of time for a vampire to rise depends on the amount of blood their sire drinks. I think it was made clear in Helpless, when Kralik turned one of the Watcher Council people. Kralik: Ah, you're up. I was afraid I drained you too much. I do that sometimes. That was in reference to whether he had fully drained the victim. Darla (in Angel) once described the procedure, you had to drink until you felt the heart slow down, and then you do the blood swap. In this case, Kralik was saying that he wasn't sure if he had exceeded that point, i.e. drank until the heart stopped, at which point siring is impossible. Aha! Thanks for explaining, that makes more sense. I took it as the more blood the vamp drinks before you drink theirs, the longer it took for you to wake up.

I just watched Amends the other night, and Jenny does touch his head. I also believe that Angel puts his head on her lap as he's laying down in his mansion. Another thing I noticed in Amends is that the Bringers a) Chant, so they aren't mute, and b) Have much different eye carvings. The second one is probably just a variety thing, but something I noticed. Thanks for noticing this =) lol..thought I was wrong earlier !

Okay, but that's still a pretty minor interaction between the two of them, and complaining about it falls in the category of 'nit-picking', in my book. It's not as if he or Buffy had an actual physical fight with the FE, and then in S7 they try to claim it's not corporeal. I mentioned the Dawn scenes in CwDP as something that's a much bigger offender in the corporeal/not-corporeal deal, and there's also a much bigger inconsisteny in "Amends" compared to S7 than just the FE touching Angel. In "Amends", if I followed it right, the FE wanted Angel to sleep with Buffy, lose his soul again, and kill her. He decided to thwart this plan by killing himself. But when he comes back in "Chosen", he says, "It's the First, right? The First Evil? The power that tried to convince me to kill myself?"

In "The Harvest", the Master says "My soul is your soul", when he turns Luke into the Vessel.
EDIT: I got it wrong when I first wrote it, corrected

Oh, Angel, you're so confusing when it comes to the First. I wonder if Joss had a plan for the FE later in the series, not even specifically S7, or if it popped into his head after 'Amends'. Just with all the inconsistencies that everyone noticed.

Regarding the chanting, in "Storyteller", weren't there a bunch of students who were trying to open the Seal of Danzalthar (damned if I got the spelling right there) by chanting? These kids later became Bringers, didn't they? Could be that the mute bit comes slightly later, after mutilating other body parts, such as the eyes. Still, good catch.

One thing that REALLY bugs me, is how when Angel got his soul, he became a totally different person; when Angel lost his soul, he become a totally different person. When Spike got his soul, he still acted like Spike.

Well, Spike was kinda earning redemption points before he got his soul back; I guess the chip acted a pseudo-soul in that respect. He was still evil, but he did good (because the only things he could hit were other demons). Angelus on the other hand, had no such issues. It was death and destruction all the way for him. Also, unlike Angelus, Spike was actually able to love, even before his soul was restored. He loved Dru, and later Buffy. Angel has admitted that he never really loved Darla (again, on Angel).

Also good point... If Doomed is accurate... where the hell did the Seal of Danzalthar come from?
