Dollhouse is now on the first page on Hulu for "most popular shows" beating out Heroes, Chuck, etc.
Must have something to do with Watch Dollhouse Week.

It could still be renewed.. right? I'm trying to be hopeful. Why don't they just move it to FX. It would do awesome there.

wow the demo is HORRIBLE. i almost see a better chance of terminator coming back than Dollhouse now. wow. just wow. Actually there *is* a better chance at this point of Terminator getting renewed than Dollhouse. Terminator is cheaper to make, is tied in to a major movie release, and has a history of getting much higher ratings than it's getting now. The only thing Dollhouse has going for it now is that it can be seen as a "prestige" show... something a network can point at and say, "See? We have intelligent, quality shows on too, not just vapid reality crap." But in recent years, prestige shows have gotten less and less important as networks worry less about the critics and more about the numbers. A move to FX, combined with a hefty budget cut, is probably the only hope at this point. But I'm not sure Joss would even want to do that. The battle now is to talk Fox into airing that 13th episode. Maybe they'll give it to us as a consolation prize.

A couple of thoughts to help counter the feelings of inevitable doom:
* Contrary to popular belief, it *would* be possible to ship this show to cable networks aside from FX. Eliza's development deal is jointly with 20th Century Fox studio and Fox Broadcasting. If the network isn't interested in renewing the show, they could just release her from their end of the deal and let the studio shop the show. "Buffy" and "Angel" were both Fox-produced shows that aired on non-Fox networks.
* The show could continue as a direct-to-DVD movie, or even series of movies. This is an increasing trend among genre shows. Joss's shows always do very well on DVD, so this would be an almost guaranteed profit-maker.
All indications are that the studio (if not the network) is still supportive of this show. There are still paths to success here... I hope they are taken.

If I hear one more person say "this is because of weather or movie releases" as an excuse. I'm going to throw down. It get's repetitive. There can't be an excuse for everything.

It annoys me how the worst episodes got the best ratings

It doesn't help to make a list of all the things people would rather be doing than watching Dollhouse. All the other TV shows have to deal with the same distractions and competition.

It annoys me how the worst episodes got the best ratings maybe fox was right afterall - tv audiences these days prefer standalone eps... blah.

This episode just happened to not be a standalone. The second lowest rated episode was "Grey Hour" which was a standalone. And a plot advancing episode, "Man on the Street", got fairly good ratings.

I think it all just comes down to the time slot. Mabe FOX will look at the DVR numbers and figure "well, those are the people going out that DVR and might watch if we move it to a different day" and do that. Other than that I can't see how they'll bring it back. I still have a slight glimmer of hope, though.

I mean, is FOX LOOSING money from Dollhouse? That's the question. Isn't everyone saying it's one of the cheaper shows the network has.
