I'm so excited. I can't wait to see where the story goes next. I didn't think I'd get into it as much as I have. I'm just as excited, if not more, then when a Season 8 issue comes out.

if Groo is back maybe he now has the visions and Cordy speaks to him and told him to go to L.A and help Angel. He was suppost to have them after all. Maybe Lorne has them now. He killed a guy and now fits the atonement requirement. "Groo and Lorne" the Angel and Doyle of 2005 lol

I find myself waiting for AtF with more unease than Season 8. I feel like I NEEDED AtF. Season 8 is like a bonus to the Buffyverse.

Well I find myself anticipating them both with equal fervor, but I do love how it seems to be everyone's mission over at "After the Fall" Headquarters to give us all a big shock after the end of each issue. That isn't so much the case with Buffy. Sure we have had some surprises, but rarely one at the end of each issue.

Well that's the Mystery Person from #6. The Mystery Man from Franco Urru's #5 is who we're about to discover the identity of.

I wish that we would get more concrete release dates for After The Fall like we do with Season 8.

Spoilers! (Do I even need to put that? After all, it's a thread about the new issue; isn't it inherent?)
Well, it's Groo. Unlike some people, I'm actually excited about this. I recently rewatched Season 3 and toward the end it really looked like they were going to make him a major character. It woulda been nice too. He had almost an Anyaness to him, only flavored with a hint of overwhelming naivete and idealism. And he steps right back into stride in the comic, much to my delight =)
It was nice getting a glimpse of the alley. Especially Angel's concern for Gunn. For some reason, I had pictured them just forgetting about him in the battle (probably cause that's what Gunn claimed happened, heh), so it was nice to see that Angel really was trying to watch out for his brothers (and sister) in arms. Good intro for Wesley too.
One thing that's bugging me about this issue is that apparently Wes has known Angel was human all along. If that's the case, what the hell was with his line in the first comic about the healing creature? "This thing is alive?" "Something in the room should be." Ok, so they apparently agreed not to talk about him being human. That doesn't mean that Wes would make obviously erroneous statements, he'd just avoid the topic. What's the deal?
I dunno what to think about Lorne. It's nice to see he's found something to restore his faith, but at the same time it's a loss of some good potential for character development. Also, how the hell did Lorne manage to conquer part of LA?? I'm assuming we'll get that answer in First Night, but right now it seems a bit... odd. Hopefully First Night'll also have at least a little bit of Lorne's moral dilemma before he gets back to happy shiny Lorne.
What else?.... They really need to start revealing more about what Gunn's up to. Hopefully issue 5'll handle that, cause right now it's starting to drag on a bit long. I get that they need stuff to surprise us with, but I think some more of that needs to focus on what's gonna happen next instead of what's already happened. We're four issues in and most of it's still looking back instead of looking forward. I'd really like some of these issue-by-issue shocks to start being more focused on "Holy crap, I can't believe that just happened," rather than "Here's more stuff you didn't know that the characters have all along." With that said, I'm happy to say that this issue's ending finally takes that course.
Anyway, despite my nitpicks, it overall continues to be extraordinary. Maybe a little bit heavy on the fanservice with the return of so many formerly minor characters, but, hey, I'm a fan, so it makes me happy, hehe. I eagerly anticipate the next issue.
Also, the Loan Shark has holographic technology. Or can astral project. Either way, his legend continues to grow!
EDIT: Oh, and is it just my imagination or is that the Necronomicon they're using to heal Angel? Probably shouldn't be using that thing. They've got enough problems as it is without zombie armies, tree rapists, and laughing furniture.

SPOILERS!
While I really enjoyed this issue, I do feel like it dragged on a bit in the middle. But it was still wicked good. Words cannot describe how happy I was when I saw Lorne. I'm happy he is at peace again, and I'm hoping in First Night we will learn more about how he felt killing Lindsey, because I was excited about that. Groo! So cool and funny. The first couple pages were probably my favorite. Seeing part of the alley fight was way too cool, but the scene itself was pretty sad. Now we know why Angel "couldn't move" for a couple months. And what an ending! Wolfram and Hart, BOOM!, Wesley gone. Can't wait for the next issue!

SPOILERS!!!Just read it, frakking brilliant as usual. Yet further evidence of how ATF kicks the crap out of Season 8 One thing though, when Groo shows up in this issue he's got his long hair. If it is him on the cover of #5 I'm guessing he gets a haircut by then? ;D Also, Spike was doing a bit of time jumping as we saw Angel do in #3. How about that panel of Spike holding Buffy's scythe??? What the hell's that all about? I don't know, but I can't wait to find out

I'm not following ATF cos my comic store isn't importing it, but appearently there's another mystery man (or woman) in issue #5 -and, although it would kinda be too fan-pleasing, i would LOVE IT to be Cordelia.
She has always been a great character, ever since her appearence in Angel, and, tho i didnt really like her in BtVS (yet she rocked season 3), Cordy has really grown in me, and i think her sendoff with the Jasmine storyline was awful - and an episode like You're Welcome was not enough anyway, it would still not do her justice. I'm not talking about a regular role in the comics, but maybe her presence in First Night might be justified, and also be a potential fantastic developement for such a fan-favourite character

I have always loved Cordelia. She was absolutely hilarious in the first 3 seasons of Buffy, and I enjoyed her development on Angel as well. That being said, I don't want to see her return. I thought her story ended quite nicely in Season 5, and unless they brought her back in a very believable way, I just don't see it working very well.

Mild Spoliers
Solid issue overall in my opinion. I am a little skeptical about bring back Groo, but Brian always seems to make sense to these decisions in due time, so I am going to trust him.
It seems like Gunn is torn, I am excited to learn about his situation, probably the most out of anyone. He seems to be holding on to old vendettas, and doesn't seem to just be killing randomly, so I wonder if there is more to his situation.
Can't wait for issue 5!
