I think Illyria is definitely genderless, but in the show (and ATF and S:ATF) they decided to make the personal pronoun 'she' to be more sensitive to Fred's death and that Illyria looked so much like Fred. plus it'd be a bit weird if they had used 'it'...

Scary thought. For me, I find it very hard to see Illyria as a male. Like I said, I prefer to think of her as a female, even when she was an Old One

She seems feminine to me. I kind of just mainstreamed in to thinking that she is a girl Btw, it would just be wrong if she is not, considering the Illyria/Spike twist in the series, but mostly in the comics?

I've always thought of Illyria being genderless in its' natural form and when it inhibited Fred it became a "she." Ys...I this is pretty much the way I see it.
