I was told to post my thoughts on each episode/season as I watch Buffy/Angel, since I'm new to the fandom. I just finished watching the Season Five premeire, Buffy Vs. Dracula. I thought the indroduction of Dawn was kind of creepy...being how she just appeared. I'll post more as I watch more.

Cool! I love to hear people's thoughts after they watch an episode for the first time. Can't wait to read more.

I still remember my reaction to seeing Dawn at the end of Buffy vs. Dracula....it involved running around the house telling my entire family about this mystery sister who had just appeared out of nowhere...they didn't care but I was soooo giddy and confused. Then I went back upstairs to watch the next episode! lol

I knew she was coming. I was so much into fanfics that I had read a bunch of spoilers to be able to read fanfics based on seasons I hadn't even watched.
I wish I had been able to stay away from the fanfics long enough to watch the entire series(both angel & Buffy) but fanfiction is so addictive.

I was confused when I watched Buffy S5 for the first time. I had only bought S1, 4, and 5, and I didn't know that Dawn didn't exist prior to S5. Then I watched more of S5 and then S2-3, and I finally got it.

Yeah, I've read a LOT of spoilers, so I already knew about Dawn, but I still don't know how she just appeared. Is that ever explained?
Anyway, I watched the next two Buffy episodes, and the first three Angel ones last night.
The Buffy ones were pretty good, but Dawn is annoying. I loved the first Angel episode, especially when he sang and visited Faith. (Faith <3)

I just thought....eh, what, who, when, what is going on?? Then I thought maybe she was just with her Dad Mr Summers for a lot of the time and was just never mentioned for some reason...then I came back around and realised that it was BTVS. There must be something up. Would never of guessed that Dawn was....... Just encase nobody has seen the whole of season 5 yet I'll leave it black for fun and so's I don't spoil anything.

Then I thought maybe she was just with her Dad Mr Summers for a lot of the time and was just never mentioned for some reason... That's what I thought at first. I assumed that Buffy just had a sister that wasn't mentioned because she wasn't relevant to the plotline. I would have followed your train of thought though if I had watched the seasons in chronological order. My mistake was skipping those two more years without any evidence of a Summers sister.

I didn't try and think of logical reason for it, I knew something had to be up. Especially as they made a point of pointing this scene in the episode: BUFFY: Thanks, Mom. Everything was yummy. (Put her napkin on the table) JOYCE: Hey, you up for dessert? We could, uh, take a drive, get some ice cream. BUFFY: (stands) You know, I, I would, but I kinda have to get out on patrol. (Begins gathering up dishes) JOYCE: Now? It's 8:30. BUFFY: Well, vamps don't really care what time it is. You know, dark equals dinner bell. (Begins carrying dishes to kitchen. Joyce stays seated) JOYCE: Right, of course. (Look around empty table) You know, I'm gonna have to get used to this place without you again. It gets so quiet.
Buffy comes back in.
BUFFY: You know, maybe we should make a regular date of this, when school starts. JOYCE: (nods) Mm. faithlehane it is explained why Dawn is there, eventually...i think in episode 4 maybe and yes she is annoying! but you do get used to her lol

Yeah, it was just explained. I feel bad for Dawn, kind of. She thinks she's Buffy's sister/Joyce's daughter, even though she's not.
The last episode I watched was "Family." I'm glad Tara's not a demon, but wouldn't have really cared if she was, anyway. I just felt like that plotline was already filled with Anya.

Rewatching it I'm always struck how young MT is. When you think of the Britney-clone she played in Six Feet Under or the bikini clad hottie in Eurotrip you sometimes forget that in season 5 she really was Joyce's little girl One of the rumoured plotlines for a Buffy season was that Buffy herself would be the villain, she'd be seduced by the darkside and allow herself to be sired and that's what seems to be happening in BvsD. However, she inverts it as ever, she's not going to play the traditional horror heroine

I watched The Body last night. Saddest. Buffy. Episode. Ever! Seriously, I was tearing up throughout the whole damn thing! That said, I loved the episode. I loved how there was no music in the background like there usually is. It just goes to show how amazing a writer/director Joss is. As for Angel viewing, the last episode I watched was Happy Anniversiary! which I did not like. I loved the Darla/Drusilla storyline, and hope we get more out of them, as well as Anne and Kate (Who hasn't been around much this season. The last time I saw her was The Shroud of Rahmon.)

The Body is wonderful yet heartbreaking although I actually prefer Forever for reason that will become obvious during the rewatch.
Happy Anniverasy is great, it feels like they're trying to see if Lorne works as a regular. Also terrific for the Wes as Agatha Christie routine.
Love Kate, too bad she changed her identity and become a lawyer in New York. In terms of plot it's essential because it marks Angel's first steps back to normality

I also like Dawn. We few.
I remember freaking out when I watched Buffy vs. Dracula because I thought I missed an episode and I just watched the 2nd episode of Season 5. I was pissed.

I despise Dawnie, she's a ruiner. That said, I do appreciate her role in the series.
As for Michelle Trachenberg being so young in S5, I KNOW!! Everytime I get into S5 again I'm amazed at how little and chubby-cheeked she is!

Dawn was really LESS whiney in Season 7 than she is in any other.
