well, it would be hard not to have a big ego if you became the worlds richest kid at the age of 10.

I can't wait for this movie to be released. I'm just a total fangirl for the books and seeing the HP stories come to life in film is a great treat. Still sucks we had to wait so long for the sixth movie but hopefully the wait will be worth it.
P.S. Great poster JW. I was also bugged by the fact that the film makers never referenced Harry's green eyes. Green eyes just like his mother. Oh well.

yeah. and in PoA, they kept zooming in on his eyes just to throw it in crazy fans' faces. "Haha! Dan has blue eyes, and so does Harry!"

This movie should be pretty cool, but it's the seventh movie I can't wait for

Yeah but splitting it into 2 parts seems a little mad to me. It is slightly upsetting that we'll have to wait for part two...but I'm actually glad book 7 will be split up. That means there's a good chance that most of the book will be covered and that we'll get to see it all unfold. I'd rather have to wait for another movie then see them try to cram 759 pages into one 2 hour movie.

I agree, there's just no way to make a great Deathly Hollows movie with just one film. I am so happy we are getting 2 parts.

I agree, there's just no way to make a great Deathly Hollows movie with just one film. I am so happy we are getting 2 parts. I disagree. They actually churned out a very good adaptation of the fifth book, despite it's ridiculous size. Probably because Harry's emo moments are more easily conveyed in film than in print. Meaning that splitting the seventh book into two movies may be quite unnecessary. Most of the middle section of the seventh book is filler and quite easily compressed and condensed. It just kinda smells like a money-making gimmick. If WB wasn't concerned about making 100% true-to-the-source adaptations before, why start now? Unless they're just trying to hold on to one of their biggest franchises for as long as they can and milk it for what it's worth.

Order of the Phoenix had a lot more filler than Deathly Hollows though. I can't think of many scenes that can even be cut out of a Deathly Hollows movie, except for a few of the camping scenes. Everything else was pretty important. Order of the Phoenix really turned out well, it's the best movie in the series despite being the shortest AND the source material being the longest book. I don't think the same thing could happen with Deathly Hollows though.

I don't think the same thing could happen with Deathly Hollows though. I don't see Book 5 as having more filler than Book 7. What they did was pare the story right down the bare essentials, which is what they needed to do in order to make a coherent movie adaptation. Like EWR (totally acronym-ing that long name) said, the movies are different entities than the books. They're adaptations, and things will and must be cut out. Either that or compressed, condensed and composited. Which is what they have done before to various degrees of success. I will agree that Book 5 was adapted the best thus far, but that didn't stop "book fans" from bitching about various omissions. With that, I don't see why they can't do the same with Book 7 in a 2.5-hr movie, instead of making 2 movies.

I don't think it's really necessary to make two movies out of book 7. Like wenxina said, they're probably just doing it for the money. But then again, I'm sad that the books are finished, so I don't really care that they keep the movies going for as long as possible And I'm really exited for the sixth movie too =)

well, i for one am THRILLED they're splitting the seventh book. Not only will it help the fan hype last logner, but they'll be able to do a fairloy accurate version of the book. I mean, teh Battle of Hogwarts itself could fill up a single movie and would be incredible, so i'm glad they're taking the time to get some accuracy.

Anyone else who'll wait a couple of days until most people have already seen the movie, so that there's less chance of the movie being ruined by people eating candy with noisy wrapper while their kids talk loudly?

I always go to the movies on a weekday, and usually before 2:00 pm. Less people there (even with new big movies) and you don't pay for the more expensive ticket.

I mean, teh Battle of Hogwarts itself could fill up a single movie and would be incredible, so i'm glad they're taking the time to get some accuracy. And if that happens... people will be falling asleep and bored. The Battle at Helm's Deep in The Two Towers was something like 20+ minutes, but even in the extended cut, the actual battle itself was never fleshed out, with only a tiny addition of the Orcs running away into the forest. The reason being that if they had extended the cut, it would've messed up the pacing of the movie. Battles are things that need to be balanced out; too long and it kills the excitement factor and becomes repetitive. Slavish accuracy to the source material doesn't make something better, case in point being the first two HP movies. Different medium, different rules. But back to the two movie issue. Any guesses on where the cutoff point will be? I'm guessing right about the first battle between Harry and Voldemort, in the house. Seems as good a cliffhanger as any.
