To those of you that watched "The Gift" the night it was shown...what was your reaction to it ON THE NIGHT IT WAS SHOWN?
You can also do your reactions to: "Becoming: Part 2" if you wish.

I watched it the night it aired. I'm pretty sure I was shocked and crying. Crying crying crying. I still can't watch that episode without crying.
I also watched Becoming Pt. 2 when it aired as well. This is another Buffy episode that makes my eyes bleed tears. For me the saddest part is when Buffy sees everyone the day after and watches them from afar, then leaves on the bus. That gets me every time. I remember I had to go on a school trip the next day (I was 13 and in 8th grade) and I was all like "how can I go? Buffy sent Angel to Hell! Wah!" Good times.

I saw it the night it aired. I thought it was a really awesome, powerful episode. But we knew buffy would be back. My friend actually jokingly predicted that next year we'd see buffy's arm burst through the ground coming from the grave and she happened to be right!

We watched it as usual, house dark and the TV totally in charge of our universe. LOL, we dared the phone to ring during Buffy Anyway, to answer your question, I had already checked online and knew Buffy would return, but it was still really hard to watch...I mean Buffy should never go down right? At least she had done it on her own terms. That was what I was thinking as it ended. If I had not known the show would be back, I would have undoubtedly entered a deep dark depression, only to be cured by a Joss-made Buffy full feature film

I watched it but I wasn't a fan at the time...it was literally the first episode I watched. My sister was a huge fan of the show and I watched the episode not knowing what the hell was going on or why some dude named Ben wore a dress. My sister bawled at the end, but I was confused since I had no idea what was going on. I started watching season 6 as it aired and I was hooked from there.

Oh wow, seeing Ben in a dress would have been quite confusing.

I thought it was a fantastic eppy. I sorta knew something like that or similar to that was going to happen. I didn't cry or anything though. Guess cause that's just not me. The only thing from the whole series that got to me was in "The Body" where Anya saids something along the line like "She's never going to have eggs or fruit punch again." My eyes teared up a bit, thats it...lol.

When The Gift first aired we didn't have the internet. So my 10th grade self was very sad and depressed to find that Buffy died. I thought the show was over until I read in TVGuide that it would be back on UPN. I remember my absolute amazement and bliss, when reading it! I also remember a Buffy-Renaissance styled painting in there too with a Ghost Buffy looking down on her dead body, with a hellish background. It was a really cool image that I wish I could see again!

I honestly can't remember what my reaction was to Becoming. I t was my favourite episode when I was younger and always wanted to watch I thought the sword fight between Buffy and Angel was epic! I never had them on video (lol at video and not dvd) but when I went over to my cousins I'd always watch that one. I do remember watching The Gift though. I was amazed, there was not one bad thing abouyt that episode. The whole season ahd been leading up to this and I was not disapointed. I didn't know that there was a seaosn 6 when I watched it so I was shocked when Buffy died. Although I like that ending. It sort of made the show (Buffy seaosns 1-5) about a girl who was out of her control Chosen fight and tried to live a normal life but in the end gave her own life to save the world she was born to protect. ...But then they brought the show back and I was happy again. I do actually like season six. It has a lot of good episodes (not great) but the one thing I will never forgive the show for is not lettign Xander and Anya be together. WHY?! It serverd no purpose keepoing them apart except Anya became sort of a Vengeance Demon...again. And if they wbnated to do that they could have found another way to do it rather than not letting them get married. Anyhoo then came season seven and it is my second or third I can nver make my mind up favourite season. Now we have seaosn 8! Woo. Wow this went on a lot longer than I intended what was the orignial question again? Oh yeah what did I think when I first watched the Gift......
