Wyn, I'm going to add a category to the survey Thing you saw coming a mile away: The water canteen was drugged. Great question! I'll add it to the list: Updated list: Episode 2: The Target - Questionnaire Favorite character:Least favorite character: Favorite scene:Least favorite scene:Biggest surprise:Thing you saw coming a mile away:Thoughts on Echo's personality:Thoughts on this week's engagement:Question you want answered most: Did you enjoy this episode more than the prior one?Episode 2: The Target - Questionnaire Favorite character: Boyd. His flashback scenes were awesome. It was really great to see where his head was at 3 months ago, and where it was in the present. It made his interaction with Echo near the end much more emotional Least favorite character: Probably Lubov, but we are supposed to not like him. Favorite scene: Boyd and "Jenny's" scene where Jenny asks Boyd if he trusts her and Boyd says "with my life" great flip from the scenes we saw earlier where Boyd and Echo established their initial trust. It is awesome that we are getting scenes like this in only the second episode. Least favorite scene: The scene right after Jenny and Connell had sex. He was breathing/grunting so loud afterward, I just kind of laughed. Biggest surprise: When the cop shoots Boyd's driver. Wasn't expecting that at all. Great surprise. Thing you saw coming a mile away: Agree with Emmie, the canteen trick was way too obvious. I like that it didn't knock her out though, just made her loopy. That led to some fun scenes. Thoughts on Echo's personality: Jenny was another winner, this episode. While not as developed as Ms. Penn, Jenny's fear and struggles throughout this episode really made me feel for the character. Thoughts on this week's engagement: A lot more exciting than last week's. The predator/prey angle was really cool, and I loved how Jenny turned the tables at the end. Great plot for this episode. Question you want answered most: Why did Alpha spare Echo and Claire? Did you enjoy this episode more than the prior one? Yeah, definitely. Last week's episode was surprisingly good, but this episode was an improvement in almost every way. Tons of character development and I enjoyed the script a lot more.

The Tabula Rasa line made my day. And overall, I loved the episode. It seems as though Joss is following his usual pattern with Alpha being the big bad to some degree. Im guessing the guy who was watching the video of Echo at the end of ep 1 is Alpha.
One thing I don't get, if the Dollhouse technically doesn't exist. How do they advertise, how do people know where to hire them?

I've gotta say the quality of production on Dollhouse is just awesome. The look of the show is so dynamic and entertaining. Love it. It looks amazing on my HDTV. I agree, I was telling Ethan last week that this show will look amazing when it comes out on Blu-Ray. Besides Lost, it is probably one of the best looking shows in HD right now (other stand outs being Heroes, 24, House and Mad Men). The black levels in "Ghost" during the rooftop scene where Echo/Ms. Penn talked with the kidnapped girl's father in particular were nearly perfect. That is almost impossible when a TV is outputting an HD picture at only 720p, as opposed to 1080p HD picture with Blu-Ray. And the cinematography during tonight's episode was great. Loved the composition during the flashbacks and the outdoor scenes in the woods looked amazing.

Yeah, the outdoor scenes looked amazing in HD. There was one shot I really loved when Echo was running and the camera was more focused on the blue sky and Echo. While it looks great, the sound has been sort of wonky for me during the last two episodes. Don't know if it's my cable provider, but some scenes are just too quiet.

Episode 2: The Target - QuestionnaireFavorite character: Topher. I knew Joss would finally get this character down and he did in the second episode. It is the one spot, that I see so far, that the silly Joss Whedon lovable dialogue can really shine through. Glad to have this character on the show. Least favorite character: The male active with the awful accent. Favorite scene: The end. When Echo slapped her shoulder... Least favorite scene: Echo/Hunter Dude's sex, river rafting...I feel like we're going to be seeing a lot of male and female's having fun on this show before the action starts. I also hated the male active in the car with the woman...too much kissing. Biggest surprise: That Alpha killed the dude in the van. Thing you saw coming a mile away: Her being hunted. Thoughts on Echo's personality: Even though she changes from episode to episode, I sorta like her. I like her when she is in her tabula rasa phase because I sorta feel bad for her. Thoughts on this week's engagement: Very well done. Much better than last weeks. Question you want answered most: Anything about Alpha... Did you enjoy this episode more than the prior one? Definitely. The dialogue this week was much much much improved and the overall awkwardness of the pilot episode was completely gone. It was almost perfect, in my opinion. I can't wait to show this one to my parents and see if they liked it or not. I'll let you all know. It'll be like the new announcement, did Tyler's parents like this weeks episode?

Episode 2: The Target - Questionnaire Favorite character: Echo, Boyd, Topher Least favorite character: Laurence Favorite scene: Echo kicking that psycho's ass! Least favorite scene: The scene where Echo wakes up (it's getting too repetitive and it's only the second episode!) Biggest surprise: That hired guy shooting Boyd's partner. Thing you saw coming a mile away: Ok... Um.. I'm not that smart Thoughts on Echo's personality: I love how she uses that hand to shoulder thing at the end of the episode. It shocked me.. more than I thought it would. She's remembering. She's not just empty-Echo anymore. I can't wait till she's secretly a person and still wandering around Dollhouse acting like nobody. Thoughts on this week's engagement: Awesome Idea. I loved the action and the fight. I loved Boyd's inclusion. I wanted more explanation on why the psycho was such a psycho though. Did he get is rocks off on hunting his date after sex? lol Question you want answered most: What's Alpha's connection on Echo? Did you enjoy this episode more than the prior one? YES I also miss Sierra. Where is she? lol When are we getting the view count today?

