There have been some great novelists on the Buffy bandwagon, all of whom have their plusses but my personal favourite is Chris Golden. Whether alone or in partnership with others Chris always delivers a great story with good characters and plenty of plot.
So who floats the boat for others?
No right or wrong answers here, just personal opinions and taste.

I mainly like Nancy Holders books, Queen of the Slayers is my personal all time favourite, I liked her season eight better than the comic really!

What's the title of the Season Eight book? i think she's talking about Queen of the Slayers. that and Dark Congress are the two best alternate season 8 books. as for me, i love Nancy Holder also, and Christopher Golden.

I like Nancy Holder, and Diana G Gallagher. I have a few Christopher Golden books but I haven't read them yet. I really like Doomsday Deck [DGG] and I love the Angel Chronicles [novelizations]. All very good! I'm in the middle of "The Harvest" right now.

My personal favorite is Chris Golden. I especially am enjoying the Lost Slayer series at the moment. I couldn't put book 2 down, literally. I read it until it was done.

I loved the lost slayer. i bought the omnibus version a few years back so just read al the parts together in one which was cool. Chris golden is my favourite author by farrrrrr. I think his solo efforts are far better than Nancy Holders solo books...but when the two pair up its buffy gold. lol. I remember reading The Gatekeeper trilogy bloody yeaaarrrsss ago and loving every second of it.

I remember reading a ton of the Buffy books way back in high school, and even before that. I don't remember many of them now, which is why I've been revisting them, and catching up on the newer ones.
I just bought the Lost Slayer on eBay the other day, as soon as it arrives I'll be finishing up parts 3 & 4.

I don't have favorite authors here... since most have failed miserably at one point or another for me. I remember reading The Gatekeeper trilogy when I was much younger, and even then, I felt that the ending was horribly executed. The entire premise was epic; the idea of the house, and its keepers, running parallel to the whole Slayer thing was an interesting concept, but something about the whole ending just let me down. Maybe it was Buffy's battle with some tentacled demon or something... but it just fell flat. Never read Queen of the Slayers or Dark Congress, but I may look at those at some point. I did enjoy Spike and Dru: Pretty Maids All in a Row very much. I think that's the one book that has withstood the test of time for me, despite not having read it in forever. The other one that I was really excited about when I was younger was The Book of Fours. I refused to buy the hardback, so I waiting impatiently for the paperback to be released, but again, the end just felt kinda lethargic to me. The Lost Slayer was quite good from what I remember, and I remember thinking that the fight between Buffy and the other Slayer in the holding cell was particularly brutal. Child of the Hunt was quite haunting at points, but at times read kinda like a supernatural romance novel (or at least that's what I thought). These are the ones that particularly stand out for me. I used to have a rather extensive collection of the thicker novels, but I think I may have told my mother to either give them away, or sell them when she last moved again. Perhaps there's something about the Buffyverse that doesn't translate as well when not in a visual medium, but I find a lot of the writing in these books flabby and underwhelming. There is no resonance simply because these are tie-in merchandise, and for that reason (probably), a lot of them lack any real thematic significance, and for that matter, reads like so-so fanfic.
