I dont know if this has been discussed before.
But does anybody not like hte name "Twilight" being used for this seasons big bad. Its like having that word atttached to buffy is like putting it in the same place as the more current, popular vampire-related series, The Twilight Saga.
I would have liked to see a more unique name cuz when I hear Twilight i imagine the twilight saga right away.

Joss didn't know about the Twilight Saga when he came up with the name. I like it anyway.

I think it's good that they're almost challenging the Twilight saga, cos let's face it Buffy will win it's more epic

It's not a contest, so neither can win.
But yeah, I never liked the name Twilight (not because it takes me think of Twilight, I like those books). But it matches the other Big Bads names: The Master, Spike & Drusilla, Angelus, The Mayor, Glory, The Trio/trika, The First, W&H, Holtz, The Beast, Jasmine.

haha! when i talk of the S8 comics with my sister (who really doesn't care for Buffy at all, but i still talk with her about em') shes like 'TWILIGHT'? what could they not think of a more original name then that? but then i say that technically twilight didn't become a huge hit until i think 08, and S8 came out in 07 so Joss didn't know any better. However, i wonder if Joss regrets naming him that now.....  |

Oh I never knew the twilight saga came out after Buffy S8.
The name definetly took Buffy to a whole new place, with the whole Twilight unmasked campaign and such.
Can anybody think of a better name?
What about "No Face" lol

I kinda wish they had come up with another name for the S8 villain, because every time I think "Twilight," I think of the Twilight series. It's sort of annoying. lol.

I like the name Twilight but just like PJ said, whenever I talk about Twilight to anybody (who sadly don't know about BtVS...which i'm so thankful for SlayAlive BTW), they automatically think of those trilogy books-movies (which i've never read or seen) and that can be annoying....but then again, one can argue I annoy the crap out of them first with my constant talk of the Buffyverse!

The word "twilight" can be interpreted two ways... either in the sense of an ending (the end of the day, the dying of the light) or a balance between light and dark.
I think our season 8 Twilight is a force dedicated to maintaining a balance between good and evil.

At first I really liked the name Twilight because I kept trying to figure out what it meant and how it fit the character and his motives, but the explosion of love for those books and movies of the same name kind of tainted it for me and I grew to dislike the comparison. I think lately though I've mostly just stopped caring and don't have much of an opinion either way.
