This coming Thursday would make it 4 weeks since the last one. So hopefully...

We never find out the release date of a new issue until the Sunday before it is released. Chris Ryall posts all the week's new releases on his blog every Sunday.
So we won't find out if it is out next week until tomorrow.

No, not this week. The only "Angel" things that come out are the cover gallery issue and the second printing of the second hardcover.

Can't see why it wouldn't come out this coming week. I'm betting on it!

Lynch and Urru are amazing obviously, but who did the colors and where have you been all my life? WOW.

Thoughts on preview: I thought that first page of Angel holding Connor after his birth and his death was pretty heart breaking. I'd already noticed the parallels between the two scenes and to see them side by side was beautiful. Angel's thoughts were so simple and effective.
It's hard to believe I used to hate the character of Connor passionately. I've had mixed opinions about After the Fall, but the redemption of both Kate and Connor (who were both insufferable IMO in the TV series) has been truly admirable. I'm glad I grew to like Connor before he died.
Angel's "rogue demon hunter" line was pure cheese, but I couldn't help but smile.

Lynch and Urru are amazing obviously, but who did the colors and where have you been all my life? WOW. Yep, Fabio Mantovani made a huge splash, didn't he? I fell in love with his work in #15. Just read the preview, everyone let's use the spoiler tags when discussing its contents until the day the issue is released. So yeah, it looks like a reset. Which was something everyone was suggesting and theorizing on. I think the death of Connor really sealed it for me. Killing Connor is just the worst possible thing to happen to Angel and to the beleaguered message of ANGEL. Connor was Angel's hope. The one good thing he and Darla did together. So for nothing else, I'm happy to reset this to bring Connor back.
At the very least, it looks like Angel is going to try and get himself killed so that W&H is forced to "pull a better him out of the timeline." And he's chosen Gunn to be his executioner.
The Angel Cover Gallery for issues 1 through 5 came out the other day and I was looking at the Urru cover they used from #5. It has Angel, Spike, Wes, Illyria, Gunn, Lorne, Connor, Gwen, Groo, Nina, Cordragon and Betta George.
Now check out everyone who's died during After the Fall: Angel, Spike, ghost!Wes, Illyria, Gunn, Lorne, Connor, Gwen, Groo, Nina, Cordragon and Betta George.
So we've got Angel, Spike, ghost!Wes, Lorne, Nina and Betta George. Can we see why a reset is necessary? ghost!Wes is starting to get a bit tired for me the way that ghost!Spike got tired after a while. Lorne is the definition of supporting cast - he definitely adds to the dynamic but he doesn't work to fill the voids left by Angel's team losing Cordy, Fred, Wes and Gunn. Nina is the definition of supporting cast that is so unimportant she keeps disappearing. Betta George is a great supporting cast member but he's also apparently not in Aftermath and he has no reason to further associate with Angel once Hell-A is over. So that leaves Angel working with Spike. Hee! Not exactly the ideal choice, certainly not what Angel would choose.
So yeah, reset. AtF killed "everyone important to [Angel], slaughtered everyone in the city" and now he must throw himself on Gunn's sword to set it right. Like how Angel killing Connor in Home activated the spell. By killing himself, he forces W&H's hand. And rightly so - he is their one and only interest. Their investment they must protect at all costs. I imagine they'd write off Hell-A as a failed experiment, costly and something they'd be hesitant to do again because of how it ended. W&H played chicken with Angel, trying to bend him to their will by destroying his city and killing all his friends. End result: he kills himself. Asset lost. Time to re-evaluate diabolical plan in the next staff meeting.
My one complaint here is that the W&H agent commits the villain cliche of talking too damned much. Which is something that W&H is not known for - they're more the listen to us laugh archly as you wiggle and writh in anguish at our machinations. *sings* We are so clever! The only times I can remember W&H squealing were when Lindsey defected or when Angel tortured the info out of them (Gavin and Eve). Otherwise it was mum's the word. These W&H agents just talk too much. It goes against the tone of W&H imo.
Especially considering this is the voice of the Senior Partners or something like it. They need to be more cryptic. The mystery of their agenda and how they feel is a cornerstone of the series. The Senior Partners are to be feared, referred to vaguely and referenced by the images of Wolf, Ram and Hart. Ephemeral evil. Like smoke that creeps up and chokes you. This blabbing is just taking them down a bunch of notches on the 'I'm lame now' bed post. This voice should be the equivalent of Lilah or Holland Manners. Always talking in riddles, confusing as hell and amused at Angel's pain. The W&H impersonator of Fred in Wes' First Night had the better tone, but it's apparently been lost at this point.
Rogue demon hunter was pure cheese, as Paul says. I kinda rolled my eyes a bit at it.

As much as Connor's death bummed me out, a reset has the potential of ruining the entire story for me. It's just a very cheap storytelling device, in most cases.
Also, I remember that Joss's main criticism of Brian's first Angel: After the Fall draft was that the characters were more or less back where they started by the end, the status quo was the same, nothing really changed -- and wouldn't a reset do exactly that?

I'm not sure we can count Gunn out quite yet, Emmie. He's technically dead, yeah, but--as one Michael Cera would say--samesies for Wes and Spike. I'm starting to think Gunn, evil or not, might make it through "After the Fall."
Might be eating my words this Wednesday, but we'll see. I'm just not 100% sure that Gunn will be dust when the dust clears.

Pat, I'm not saying he's dead-dead because he's clearly undead. But he died in AtF - the Gunn who worked on Team Angel died in First Night and was reborn a twisted, evil mess. He's a villain who needs killing IMO. At least, that's how I feel with the way things currently stand. Which isn't saying much now that "timeline" discussion has entered the narrative.
Which really begs the question - how do you mess with the timeline without completely resetting the story so that all the action becomes pointless? My initial assumption was a reset was being played out, but we'll see how it goes.

OK Brian, I have to admit:
...Give him room to breathe...
...Rogue Demon Hunter...
...The parallells between Connor's birth and death...
In my profession as a literature and laguage teacher I've read about 1000 books in my life... AATF is becoming more literature with every issue, and the three things I mentioned above are really brilliant. It is very difficult for a book or story to impress me, because I've seen a lot of them.
This preview did.

Was the preview taken down? Only thing I see at the link are the covers. Which, btw, Franco's new cover is amazing! EDIT: Here is Franco's cover which I added to the first post.

They were never supposed to go up, As this is the big climax of the story the intention was to keep it all for the actual issue. The fact that they went up was annoying. Ryall and I were pretty shocked. Somebody didn't get the memo!

Brian, I think you might need a better bag to keep your cats in. Thankfully, the rest of the them didn't make a run for it - they're still inside and keeping their catty secrets.