Episode 2: The Target - Questionnaire Favorite character: Echo/Jenny and Boyd. It really came to a tie, I loved their interaction. Least favorite character:What was his name, Connell? I hated him, even when he wasn't being a psycho to her yet. Favorite scene:The background information. I loved seeing when Boyd came aboard, and we finally got an answer about Claire's scars. That was cool. That also ties with the hallucination scene, where Echo/Jenny sees the 3 of herselves. Last but not least, the Tabula Rasa line. That made me smile Least favorite scene: The sex. I thought the dude was ugly, and I still think it's kinda sick how they make the actives have sex with them. Don't the actives get STDs? haha. I hope not. Biggest surprise:The other guy in charge(I'll get these names down soon!) being a weird prick to Echo at the end. What the hell, dude? You're creepy. Also, Alpha creeping around in the woods and paying Connell to kill Echo. Thing you saw coming a mile away: The cop being not being a real officer. Thoughts on Echo's personality: Jenny was very intense, but lacking in personality at times. I really liked how tough she was and how threatening when Connell was trying to hunt her. She turned out to be very tough. I like how Echo's getting pieces of her life back in her mind, and how she's seeing different parts of her life. Those are very interesting scenes. Thoughts on this week's engagement: Much better than last week's by a LONG shot. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, and all the action was superb. I love all the background information, and the turmoil that is going on at Dollhouse's operations. Question you want answered most: How does the FBI agent know about the Dollhouse? Did you enjoy this episode more than the prior one? Definitely, 100%.

Least favorite scene: The scene where Echo wakes up (it's getting too repetitive and it's only the second episode!) I think that's the point, though. That it always happens the same way.

Well it was sort of different this time with Boyd. The look on Echo's could be described as "do I know you" or "you look familiar". Based on Echo's should-to-the-wheel at the end, the familiar thing isn't too crazy. Boyd taking her hand and saying "for a little while" instead of Topher perfectly summed up the episode.

Favorite character:
Echo. I really like how she brings a little of herself to the table unknowingly everytime she gets imprinted with a new personality. I really feel like as the season progresses she is going to be able to retain the skills abd abilites that she has once she has been wiped.
Least favorite character:
Probably that dickhead at the end. I forget his name, but he is the one you are supposed to not like so job well done.
Favorite scene:
I loved the Handler scene where Echo has to trust Boyd. I thought it was very moving and it very much reminded me of Buffy and Giles.
Least favorite scene:
The guy driving in the car while making out. I didn't quite understand what his purpose is and why exactly the cop wants him (forgot his name too!).
Biggest surprise:
When the fake out cop shot Boys Partner and when Boyd got hit with the arrow.
Thing you saw coming a mile away:
That canteen trick. Although, I expected her to be knocked out, not just get loopy.
Thoughts on Echo's personality:
Well it played well into the plot of the episode obviously but other than that it didn't really have any development which I think worked because we want to focus more on Echos emerging self rather than each individual personality.
Thoughts on this week's engagement:
As it started off, it was strange that all the guy wanted to do was have sex and go hunting with Jenny, but overall at the end it obviously became phenonemal. It was a great plot that I have seen before about the hunter being the hunted.
Question you want answered most:
Why was Echo not killed?
Did you enjoy this episode more than the prior one?
Oh most definately. I think that the confusing parts of the pilot were erased or filled in with this epiosde. It was a high octane action packed episode that was equally balanced with great character development and plot progression. This series definately echoes (no pun intended) Buffy in many ways. Echo and Boyd seem like a Buffy and Giles, The Dollhouse seems like a Watchers Council, and Topher seems like a Xander of sorts. Overall, I think this series will go above and beyond and have as much success as Buffy and Angel did. It kicks ass and keeps you addicted.

Favorite character: Topher. Least favorite character: The male Active who was in the car. I'm not really feeling Ballard yet, either (which is a shame, 'cause I love Tahmoh.) He just seems like the stereotypical skeptic cop. Favorite scene: The scene when we first see Boyd with mind-wiped Echo and then the role reversal at the end. Oh, and Dewitt referring to the Actives as "tabula rasas." I hope we get to see more Whedon fan in-jokes. Least favorite scene: The scenes at the beginning with Echo and the hunter guy before he went all psycho. Biggest surprise: When Echo sees the girl walking around in the forest and sees that it's her. Oh, and her little "shoulder to the wheel" at the end. Thing you saw coming a mile away: Echo being hunted. The previews for the episode gave it away. Thoughts on Echo's personality: I didn't like her as much as Ms. Penn (mainly because it seemed like Eliza was just playing herself at the beginning), but I still thought she was pretty good. And seeing her forget pretty much everything that happened at the end is already starting to get progressively more creepy/sad. Thoughts on this week's engagement: I LOVED it! It was really fun to watch, especially the fight at the end. Question you want answered most: Why was Echo spared? Did you enjoy this episode more than the prior one?: Absolutely.

When they gave the brief explanation of what went wrong with Alpha... didn't they make it sound as if the same thing happened to him that is now happening to Echo? Multiple personality imprints bleeding through, resulting (in his case, and maybe soon in hers) in schizophrenia and psychotic behavior?
Did Alpha spare her because he recognizes that she's becoming like him? Is he in fact somehow responsible for what's happening to her?
I'm betting Alpha and Echo had some sort of past together before they became Dolls. And maybe that relationship is related to the "big problem" that caused Caroline/Echo to be desperate enough to sign on for this life.

I really hope the Alpha story will be over by the end of the season. I could see it going on for awhile, but it's too exciting and I'd hate for it to never be resolved if FOX cancels the show. It could be a great mini season arc, like The Master in Buffy.
