I feel like Season 4 had MOMENTS of brilliance, but overall was a disaster. I just didn't buy or like Cordelia as evil and Connor was a god awful type of annoying.

I really like Season Four. I don't love what it did to Cordy, but overall it's an amazing season, with some of the best episodes.
People blame Connor for a portion of this Season's 'offness', but I would hate to think that.
I mean, this season had Weslah (Amazing.), the Faith/Angelus arc, Shiny Happy People, The Magic Bullet, Home, ect.
Sure, the season had a bit of a jumbled plot, but in the ending it all came together, IMO. And compared to BS8, this messy plot is golden.

Well it's really hard to compare a 22 episode television season to a 40 Issue Comic season that was the first season in the new medium. And idk, I've quite enjoyed Season 8 despite the jumbledness.

Season Four of Angel was sorta weird. Kinda like Season Four of Buffy. But they still were solid seasons. Season Four of Angel is probably my favorite season of Angel because of the smaller arcs in the larger, complex story that actually makes sense and ties everything together from the start of Angel's arrival in LA. Season Five of Angel pretty much starts fresh.

I actually would almost be more inclined to compare Season 4 of Angel to Season 6 of Buffy considering how much the polarize fans and the destruction that is done to some of the most beloved characters. Season 5 of Angel feels like a new show altogether.

Season 4 was the first full season of Angel that I saw from beginning to end.
The only thing that I didn't like was how Angelus was brought back to be a plot device to cause further trouble for Team Angel. He was just a cheap plot tool to cause conflict for the Wesley/Fred/Gunn storyline, and for Cordy, and Conner.
I love the Jasmine storyline, and thought that Jasmine was an unique villain.
