*squee* ;D I think it's a great idea to motion comic the season 8s, I just hope the voice actors are quality (not expecting the original cast, but sound-alikes at least).

If it's a real animated series, that's wonderful.
If it's just a "motion comic," I'm not at all sure I'd pay money for it.
"Motion comics" were cheesy and lame when Marvel Comics did them 40 years ago. They haven't gotten any less cheesy or lame since. Gonna have to take a stand here and say I'd like a little effort for my money. At least, something better than a teenager with a good graphics program could make at home.
But, hopefully it's real animation.

I think my heart skipped a beat when I read this. OMG. I hope it's an animated series! I can't believe this is actually happen. And to be serious, how hard would it be to get the original cast to come in for a few days and have a big Buffy reunion while recording some lines AND get paid?
I CANT WAIT. I especially can't wait till a trailer in October. Come on Joss, it's been leaked, just give us it NOW.

I haven't paid much attention to this because I assume it will just be a motion comic. They did an Astonshing X-Men motion comic a while back, and I only watched a few minutes of it because it was crap.
Hopefully, it's a straight-to-DVD film version of the old animated series.
EDIT: I just saw that it's being advertised as the "S8 adaptation" so that rules out the old animated series. Guess it's a motion comic then.

One thing that gives me hope is this Q&A answer Scott Allie gave:
Now, at the time he said that, the "specifics" everyone was talking about were that there would be a motion comic... but he says those specifics are not accurate. The only real alternative is an actual animated project.
I have a hard time imagining Joss settling for something as lame as a motion comic... I think he'd rather do nothing at all than something like that.
I could see them doing this (with Fox funding) as a web series. I don't know whether they'd simply adapt each issue line-for-line as an episode, or if they'd re-edit it so it flowed like a TV series. I assume the finished series would be released on DVD.

Ugh, no interest in a motion comic. I already have the comics, dont need to see them in motion. Animated series please.

Apparently this project is being done by FOX and Dark Horse is out of the loop. Which is...odd. But yeah, it's all FOX. Simon on Whedonesque says he has a reliable source calling it a motion comic. Hopefully we'll hear more from FOX about the project soon.

Pass.
Can't imagine what the supposed appeal of these things would be. Nothing screams "we just couldn't be bothered to do anything better" like a motion comic.

i'll wait to pass till the word is final. I don't think they'd waste the time and money to make a motion comic if most motion comics are lame and know will upset the fanbase.

Quite a few people out there like the motion comics. It's a mystery to me why, considering how primitive they are compared to the stuff we're used to seeing, on TV and online. Animation really isn't that hard or expensive to do nowadays, especially if it's 2D and designed for the small screen.
Motion comics would be fine as a DIY fan project... but for a major media corporation like 20th Century Fox to come out with it as a commercial project? Not sure the bar on commercial entertainment can be set much lower than that.
I don't know why Dark Horse isn't involved. I don't know if Joss is. They certainly had better be paying Georges if they're using his artwork.

Eeeeeeeeee.
Any sort of new life being brought into the Buffyverse is AWESOME.
I wonder, if DH isn't involved...what would these be? Would they be a part of S8? The dreaded C word....canon. Motion comics or animations? DVDs or online only?
They could be anything from random scenes from the early years, Pre-Buffy, to what might have happened before S8 started.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE them to come out on DVD, my Buffy shelf needs some new life to it.

There was somebody on here a while ago complaining about how you actually have to read the comic books. *gasp* I guess motion comics would appeal to those people.

Personally I’d like a motion comic. I’d prefer an actual animated series any day but if it turns out to be motion comic I’ll still be happy. It does no harm and it’s just a bit of extra season 8 material to take a look at. I don’t see the downside at all. Fingers crossed for an animated cartoon though

I just think its overkill. We have the comics, tpbs, deluxe hard covers and now a motion comic. And its all the same... just diffrent formats. Enough already. Please please please let it be something else!

I hope its a full animated series. But I will be happy with motion comics as well. I just hope its a full voice cast and not just one guy reading all the lines like in the Watchmen ones. If its anything like the Astonishing Xmen one thats online right now I will be really happy.

If its an animated series with the original actors coming back to do voice overs. I will by ten copies of each DVD related to it. Yup.
