I can't tell you how excited I am about this news! I really flipped out last night when I saw the announcements, and spitballed who could play some of the characters with hitnrun017. The Walking Dead is one of my favorite comic series. The characters are all layered, and it is really one of the better character driven comics I have read. Plus the news that Frank Darabont is showrunning this thing? Yay! I was surprised that AMC was the one that picked it up (always expected HBO or Showtime), but with AMC currently housing two of my favorite shows, Mad Men and Breaking Bad, I just couldn't be happier with the way this is sounding. No studio has officially picked it up yet, so all this could still fall through, but with all this early press and Darabont's involvement, I am really positive we will be seeing this show kick off next year. While I don't care, as long as the show happens, I would love to see it in black and white, so that it stays close to the comic. Being in black and white will allow them to get away with more gore as well, plus Darabont originally intended for The Mist to be in black and white, so there's a strong case that it will be. So happy about this.

Also incredibly excited for this. I just read the first 48 issues like a month ago after hearing how amazing the series is from ^^that guy^^. There is just so much greatness, character and story, that it'd work perfect as a television show. Really, really hope this happens.

Its a story about a zombie apocalypse, but as Wyn said it is very character driven. It is really a story about the remaining people and how they cope with the new situation they are in. It's a tale of survival. I highly recommend reading the comic series.

I LOVE THE WALKING DEAD! but, do you think they'll go a different direction with story and plot? having read all of the current issues out, i'm not sure if the TV series would have as much shock impact on me like when the folks from Woodbury came and killed most of the people in the prison, especially Lori and the baby, i was seriously looking at the page for about half a minute with my jaw hanging maybe they'd switch it up a bit? it would still be really cool to see it played out on screen either way

I'm curious, what were some of your dream choices for actors? Here are some that I have come up with: Rick Grimes: Kenneth Mitchell (from Jericho) Shane: George Eads (from CSI) Andrea: Katee Sackhoff (from Battlestar Galactica) Dale: Jim Beaver (from Supernatural) Tyreese: Chad Coleman (from The Wire) Glenn: John Cho (from Harold and Kumar) Michonne: Tracie Thoms (from Death Proof) The Governor: Danny Trejo (from anything that is awesome) Morgan: Andre Royo (from The Wire) Abraham: Ian McShane (from Deadwood) What do y'all think? I am stumped about who would be a good Lori though.

Great picks! Danny Trejo is perfect for that role.

They will expand and add subplots to make the story work better for TV, but hopefully follow the character and big storylines pretty carefully. Like I doubt that: Rick will lose his hand on the show, simply because that will be annoying for the showrunners to deal with every episode. Since AMC's shows are usually 13 episode seasons, I think they will cover Chapters 1 and 2 of the comic in Season 1. So they will find the prison at the end of the season. I hope a studio is attached soon, so that we will know the show is DEFINITELY happening.

I'll watch this, because I enjoyed the first arc for what it was. However, volumes 2-4 were so bad that I had to give up. Maybe the television medium and different writers will change things up, but as is, the comic is pretty much sexist, gross, and dumb as a stack of bricks. It might get better, but I was too turned off by book to continue. The premise is good, though, so maybe they can salvage the good stuff and run with it.

Wyndam: Those are some great actor selections! Walrus: That might have been the single most heartbreaking page of a comic book I have ever read

I agree with the spoiler. Those two issues were just insane! Your jaw literally drops for a day.

Your jaw literally drops for a day. i think i was still upset like, a week after i read it anyone else not feeling the current arc at the moment? maybe it's because i don't care for Dale, so i'm not bothered he's being eaten up i know some people will probably start getting pissed with the TV series since characters keep coming and going all the time

Shows like Heroes where EVERYONE is safe, well you just keep expecting everyone to keep on going. With this show, it will be the opposite, and I think people will get that. As for the current arc, I'm really enjoying it. I love this series when it is Man vs. Man, and the new villains are really twisted this time.

What do y'all think? I am stumped about who would be a good Lori though. First off I think you put a whole lot of thought into your actor choices. Great picks although I'm not familiar with Kenneth Mitchell's work since I never watched Jericho. Anyway, I've heard some people say Vera Farmiga (from The Departed) would make a good Lori and I kind of agree. She has the right look and I think she's a fantastic actress.

That's a great pick! She would definitely work, and I agree, she is a great actress.
