Just discovered this thread. It's great hearing what everyone sounds like. I always thought that my voice was very weird. I don't think I have a particular accent but more like a mish-mash. I was a military brat so I did a lot of moving around as a child.
I'm actually thinking about uploading clip or something, although I'm not sure. I'm a very shy person.

Okay...I did it. I feel embarrassed cause I hate hearing the sound of my own voice and now it is on youtube for the whole world to hear. Here's the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4vwMolrMMQI also included a couple photos too.

Next year it's at Heathrow. starfury.co.uk/ It's right near the bottom (Echo - 1). Not much info right now as it's so far off. Yay. This is great. I assumed it was in America. Is the child programme for under 18s? And what is the difference in a gold programme?

WOW Dragonweaver I think you DO have a few accents in there! Definately hear the texan in some of you sentences but like at the start you sound something else American! You have a really really pretty voice! Me loves it JEN! You are so adorable! And you do so have an accent It's AMERICAN, and yes there is such a thing as an American accent - you foreignor you! I'm and Aussie, so everyone has a an accent to me But funnily enough when I'm watching TV show - I actually get so engrossed I think they are speaking Australian at me And I know what you mean about having a 'soft accent'. I think that mine is soft too, cos no one here thinks I sound Australian! Haha, but I definatly don't sound American or English or that so I must have some sort of accent! Okay so that is 7 accents now? or 6? I'll overshoot and say 7 and hpefully more people will post! C'mon Charmed One I'm dying to hear ur Irishness

Just Willow - Thanks for sharing the Canadian accent!! I wish I could hear more though! Do you say bag with a midwestern accent? I know they do in Toronto. Where are you from exactly? Do you think there's a difference between the way people talk in Vancouver, in Winnipeg and in Toronto. I know they have some weird accents in Nova Scotia though. Do you agree with what I said in my last video? Ok too many questions! Personnally, just listening to this recording I couldn't pick up on anything that would give you away as Canadian and not American. Meliafairy - Love the NC accent. In this recording it doesn'' come across as very strong though. Just a cool American accent. Almost neutral. I'm sure there would be more to talk about if the recording had been longer though ;-) we should all have everybody read the text I read in my first video. It's a text they use on Accent Archives to reflect all the aspects of the differents accents over the world. -> accent.gmu.edu/ (go check the French accent, ewww) Secret Scoobie - Thanks for the "hot frenchness" compliment! I really try to get rid of it though. Deathisyourgift - Wow, your accent is so soft. It's just a cute little American accent. So you're from Western Massachusetts? Where from? I live in Massachusetts right now. What do you think of the Boston accent? Agree with what I said in my last video? Dragonweaver - Wow, talk about having an accent!! This is such an interesting recording. You sound like a Oklahoma person to me!! It's funny how people from the South almost sound British sometimes. I mean of course your accent is American, kinda Texan, but there's something Bristish about it at times, maybe the tone. Or is just me? Please post more recordings!

There is an American accent!! hahaha but it's not nearly as interesting (to me anyways) as everyone else's accents. Deathisyourgift - Wow, your accent is so soft. It's just a cute little American accent. So you're from Western Massachusetts? Where from? I live in Massachusetts right now. What do you think of the Boston accent? Agree with what I said in my last video? I went to college for my undergrad in Boston, on Brookline Ave. and I loved it. I'm going to grad school in Cambridge and will be moving later this summer. Boston accents are so awesome, I can do one pretty decently haha. -Jen

Ah, questions are fun, though! bag? i say it like....bag. i haven't really heard midwestern accents, so if they say bahg or something, i've never heard it. I'm from Alberta, and i've never really been anywhere else in Canada, so i honestly can't compare accents. Nova Scotia or Newfoundland, one of those little provinces in the east, talk differently, i know that for sure. Yeah, i consider my accent to basically be an American accent, like i don't pronounce 'out' 'oot' or 'ote'. it's always just out. i'm thinking of doing another video soon

haha yeah your Boston accent was pretty bad haha hmmm, video of my imitation Boston accent? I'll think about it Ahaha, I know it sucked. I said it, I can't even do it. It was not even "pretty bad", it was non existant. The "r" would come out anyway. i have a bunch of friends, well, especially one friend who lives in Winthrop and whose Boston accent is INCREDIBLE. Like dead on. The real Boston accent. I wouldn't like to have it though, it would sound weird on me (not that I don't sound weird already with my bizarre FRENCH/Canadian/Michigan sort of accent). I live near Kendall/MIT by the way! Wow, it's fun to have somebody on the board who lives so close!

I never really noticed a difference on the "out" word but my friends from Michigan did pick up on the way Canadians pronounce "house", at least in Toronto. And I could tell they were right, there is a slight difference. But most things you hear on TV about Canadians are cliches! Yay for another video!! EDIT: sorry if this is considered double posting!! I was hoping somebody would post in the meantime!

Wow, it's fun to have somebody on the board who lives so close! well your accent is so interesting on it's own, I don't think adding the Boston R="AH" would be fun, haha. There are different accents within Boston area, the north shore speaks differently from the south shore, and people in Reading speak differently from people in Jamaica Plain, etc. I find it pretty interesting. Well one of the great things about SlayAlive.com is that it connects us to people all over the world, but yeah it's nice to know that you're not the only one in your hemisphere on the board haha yeah we should get together and watch Buffy Marathons sometime!

Just Willow - Aww thanks for the new video!! You do sound American to me. Nothing I can pick up on (damn!). I'm sure native Americans would find something to say though.
Deathisyourgift - Oh yeah! Let's get together and do Buffy marathons one of these days! And then we can post a video of the two of us on Slayalive... to prove that we do live in the same area... not that people really care!

I let a few of my friends hear the accent piece I recorded yesterday and they all, including Emmie, seem to agree that I was attempting to pronounce the words without my accent soooo I figure I will record another video. I think maybe I will try to read Mathieu's piece that is supposed to show accents. I'll post it as soon as I do it in a few minutes.
BTW: Neither one of my awesomely cute kittens are in the room right now so I guess the vid will be of me. I apologize in advance that I look terrible but I am pretty sick currently (not with a cold so my voice is normal) and of course when you are at home sick there is no reason to try to be cute...
