Xander and Anya breaking up. Xander and Anya were very symbolic of what Willow and Tara, Buffy and Spike/Angel could be and wanted to be. The symbolism was SHATTERED first when Xander left Anya and then a light of hope and then oh no it was taken away when Anya screwed Spike. and Anya's death. I feel like her death was unnecessary and sort of disrespectful to her character. Like almost every other death in the Buffyverse had meaning: Joyce: I think her death is what made Buffy such a good teacher/mother figure for the potentials and Dawn in season 7. Tara: Bringing out Dark Willow, almost ending the world. Spike: Saving the world. her death was very fitting to her character. But it was a bit disrespectful to the character who was wildly popular for four years and her death scene lasted for less that one second. Also, she didn't have a greiving period. When Andrew told Xander, there were no tears and he just kind of accepted it. That always bothered me. I do understand what you're saying, but that's what happens in big battles. Yes, it's unfair and has no point to it, but it happens, and did happen with Anya. And trust me, I'm more than sure that Xander did grieve for her after. But there was something more epic and bigger happening at the time that he couldn't express his emotions. A bit like when Tara died and Willow went evil. There wasn't any time, at that point, for grief from Buffy, Xander and eventually Dawn. But again, after the bigger event is stopped, there is time for grief, which I'm sure they all had. And I've never been a shipper either barryshaft. I'm not saying that they didn't grieve. i'm just saying all other characters that have died have had a grieving period and we saw the characters greiving. Angel, Season 2. Joyce, Season 5, Buffy, Season 5-6. Tara, Season 6, and even spike, whose death was like a second after anya's got like a huge send-off. i get that it was b/c he saved the world. but with Spike, Buffy said she loved him. with anya, she was just cut in half and that was the end of it.

aww i like ange and cordy. what i did not like was: cordy's Rosie's Just Come Out hair cut cordy's dying cordy's over all love for gru for the longest fricken time. I love Cordy, but I didn't like the dynamic between Cordy and Angel. Angel feels much more natural with Buffy. I don't know who I would put Cordy with, but it wouldn't be Connor either beause that's kinda creepy. She helped take care of him when he was a baby. Gross.

I always thought (and still do) that at it's worst, Buffy was better than any other show on TV, so it would have never crossed my mind to not watch it. Buffy airing was an event in our house... Having said that, the things that most got to me were 1. Buffy sleeping with Spike, not because I didn't understand why, but because I just missed the Buffy we all knew.(the disclaimer here is that I am a Bangel fan 2.Tara's death 3. Dawn about giot on my last never duringher most whiney days 4. The potentials being such cry babies drove me crazy! As for Angel...the Cordy/Conner thing nearly made me turn it off...litterally. Fortunately, David is hot and I had to keep watching It got much better.

Haha. The whole sixth season made me want to stop watching. Hell, even most of the seventh sucked.

Yeah. And also aweful. So many moments that made me proud, but also so many moments that made me cringe.

I hought it did a really good job of mixing old and new Buffy style and making everything come full cirlcle Hmm, It also did a good job of rehashing an old, very cheesy enemy. I mean come on, Buffy fights EVIL, ITSELF? The worst villiain. The first few episodes were good, I enjoyed them. Then "The First" arc came and ruined it. Spike was in every episode, more than Xander. Kennedy was a pushy bitch, and an annoying one at that. Not to mention the other annoying little girls, and turning every one of them into slayers is the worst storyline in the history of the show IMO. Now we have Buffy in castles, with fairtytale kisses, fairies, a centaur sister, and a friend that can fly. Jeeze, to me it hardley feels like Buffy anymore.

I feelt the same way at first, about the castle and all the cool gadgets, flying Willow, lots of slayers and giant Dawn. All in all, Buffy moved to fast for me, so much new stuff in one season. Then I loved it. So many magical things. But yeah, they're not stuck in the library anymore. But isn't that the point of the show? The weird outsiders evolve as people? But I still don't like Willow flying...

Now we have Buffy in castles, with fairtytale kisses, fairies, a centaur sister, and a friend that can fly. Jeeze, to me it hardley feels like Buffy anymore. It's an interesting point. I think this evolution of the Buffyverse's dynamic is very unique and its best shown in the character development too. I think Joss asks himself "How do they grow? How does their world change? How do both evolve?" This is very different from other fantasy and comic 'verses where the setting of the story remains stagnant as does the story dynamic. Batman will always be based in Gotham and has a set group of allies and enemies; new characters occasionally appear but they do not alter the way Batman fights. With Buffy, the dynamic of fighting monsters that rise up on the Hellmouth started to radically change after Buffy was resurrected. Season 6 made the characters own flaws the Big Bad and not the Hellmouth, ending in Willow wanting to end the world to end all the 'poor bastards' suffering. The show goes through a further dynamic transformation when all the potentials arrive and then become slayers, ultimately leading to the destruction of the Hellmouth and Sunnydale. Maybe the impetus for such radical change is that Sunnydale was destroyed in Chosen. If Buffy and the gang could have defeated the First and closed the Hellmouth without destroying the town, maybe we'd have a comic set in Sunnydale as Buffy's base of operations and multiple slayers throughout the world. But I think that would have ruined the ending of the show - Buffy finally defeating the Hellmouth was a very empowering moment. I try to imagine BtVS happening any other way and I can't. The characters can't go back to high school. That time is over. So they keep growing and the Buffyverse keeps growing with them. I've started to really enjoy the potential given from this whole new world of possibilities. As long as the characters remain true to themselves, I'll follow them through whatever adventure may come. They are the reason I love the Buffyverse. So I won't stop watching/reading the Buffyverse unless I can't feel connected to the characters anymore.

But I think that would have ruined the ending of the show - Buffy finally defeating the Hellmouth was a very empowering moment. Agreed. Not to mention that if left to live the ho-hum life of an everyday hero, Buffy would have been working at the Double Meat Palace in the next town down with no way to grow as a Slayer. This way, she has a plausible reason to move on and grow in many ways and Joss has enough room to create a kcik-butt comic. Had it remained on TV, I realize not much of season 8 would carry over, but what kind of comic would the next town down scenario create?

I never felt like stopping Buffy, ever.
But I felt like stopping Angel all throughout season four.

I never wanted to stop watching Buffy. The only episode that bugs me badly is As You Were.
On Angel I got pissed off in season 4. I'll never agree on how the character of Cordelia was handled in that season. I never liked that storyline at all. But I kept on watching to see if it got better, and it did (season 5 is one of my favorite seasons).

Well I never watched the show when it was on air so I never really saw anything to make me stop watching it. The only things I really had a problem with was..
*Anya and Xander not getting married.
*Conner and Cordy having sex (YUCK)
*Dark Willow
