Well, this thread was good and buried. But just saw some news about it, so I thought I'd revive it. Apparently, the prequel will be a two-parter. Click HERE to read the story.

They're still going through with this?? And it'll be in two parts?? Man, is Hollywood bored or just simply bored?

I'm still excited for the two-parter prequel, even if there won't be any actual Xenomorphs in it.

Well, the xenomorphs are hybrids anyway... their DNA is usually mixed with that of the host, and the resulting adult usually shares some of the traits of the host. The xenomorphs in the first, second, and fourth movies were very humanoid looking, since their hosts were humans. But if I recall correctly, the xenomorph in the third movie resembled a dog. And the chestburster that popped out of one of the Predators in the first AVP movie shared the characteristic Predator crabby mouth. So whatever it is the xenomorphs actually are, they didn't start out looking the way we're used to seeing them. I'm sure some of the basics will be kept... last I checked, humans don't sport a 7 foot tail with a barb at the end.

I'll look forward to two hours of intrigue and 15 minutes of cop-out explanation then, lol

im not really thrilled with the idea that they are going to redesign the Alien, when it was beyond perfect to begin with. Sure it was used thoughout many sequals, but still, it worked!

Well, it's not going to really be redesigned. Certain elements of the xenomorphs are retained, regardless of the host. So those things will more than likely be retained. And the creature design has actually been tweaked numerous times over the years. Subtle changes, but there are changes... usually because the technology got better, and they could get closer to the original design without the bother of some earlier constraints.

When reading articles and watching documentaries with Sigourney Weaver, she even says that if the script for an Alien 5 was good enough she would be eager to return to do the project. She said that she has always been asked things like "where did the Alien come from?" And she thinks that it would be a great topic to explore the origin and the beginning of the species. I got on an Alien kick and watched the interviews on that 10 disc set they released like years ago - way cool.
Even if it wasn't Ripley, I'd love to see something like the dark part of speace where that species originated.

We now have a title! Check it out HERE. Also, I'd love for Michelle Yeoh to be in this movie. Fellow Malaysian pride aside, she's played total badass women in the past (see her Hong Kong film career).

Michelle Yeoh is so great, I hope she's in it too.
Just got the Alien Anthology for Blu-Ray over Black Friday so I'm getting even more pumped for this.
