Was anyone thinking about having a new swap, perhaps? I know we haven't had one since Christmas and I thought it'd be really fun if we did another one, so I could do it for the first time. Any thoughts?

Can you tell me a bit about the swaps? What do they involve?
Can I participate if I'm from international waters? I think I'd really like to be involved, I just want to know a bit more about it first.

Well from my experience...which was with a different forum a few yrs back so it may work differently with slayalive...you get paired up with a person and you both post a gift out to each other.
theres usually some sort of theme, halloween/valentines etc to help with gifty ideas. As a custom maker I just tend to make a custom and post that out.lol.
and yes secretscoob' I think youd be fine despite being in aus. im in britain and I was included so I think itd be fine.
Last time I was involved in one I got a load of scottys drawing which was AWESOME.
Id be up for another swap as long as I have a lot of preparation time as I really busy with uni at the moment.

I'm on the same page as you, Stakey, at least regarding the uni thing.
I hope we can do it soon, although I don't make anything creative, I'd at least be able to contribute something fun/interesting related to Buffy!

I'd totally be in!
I don't have any particular talents but I've been thinking about TRYING to make Buffy statues, like little cartoony ones. Maybe I could do something like that as a gift.
I'd had to be the crap-gift-giver if I got paired with an awesome customizer or talented artist like you stakey!

I would love to join in. Although im not sure what gift I would give. Does it have to be something I made myself?

Hey guys! I am the one that kinda keeps an eye on/organizes the swaps. There are usually two kinds: partners and circle swaps. In the partners, you get a partner and you exchange with each other. In a circle swap, you have member a, member a has member b, member b has member c and member c has you, etc. So no one really knows who their gift will be coming from.
Usually there is a theme...it can be all hand-made, or bought, depending on what you guys want to make it. Typically it goes with the season, so we could do one for summer, etc. Or we could just say the theme is handmade gifts! It's up to you....
The last two swaps (ornament and halloween) did not go so well, as many people backed out after receiving their gift, never sent theirs out, etc. I had to find 7 replacement gifts for the halloween one (including the 4 gifts I had to do myself). I will gladly organize one if there is an interest! But we all have to really commit! If we have more drop-outs, I will stop swaps all together! It's getting to be a hassle and it loses its fun when things like that happen.
So if you are still interested.....any ideas for a theme?

Ideas (these would work especially well for home made items):
Summer fun (maybe a custom of what the gang may have done on a summer break) Graduation (customs of graduation) Dreams (again, custom of one of the dreams...gotta love our gang's dreams!)
Or we could just have a non-themed swap...the "just-because" swap. Send what your partner likes in general without worrying about a theme....
Fourth of July Swap....(red white and blue??--Yeah, I know... but I'm trying!! lol)
Or if everyone the signs up has a favorite character we could do one of 2 things: --fave is different so we just have a favorite swap and everything is that one character --fave is all the same and hav4e a Spike Swap or Willow Swap, etc.
These are just brief ideas and examples....did this spark anything from anyone? Do any of these actually sound good?

I like the dreams one! I'm not really able to make any customs, due to me sucking at artsy stuff and being in school, but I think that we could all be creative and do something! Plus I like the character thing too, that rocks.
I'd do either.

I like the idea of a 'just because', 'specific character swap', or a 'dreams' swap. Does it work if you're not a customizer? I'm not, and I was wondering if OTHER thngs would be okay. Or even 'bought' if you're worried about giving ur partner a good quality thing and don't have the skills to make something. Would a "buy or try" (i.e make) be okay or does everyone need to do the same? Buy.. or Make? I like the idea of a circle swap. But I guess partner would work better just cos then your working hard to make ssomething good for the other person and partners that put in a lot of effort don't get swaps from people who haven't.

I like the idea of partners. We should totally be partners, Jess. But yea, we should totally go for it. I can pretty creative when it comes to...buying stuff!

^ Yeeah partners!!! I think I would attempt to make something first and if it sucked I would buy something as a backup. I think it shouldn't be you 'have to make' or 'have to buy'. I depends on the persons skillness and what people have time to do.

That's typically how it is, but sometimes everyone involved is crafty or a customizer, so the swap can be all handmade. We definitely don't have to do that!
So 2 people interested?? We need to pick a theme and post a new topic for this. Then people can see the sign-ups and show interest....we need more than just a few people to really make it fun...at least just a few more, ya know?

Im in but Id need lots of time to get it done etc. Im currently trying to juggle stuff between uni homework, part time hosting job, fulltime job and trying to get work experience.
I really loved doing swaps in the past though, and my customizer skills arent up to scratch as they were like 2 years ago but I have loads of random spare parts and paint to use up so itd be fun to get involved in artsy stuff again.
So when were you guys thinking of doing it? june/july/august?

Yeah an official topic with dates and rules etc would probably draw lots of new interest! I think this little thread is hard to find if it's not bookmarked! if there is an official thread and then there still isn't more that 5 people wanting to do it, I'm sure it'd be okay to postpone?

I'd be cool with it either way. I'd love to do it sometime during the summer months, even though I'll be in school the whole time :fail:. I could try my darndest to make something, but it looks as though I'll be buying stuff. Which still can be super fun though!
I vote for making the thread and picking official dates. Spikeluv, would you want to set up the dates and everything, since you've done this before? I'll help with whatever is necessary though.
