The dancing was nice and all, but FINALLY let's get on with the rest of the show. Edit - Oh yeah did anybody catch Mr. Pissy. Lol. The dancing was a complete waste of time, IMO. Considering since the performances had nothing really to do with the films they were representing. It was all just interpretive mumbo-jumbo, and just took away from the brilliant performances by the orchestra. I preferred the old format, where they showed clips from the film, underscored by the film score. EVERYTHING about this year's Oscar is a mess. Not a hot mess. It's more like lukewarm kitty vomit. BAH!

I agree also, this year's show really is bad. Good nominees and winners, awful awful awful production.

I agree also, this year's show really is bad. Good nominees and winners, awful awful awful production. I was expecting a lot more from the choice of hosts, but right from the start, the entire thing fell flat. The jokes were meh. NPH's opening number was one of the poorest I've ever seen on the Oscars, and many of the new "ideas" are just cringe-worthy. Whoever came up with them should be fired and forced to work at a Doublemeat Palace...

Lmao. "forced to work at Doublemeat Palace...".
I love that and I wholeheartedly agree. I mean it was just a complete waste of time with the production and they simply should have listed the winners if this was the result of the massive heap of mess.
This is the only award show I actually watch because of the classic essence it seems to embrace--however it's clearly as one poster already has stated-- already lost its "luster".

This is why I just usually wait and watch the fashion wrap ups the next day and see who all won then.

The set is also disgusting. What's with all the glitter and the random cage with lamp shades attached? Gross.
Heh, seeing your avatar, Executrix, makes me remember how badly Melanie Laurent was snubbed this award season. The biggest of the year in my eyes.

WOW, Sandra Bullock won! I can't even lie I didn't expect her to win, but I'm happy for her. Her speech was awesome.
James Cameron didn't win. Didn't expect that either.

Well, she just walked Kathryn Bigelow off the stage, so I'm sure you probably just saw the hideous outfit.

I loved how Tom Hanks rushed through that. Now only if they can do that with the rest of the show next year. Surprised on best picture. I was sure the front runners were Avatar and Precious. Oh well. Goodnight folks

Wow. This thread certainly has blown up. I was so disappointed with Alec Baldwin. He didn't get a single laugh out of me. I didn't find Steve Martin funny either, but that didn't surprise me. Was it just me or was Christoph Waltz a little creepy during his acceptance speech? I thought Sandra Bullock was pretty funny. I have crush on her. :x As for Kathryn Bigelow / The Hurt Locker winning best director and best picture... James Cameron has got to be pissed.

Oh wow, I'm surprised that James Cameron lost that. But yay for the first female director win! That's so awesome!

I think James Cameron was actually really happy that Kathryn won. He literally jumped to his feet when her name was called for Best Director. It was nice to see.
