LOVED IT. Such a thrill ride. Scary, funny and sad. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I just loved everything about it. I'm hoping for many sequels, or at least something. I need more! I don't want to post spoilers yet since it just came out today, so GO SEE IT! It's amazing!

*Spoiler* *Spoiler* *Spoiler* There's so much theorizing going on right now, that many are saying that Lily is dead too. Apparently there's a fire mass falling shortly after takeoff that a lot of people are claiming to be a helicopter. *Spoiler* *Spoiler* *Spoiler*

SPOILERS!
Now lets talk about those monsters. When I first saw those little dudes, holy crap, those were freaky as hell. I kind of wish there wasn't a close up of the big monster, I really liked only glimpses and not knowing exactly what it was. The close up wasn't a bad thing, I just preferred not knowing. And here's a question I have, was there more then one? A couple times I thougt it looked completely different and smaller or larger, but that could of just been the camera.
I really liked Marlena, she was probably the only character I felt something for. Very sad.

I've always loved Lizzy Caplan. Her ending was sad

I just got back. On the commandercool rating scale of 1 to 10, this movie gets an eight and five quarters. Seriously, if you haven't been yet, do it soon. Bring friends. Do not wait for it to come out on DVD, see it on as big a screen as possible and be impressed.
Also, the previews were utterly awesome. We got Iron Man, Hellboy, AND Star Trek (with the dude who played Sylar in Heroes as Spock).

[glow=red,2,300]spoiler heavy[/glow]Wow. Awesome and very creepy movie. I really can't get over how realistic and believable it was...it sounds crazy to say that about a monster movie but god, I really felt like I was watching someones home movie of a real event! I feel like I missed a few things though because of the fast pace and the camera movements. What happened to the girl that got bitten? when they took her away and then we see the blood spray in the quarantine room, did they shoot her or did she explode?? Also, there is talk of something landing in the water from the sky at the very last scene of the movie at Conney island... if you watch for it, there is certainly a splash in the water but it is pretty non descript. Anyone heard any of the buzz about that? Head over to imdb.com fact and trivia page for Cloverfield if you didn't stay after the credits PS: Mark my words....this movie will some how play int Lost before the series ends...maybe the last episode? Something will Carry through. I am sure of it. It is far too big a coincidence that the creator and writer of lost were involved in this movie and the mysterious beast sounds EXACTLY like the mysterious beast on Lost. Maybe it is the same as something living in the joungle...perhaps the creature that ate the pilot in the first episode... Same m.o. and the same odd noise... created by the same people....... Mark my words

Some of the obssessive fans of this movie did a shot for shot breakdown of the trailer (where it included part of this scene) and you can cleary see her body expand.

I guess it is pretty unneeded to mark spoilers but I am going to anyways because I would hate to be the one to ruin this awesome movie for someone! so.... [glow=red,2,300]SPOILERS[/glow]Eww. That makes this movie even creepier. I saw the person being carted away with the giant hole in his chest and they were saying something about him being bitten but I was not sure if the hole was the bite itself or if it was what happened to people who had been bitten. Like I said, I really liked this movie when I saw it but the more I think about it and the more I look into all of the viral marketing that is going on, the more interested I am! I think the marketing is genius. The new pictures that just "surfaced" via one of the "official" web sites are pretty cool. If you have no clue what I am talking about, check out www.1-18-08.com for a clue about the monsters origins! I know that JJA already told us where the monster came from, but as far as the film is concerned, we have no idea where it came form so it is fun to follow all of the hype and clues being sprinkled about the net!

At www.1-18-08.com you can flip the pictures and a few have writing on the back. I don't know what any of it means, though. One is a postcard and another is in Japanese. Apparently if you stay on long enough, you hear the monster screaming.

There are some great threads on the imdb forums too.
The pictures of the bloody water and the whale carcases were posted the day the movie was released.

So far, response to the movie, as far as I've seen, has been overwhelmingly positive. EVERYONE loves this movie. Even the people who got motion sick and left liked it, at least of the people I've talked to.

I thought it was amazing! I loved the camera. I was a little worried....Blair witch anyone? but these guys actually pulled it off! It felt like you were there, not just watching some girl talk to you while snotting. It was very creepy. Very realistic. I watch for this movie for months, but I made sure to not read anything on the web. I wanted to experience it myself. Now i am going to go read everything and probably see it again. It's just so weird. No closure in the movie...where did it come from? military experiment gone awry? alien? Or what my husband and I think from the clues: it was on earth, but deep in the sea. If you pay close attention, there are many clues indicating that. That pulsing thing on his head: apparatus for breathing under water. And we stayed for the end of the credits....what did he say? Help me? I totally see a sequel coming, but will it live up to this one??? and as for seeing the thing....I like that we saw brief glimpses and such. that made it very creepy. As for the full on head shot, It was cool, but did kill the effect a little, except for the pulsing breathing thingy. maybe that was the big clue! Okay..off to rea the websites and see how close i was!

I finally saw it today!
About 10 minutes into the movie I started feeling hot and barfy... which I did not expect at all! But I stayed for the whole thing because I liked it. It was so much better than I expected. It wasn't too long and it kept the action going! I loved the move, I just wish it didn't make me feel sick.

BuffyFanOne, What did JJA tell us about the monster's origins? I didn't hear that. He said something about the monster being a confused baby, stumbling around and lost and afraid or something like that. He also mentioned that it came from deep in the ocean. Let me see if I can find the direct quote.

imdb.com on the trivia page tells you a TON of stuff. there are a bunch of websites and viral marketing too. really great to read, but only AFTER you see the movie. I think reading it before will kill the magic.
