I like tales of the slayers more than vampires... but both were excellent editions to the buffyverse. I love the amount of dimensions to the whole mythology.
So rich. Vast and endless.

The drifting into Buffyworld or the like of TotS vs TotV? Either way, *thumbs up*

Vast and endless. *drifts off into Buffyworld* Totally agree with latter half of this comment. *karmas* Any reason why you prefer TotS? I felt that TotV was the meatier and more memorable of the two. Focusing on vampires seemed to allow for more bizarre, twisted tales. I still love TotS though. Except maybe "Nikki Goes Down!", that story was a big disappointment.

I find ToTS and ToTV equally brilliant. They contained some of the best Buffyverse stories ever, including "Righteous," "Presumption," "Sonnenblume," "Stacy," and "Taking Care of Business."
So this new addition has a high standard to live up to. I suspect this is going to be the story that takes the "Twilight" craze and rams a stake through it.

Twilight as in the character within S8 or the book?

Well, both the book series and the S8 character kinda play off each other. Twilight (the character) is supposedly orchestrating the whole anti-Slayer movement. Around the same time (in our world), the book franchise (and the movie) have encountered major success. It's kinda like art imitating life. Coincidence? Maybe Joss is the master of the universe after all.

I was referring to the book/movie. The whole premise of this ToTV story... teenager encounters vampire, romance ensues... seems deliberately calculated to evoke the Stephanie Meyer atmosphere. But I know neither Joss nor Scott would lower themselves to actually ripping off "Twilight," so... I have to assume there's going to be a point made here, and I suspect it will be the wooden kind.
Or, more likely (considering where Season 8 will be by then), it's the Slayer who gets it.
I'm mostly eager for this story because of Scott's statement that it will help explain why humans are giving their unquestioning love to vampires despite being steadily murdered by them... something I consider totally implausible based on the information we've been given so far. So I'm hopeful.

Well, not all humans. Apparently Buffy's other funding (other than heisting) comes from pro-Slayer contributors. At least that's what Allie said in his last Q&A. I suspect that the minority are shutting up, just because no one wants to be seen as a "Nazi sympathizer".

I suspect that the minority are shutting up, just because no one wants to be seen as a "Nazi sympathizer". I was wondering about that point. Next Q&A I must remember to ask him to elaborate on that, if he will. Who are these supporters, and are they remaining loyal or are they abandoning the Slayers as well? The story so far has suggested that public opinion is just about 100% against the Slayers (not that Buffy has been making much effort to change that.) But they must still have some better-informed friends left in the world, right?

I dont really see WHY Buffy would be focusing on that right now. She's more focused on eliminating her targets (Twilight & Simone) before focusing on that. The bigger picture is what matters.

Public opinion is how Twilight and Simone are currently defeating Buffy. And there's no question that as of now, she is being defeated. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this arc ends with an all-out government/military attack on her new headquarters, destroying it and resulting in the death or capture of most or all of the Scotland Squad. And this is because Buffy has allowed things to progress to the point that everyone thinks she backs Simone's activities and stuff like stealing submarines and blowing up civilian freighters. Confronted with a huge and obvious problem like Simone, Buffy chose to go home and come up with a plan for later, rather than immediately calling in reinforcements, taking out Simone and her gang (casualties? Too bad) and giving those people back their homes. That kind of thing would have gone a long way toward countering the perception that all Slayers are bad guys. But that's not what Buffy did. Bad decision(s). Consequences will ensue.

So jumping back to the, ya know, topic of the issue: Was I the only one, at first glance, to think the two characters on Chen's cover were male? And for that matter, get excited about the vamp-love-circle thing having that edge?

The characters do look male, but going by the names, I'm gonna guess that the triangle involves a guy, a female vampire, and a Slayer (obviously a girl).

The Jo Chen version has a girl biting a guy, the other version has girl-boy-girl(the triangle people) and below them, in the arcade, is the gang od reckless vampires. Not sure if may is a part of that gang.
I really want to read this now. It sounds really good, yet I fear that vampires will be idealized, but since it's the Buffyverse, the writer won't write it that way. It's not that I can't stand vampire with layers, but if someone I had heard the description to this story somewhere else(in a book, comic, movie) I would assume that there would be sleezyness beyond belief.

^ Yeah I know what you mean. And in that way the vampires become the tired old expression of lust/sexuality, which is not what buffyverse vamps are 'all-about'. In any other forum, I would've expected the same. I don't expect from this particular source, but I guess we'll see.

The solicitation and the alternate cover show us that well enough. I just meant that it appeared as such was all.

Pomegranate are yummy in the tummy! I don't want to sound like a douche but I hope whoever did the variant covers does not do the interior art. I'm quite excited for this.

Sorry Ben. The variant artists are also the ones responsible for the interior art. It's just a different style entirely. Just as each of the stories in TotV/TotS were done in a different style.

Well maybe I'm just overreacting. You can't judge a book by it's cover. Get it? I tried to make a funny. I'm sure he/she is very talented artists.
