I can't wait for this movie to come out. I was pissed when they pushed it back to this year, but the trailers look really good. I'm hoping it will be great, since the 5th one was a little bad (they chopped out heaps of the book) And the good thing about it being in July...I can take my mother to the movie for her birthday lol While they may have chopped out heaps of material in the transition from pages to screen, the essence of the book was kept intact, and rendered quite coherently on-screen. That's quite an achievement. It's actually quite interesting to see the creative calls made in translating the books to screen as a slavish rehash can no doubt at times be quite unwieldy. Having already read the books, I personally prefer to see how the books are distilled into the movies. I'm not saying that I agree with all the choices made, but it is an interpretation, and should be judged as such. Also, I could be wrong, but I'm really sure that I saw this trailer over a month ago. Or one very similar to it. And when I say very similar, I mean very similar.

I absolutely loved what they did with the fifth movie, in terms of what they cut and what was kept. Considering it was the shortest movie, adapted from the longest book in the series, AND was the best film yet in the series (imo), I thought it was quite the achievement as well.

Maybe. Won't it have to beat the Dark Knight?

Half-Blood Prince numbers won't even come close to The Dark Knight numbers. Don't get me wrong, Half-Blood Prince will perform very well and will undoubtably be one of the top grossing movies of 2009, but it won't come even close to making what The Dark Knight did (over $1 billion).

It should be good. I think it'll be good. That said, I have heard a rumour that there was a test screening or something like that and the reviews weren't great. However, I still have hope that it'll a good film. It just means we're closer to the seventh movie

I enjoyed the book, and the movies HAVE been getting better, so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Guess which film still kicks The Dark Knight tush in terms of blockbuster revenue? Titanic. Click here for the Top 100 American Films of all time. On both the adjusted and unadjusted lists (adjusted to factor in inflation), Titanic beats out The Dark Knight.

Yeah I highly doubt that Titanic will ever be beaten. I was around 10 when it first came out and I still remember all the craze for it.

Meh. I gave up on the movie adaptations after The Goblet of Fire. Before that, Prisoner of Azkaban was a major let down but I still had hope. But no. TGOF was horrible. They left out so much stuff. I understand that they need to limit what they put for time purposes, but still! Not to mention that the film felt rushed. Don't get me wrong, I probably will watch this when it comes out on DVD (not that I would buy it), but I won't super psyched about it.

AW! POA was the best IMO! The production design was just so beautiful and imaginative. I loved the hogwarts 'layout' much more then Columbus' rather bland interpretation. As for OOP I believe the film was second only to POA, I was also disappointed that the flashback was cut so dramatically, but the film came across as v.coherent and entertaining, which was quite a task from such a dense and complicated story. I dont quite understand all the negativity directed at David Yates I think he'll do a fine job of the final 3 films!

Well, it'll be good to see how it turns out, though the one thing I'm not looking forward to is the Ron/Hermion relationship taking effect. Ugh

It was for a while, but I believe one of the Pirate of the Caribbean movies and Spider-Man 3 are considered the most expensive now, as well as some other recent films.

I'm actually more amazed that Peter Jackson was able to make the amazing LotR trilogy without the budget these movies had. But then again... budget doesn't equal quality... Serenity was proof of that.
