Okay fellow Scribes! Here's where you can share your ideas for prompts for the first challenge. I'd also like to get a sense of what type of piece everyone would like to do. Length, format, etc.
Subject: for example - favorite character, favorite relationship, favorite episode, a what-if moment, post-series, comics-based, etc.
Length: drabble (100 words), double drabble (200 words), ficlet (500-1000 words), fic (+1000 words)
Format: prose, poetry, songfic
What length would all participants like to start off with? (I'm leaning towards something not too long personally.)
What format would everyone prefer or would you like the format to be left open with a mixture of prose and poetry for each prompt?
Preferred Subject: Preferred Length: Preferred Format:
If you have a specific idea for a subject prompt, please share it here!

Preferred Subject: Maybe we could choose our favorite character(s)(ones we connect with), and write just a short tale about them. This way we will be able to write the character much better, because of how close we are to them.
Preferred Length:I wouldn't mind(for a short story) around 1,000-2,000 words. ;D

How about this as a prompt: Using your favorite Buffyverse Whedonverse character or relationship, show us what makes them beautiful/awesome/amazing to you. Show us why you love them. I'm thinking about making this first challenge open format (prose or poetry) so that everyone can participate and feel comfortable. If you choose to write prose, there will be a minimum word count (probably 500 word minimum). If you choose to write poetry, then the length will be dictated by what form of poetry you use. You can view different forms of poetry here.

Just a reminder - this thread is also going to be where we propose ideas for future prompts too. If you have an idea brewing in the back of your head, share it here!
I think the prompt I posted above will be a nice way for us to get started. I'll do an official announcement in a day or so specifying the deadline and where to send your submission.
How long does everyone feel they'll need for this challenge? A week? Two weeks? It's okay to take your time. Fiction is all the better for being well-edited.

I'm leaning towards two weeks also.
It's a good idea to have your work beta'd everyone. There's some resources where you can look for beta's listed in the Writing Resource Library in the Fanfiction board.

Just my thoughts, but I find that 2 weeks works really well for Bannerama submission time, and I think it would work for this as well. A lot of times I will get like 3-4 banners within the last few hours of those 2 weeks. I would imagine the same would happen for this as well, and writing is often even more time consuming than banner making. For Bannerama we do 2 weeks for submissions, 5 days - 1 week for voting (usually 5 days works best), and then 1 week of down time so people don't get tired of competing.
The prompt sounds great, btw. I definitely think I will compete in this one.

Just a thought - but would y'all like me to adjust the prompt to just be Whedonverse character?
That way if people want to write Firefly or Dollhouse fiction, they can.

No way will I say that, Jay Dubbs! I most definitely want to hear your opinions. I want to hear everybody's thoughts. SPAM the thread if you guys want as long as it's on-topic.
ETA: And hey, it's not SPAM if it's on-topic so it's more like Pseudo!Spam.

The prompt idea is so cool and I like the idea of changing it to Whedonverse, it'd be cool to read/write some great Firefly and Dollhouse stuff.
And I guess I'll post an idea:
Preferred Subject: Maybe a historical flashback story about the characters before the show, focusing on a character(s) like the Fanged Four (Angelus, Spike, Drusilla and Darla), Anyanka, The Master, Halfrek, Glory, Illyria... any character that has some kind of long history. Preferred Length: Probably a ficlet or fic. Preferred Format: Prose.

I love that idea, E! Does this mean you might submit a story too?

I love that idea, E! Does this mean you might submit a story too? Haha, maaaybe. Depends on if I'm feeling creative, but I bet it'd end up being FAIL.
