Coolio!! Especially looking forward to "Blood and Trenches"--the flashbacks on the show were some of my very favorite parts...

Sweet! I'll be reading no matter what, but is this like official canon. Does it have Joss' blessing?
I'm kind of thinking about making anything Brian does canon from now on. It seems like Joss has kind just handed the reigns over to him on that one.
I'm totally stoked about this one, though!

It seems like Joss has kind just handed the reigns over to him on that one. I think the rules of official cannon are going to be very blurry regarding Lynch. Joss has disgarded Angel. Lynch is running it at the moment and he's more than capable, but as far as we know, only ATF has actually had input from Joss. I'm with you though in judging what Lynch does as cannon. He's not going to interfere with the events of the show anymore, so he shouldn't be able to screw up any continuity. "Angel: Aftermath" is a weak title in my opinion.

Brilliant that there is going to be more Angel for us all to read, few questons though
1) Will they be canon?
2) Is it set after the fall? (sort of like a season 7)
3) Are they all going to be written by Brian Lynch?
4) How long will the series last for?

The way that's worded....does anyone else thing there's at least one more series in the works?
"The book will return in 2009 as "Angel: Aftermath," which will further continue Angel's struggles. More stories involving the brooding vampire are slated for the future, including 2009's Lynch-penned "Angel: Blood and Trenches," about Angel's exploits during World War I."
Regardless, I'd at least expect Aftermath to be canon since the timing and the title seem to indicate that it spins right out of After the Fall. Guess we'll find out as we get closer to the releases huh?
These stories are just never gonna give my poor wallet a break huh?

Shouldn't everything from now on from IDW that is Angel-related be counted as canon? Lynch is a show writer as far as I am concerned, and everything the he and IDw put out is official in my book. (Not getting at *you* by the way:)-was just in repsonse to everybodies 'is it canon' thing)

(Not getting at *you* by the way:)-was just in repsonse to everybodies 'is it canon' thing) Well, just for the record, not everything done by a show writer or actor is considered canon (a buttload of the original comics for example). I'm more or less willing to consider Lynch's work canon. Especially given that his originally non-canon work is what landed him After the Fall (and makes Asylum and Shadow Puppets capable of being canon if we so desire). But I fully understand why people would question it. We want to know what's actually happening to these characters.

I wouldn't necessarily consider everything done by IDW canon. I have decided that unless Joss explicitly states that it's not, anything from ATF onward that Brian does is canon.... it's his baby now . But not necessarily anything from IDW. I fully expect IDW to start coming out with these random Angel-based one-shots from random writers. Why wouldn't they? They're a business and they need to capitalize on the the success of ATF. I mean... whenever a Marvel comic gets popular, there are always these side-stories. Sometimes they directly contradict what's going on in the main book. That's not canon in my opinion. But Brian, you should feel proud. You've reached the level of canon-maker. I'm so proud of you! *tear* (that was a happy tear, not sad). Okay, it's been 24 hours since I've slept. So... sorry if none of this message made sense. I'm going to sleep now.

BRIAN LYNCH said on IDW concerning "Aftermath": "As for ANGEL:AFTERMATH, one of the writers was announced at the panel but for some reason it wasn't mentioned in the article. It too, is really good news. Ryall and I met with this person yesterday to talk about it. I'm gonna let Ryall spill all. "
BRIAN LYNCH said on IDW concerning "Blood and Trenches": "I just found out about BLOOD AND TRENCHES on Wednesday. It sounds cool, but I have nothing to do with it. The internet, for once, is wrong. As for who IS doing it... it's good. Really good."

Best news I have heard since I heard about "After the Fall"! I am sure that "Aftermath" will be canon. IDW is sitting on a goldmine with "Angel". I will be VERY disappointed if it is not canon. If it is not canon, that goldmine will cave in. I will read it either way, but canon will give it a better meaning.

I think that Angel: Aftermath is probably going to be canon, whether or not Joss has a hand in plotting out its story like he did with ATF. It's a continuation of Angel's story that takes place right after ATF, and its being written by Lynch. That's good enough criteria to be considered canon in my book.

I don't buy anything that's not canon, well for Angel anyway. I don't think everything by Lynch is canon unless Joss says so. That's pretty much the rule.
