So this Christmas I was very lucky this year. I recieved $125 in barnes and noble gift cards (WIN!) and now I'm tooling around the website, seeing what they have in stock. I'm not sure what I'm going to buy though. I've always wanted The Chosen Collection DVDs and they sell it at a pretty decent price (I have the membership card) buuuuuuuuut...I also could use the money to buy some more Buffy canon-type books, like Tales of the Vampire, Tales of the Slayer (thats canon right?), and Fray and I'd still have money left over. What do you guys think? Are those DVDs worth getting? I already have seasons 1, 2, and 3, but I can still return seasons 1 and 2 and get a refund...

The comics Tales of the vampires and tales of the slayer are canon, yes. At least according to some, inlcuding me. Canon or not tough, they're a very good read.
The Chosen collection sounds worth getting. I want that bonus disc!

i would have to say go with the chosen collection, especially because you can return 2 of the seasons you have for a refund. Plus maybe with the money you get back from the dvds you can still buy something else after! With that said if you were to buy yourself one of the comics you had in mind, i would go with tales of the slayers, it's one of my favorites. ;D

I personally own Seasons 1 & 2 individually, and the Chosen collection. Man, is that Chosen collection worth it! I love the packaging, and the way that it takes up a lot less space on my bookshelf. Plus, you get the bonus disc, which has some pretty cool interviews and featurettes. I adore my Chosen collection, and lugged it around with me on trips and such, and it's surprisingly durable. I do really enjoy Tales of the Slayers (I've gotten...3 of the books so far), and they're really good reads, but I found mine at a used book store nearby, so that made it a lot cheaper for me. I didn't really enjoy Tales of the Vampires as much, but it just wasn't as interesting. I know that B & N carries all of the Omnibuses, the Angel omnibuses, and a lot of After the Fall hardcover books. Plus, there's all the Buffy TPBs for Season 8. Heck, you might even want to get the calendar off of their website as well. I'm sure that they carry a couple of the professional essay books on their website( of which my faves: Buffy Goes Dark and Reading the Vampire Slayer). Let us know what you pick!
